Man, that first jam you went into after your rundown had a Replacement’s “16 Blue” vibe to it, sounded great. I’m usually not a fan of the aged finished, but this one looks really sharp from a distance. Strongly considering one of these to fill my tele needs.
I love my creme color, white guard SL-51 with a maple neck. I did my own set-up and fret finishing then stripped the black headstock back to the natural finish. Fantastic value!
Great review as always.. I like that you get into the details and the pluses and minus.. and not afraid to call out some poor craftsmanship when required.. I have had a good experience with GFS Xavier line.. on a holiday sale event i picked up a sea foam strat with great rosewood board for next to nothing.. it did need a slight neck adjustment to pull the strings back to center.. but it is a great value for $ 170.. great finish.. good trem.. full size old spec string spacing.. decent tuners .. good fretwork.. good pickups.. full thickness body of alder.. cant beat it really.. great mod platform as well..
I recently bought the SL-55 (the "tele" style with Filtertron pickups - same finish!) and love it. It DID need some setup work and new strings when I first got it, but it really has a unique tone, and is a quality guitar. The neck itself is very impressive for the price range.
I got a black '51, but wish I'd gotten the '55, which I plan to buy next. The '51 isn't bad, but I got the "rosewood" neck, which isn't really rosewood anymore (it's black walnut), and I don't like the lead/bridge pickup much, although the neck pickup sounds good, as does the middle/both position. Wish I'd gotten the maple neck, which I'll get with the '55 in sunburst. There are so many well made inexpensive guitars now, but Guitar Fetish is among the best, and so many options - a guitar hot rodder's treasure-trove!
Good question. To be honest I didn’t remove the pickguard. That’s a miss on my part, sorry. I’ll take a look and get back to you. I’m out of town this weekend but will have a look when I get back.
I got a Slick guitar. Has 2 P90 pickups. For the price they are a great deal. Get yourself one or two or maybe even more. I don’t like that blue finish.

I wanted a top loader but didn’t really relish the idea of doing surgery on my ASAT Classic. I’ve been looking at these as an alternative.

New to you! Great review format!!!

Looks like a good design and attention to detail for an inexpensive guitar 🎸 Nice find!
Slick guitars ROCK, I have two…. Both are great .. SL50 and SL55 …. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a great simple guitar
Sounds great! Love the tune, def not a “tele style” song. Nice change of pace.
Yeah… everyone does a chicken pickin’ demo. Thought I’d change it up. Thanks for noticing.
Great review!
They "aged" the screws on mine so good, I haven't figured out how to remove them yet. LOL. Otherwise, I love the thing.
Yeah… there is rust on every screw for sure.
Gorgeous guitar! Would you happen to know if it’s pre-routed for a middle pickup?
Hey, for the neck is it routed for a single or a him? I'm thinking about getting one for myself.

Are parts interchangeable or are the specs on these proprietary & no after market parts will fit it??
They are all guitar fetish parts which are replacement parts so they should be interchangeable.
thanks,,, weight? is heavy?
It weighs about as much as a tele 😜. Honestly I don’t have an exact weight but it’s not heavy in my opinion.

If the headstock was better looking i would pay 500.
Totally get that. It’s so funny what a difference a good looking headstock makes.
