  • You’ve seen bubbles, float, fall, and pop, but have you seen one freeze? Probably not as most of us blow bubbles during hot weather but it means we’re missing out on something really supercool!
Frozen Bubbles are a great experiment because what they create looks more like art than anything. Getting to watch fractals of ice form is beautiful as the bubble goes from wibbly-wobbly fun to a it’s own little snow globe.
It only takes a couple minutes when the weather is right and we spent hours outside having fun.
The downloadable PDF worksheet for this experiment can be found here:

If you don't have any Bubble Solution on hand, here is one of the best recipes we've found!
    -Bubble Solution Ingredients-
    1 Cup Warm Water
2 Tablespoons Glycerin or Corn Syrup as a substitute
    2 Tablespoons Sugar
    3 Tablespoons Dish Soap
It’s as easy as adding the 2 Tablespoons of Glycerin to the 1 cup of warm water in a bowl and stirring well.
Then add in 2 tablespoons of sugar which will help with the crystallization.
Mix until fully dissolved and then add 3 tablespoons of dish soap.
    Supercool Frozen Bubble Experiment!
    -Supplies-
    Bubble Solution
    Reusable Straw or Bubble Wand
    -10°C / 14°F (or colder) Weather
    A Warm Outfit
    Experiment
    1. Go outside when the temperatures are below freezing: -10°C or 14°F. The colder the better.
    2. Allow your bubble solution to cool before blowing bubbles.
    3. Find a place outside that is cold but protected from the wind.
    4. You can blow a bubble and catch it on your bubble wand or blow a bubble directly on the snow, if you have some around.
    5. The bubble won’t freeze immediately. Depending on the temperature outside, it may take a few seconds to a few minutes to freeze.
    6. When the bubble is frozen, touch it lightly and see what happens.
