    I remember reading about Vasily Aleksyeev as a kid -- he broke the record, a record 80 times!
    And there was that one time when he raised one leg up and held the weight with only one leg on the ground after finishing his lift! Now that is something!!! His coach scolded him for doing so! :-)

    Soviet weightlifters forever. Pisarenko's clean and jerk 265 in 1984 at Friendship Games. OMG! Vasiliy Alexeev 80! world records! Kurlovich! Taranenko 266 kg. USSR rulzzzzz

    • @alexschonski3637
      @alexschonski3637 7 лет назад +9

      no matter what weight may be lifted over head in the future Vasiliy Alexeev will always remain the greatest lifter ever to me , 80 world records , 255 kg clean and jerk that took almost 40 years to be surpassed ,who knows what more he could of done if he was not cut short by inside interests in his home nation . He was forced into retirement . Russia disrespected their greatest national sports hero ever .

    • @Vasily_Zemlyansky
      @Vasily_Zemlyansky 7 лет назад +4

      +Alex Schonski, I agree with you, 80 wr and ten years of domination. He is hero of weightlifting. David Rigert (USSR) have 50 world records. Historical persons in the sport. Vasiliy told, that in 1980 Olimpic games he was poisoned for Sultan Rahmanov win

      Maybe he was poisoned. But what are you talking about disrespect? He is the greatest, and everybody who knows anything about weightlifting will agree with me.

    • @Vasily_Zemlyansky
      @Vasily_Zemlyansky 7 лет назад +9

      +iskanderzzz, Alexerv died a poor man, he lived like a simple man. In 90's he lost all his money (prizes from USSR) at the bank's colapse. No streets, named for him, no tv shows about, looks like that hero never lived in my country.
