Nothing wrong with buying clothes, espcially if its something you love. Ramit Sethi talks about this. "Spend extravagantly on the things you love and cut costs mercilessly on the things you don't" Like you, fashion is one of the things that I enjoy spending money on. Before, I've always felt guilty. But ever since watching Ramit, I've learned to not feel guilty spending money on things you love. If you're still meeting your savings goals, investment goals, paying down debt, living within your means, why not spend on things you love?
Love this comment!! I totally agree, Ramit has made me really re-think the constant guilt I carry with shopping for things that others deem unnecessary. But truly I do love fashion and having higher quality items that last! Thanks for the reminder!!
Sipping my tea and watching your video to help me stay grounded on Black Friday/Cyber Monday 😅 I love your transparency, ethos, and perspective! Every minute of your videos are watched here with me and my cats ❤
Gabby, I loved this video so much! I have been struggling with all these video’s saying you should invest and save money but I loved how you mentioned you should also enjoy things in life and girl you should upload what you got during Black Friday. I for sure would love to watch what you got as I also ended up spending some money on Black Friday haha. Thank you for sharing🩷 love from Amsterdam!
I didn't end up spending much more than anticipated on shopping in November, but what got me was eating out. I also had to remind myself not to be hard on myself because I'm normally really good about eating at home most of the year! And much of my dining out budget came from celebrating a milestone birthday for my husband and enjoying meals with close friends.
we have very different spending habits, but I always love how honest and realistic you are with yourself - such a great reminder to look at the bigger picture of saving/investing overall and not get hung up on the individual spending categories ❤ (also, hoping to see the ninja creami in some of your vlogs! my friend has one and loves it!!)
That is so great to hear, thank you!! So true, you have to zoom out because there are lots of wins that balance out the losses. And I definitely will include the creami in the vlogs! I am so excited to experiment 🤩
I just got your tracker and am loving it! Just wondering if you've found some phone plans you're happy with? I'm w Rogers, unlimited data and paying $88 per month... I think I might be paying for my phone in that plan as well but would have to double check.
So glad to hear it, it should be up soon!! My god the sales have been out of control, I had 20 text messages yesterday all from brands!!! But looking forward to balancing it all out and moving forward.
You’re so close to 10k subscribers eek! You’ll hit that this year for sure 🎉 Loved hearing your chat about the psychology of money at the start - I think it’s a really important concept. I read a book with that title, highly recommend! I totally feel you on the impulsive spending on Black Friday, I spent more than I would have liked to on natural deodorant because I thought I needed it but I looked at the bigger picture of my finances this year and I still hit my saving/investing goal so it all balances out ⭐️ have a fab Dec Gabby, looking forward to your next upload x
Ahh i know!! Its so crazy. I truly can't believe it! So glad you enjoyed that part of the video! Yes I've listened to the author on podcasts! I need to read it. Glad you are taking a bigger picture view on your financial success this year 💗 Thank you for the lovely comment as always
Hello! This is the first video I’ve watched on your channel. I’m trying to get my life together especially when it comes to investments. Can you please talk about how to start investing? Or, if you have done a video, can you link it in your next video? Any info will be helpful! Thank you! 😊
Hello and welcome!! 💖 yes I have an investing for beginners video I am working on for the next month or two. I do have a how to invest video as well that I will link. ruclips.net/video/nNyRwq1nfto/видео.htmlsi=OxJ0pEo8A7YOsjWT
Yay so glad to hear it! ☺ it takes time but just continue to slowly add more and more to them and it will feel sustainable and motivating once you see how fast they grow!
I’m not proud to say this but this video did make me feel a bit better about my BF spending 😅 I made an honest effort at a budget beforehand but once I started buying stuff I kept remembering other stuff I wanted as well so it all got a bit crazy
Love the transparency. I haven't really done any shopping this black Friday. I bought a couple of things but I had a gift card so I point spent $18. I think it helps that I work from home full time so while I love clothes, I don't buy too many anymore. I always get so much cat hair on my clothes, too so even more reason to not buy so many cute things. 😅
Wow thats amazing!! Definitely a win! That does help alot, I find I wear 10% of my closet when I am working from home because its all of my comfy wear and I also end up with cat hair on everything 😑
I love all of your videos, Gabby!!! I want to buy your budget tracker, but in one of your last videos (I can't remember which one), you said a new one is coming out after the new year. Should I wait for the new one?!
@@kellymutua thank you so much!! 💖 Totally up to you, if you’re looking for an even better version with more functionality around charging to savings accounts, net worth tracker etc. I’d say wait for the new one! If you want to save some money and aren’t too worried about the updates then I’d say grab the discount. I will run a sale on the new one for the first month so likely will be around $12-$16 then!
@@GabbyPeterson17, that's amazing. Thank you for the quick reply! I'll wait for the newest one to come out. Thanks again for your helpful and relatable videos on finance, lifestyle, etc! 😄
Great video as always, Gabby! 💕 I really appreciate your financial transparency! Automating your investments is truly so freeing. It's comforting to know that no matter what you'll be hitting those goals. It's easier said than done, but try not to be so hard on yourself about your spending! You have the income to support it, and the amount you saved and invested in November is amazing! 💰✨
Thank you girl!! 💕 Automating is so great! It truly is the secret sauce to my success so far. Aw thank you for the reminder, it is something I'm trying to do less. I feel like guilt and spending go hand in hand for me even if I am technically spending within my means.
Regarding the consumerism/Black Friday there’s a new documentary on Netflix “Buy now” ❤ Also I’m going to Sabrina’s concert in march so I got pretty excited when I saw the intro of this video ☺️
I've definitely seen it pop up! Dang I should have watched it before all the shopping. Omg thats so exciting, she is incredible!! One of my favorite concerts ever
Hi Gabby, thank you for your video! I have a dumb question, how to you track your saving, do you have separate account? Thank you very much in advance and thank you for your content!!
Not a dumb question at all!! I use the budget tracker to track all of my savings into separate goals, but the savings all sit in the same account. Theres a savings tab in the budget tracker to track balances!!
@@GabbyPeterson17 Thank you very much for your answer, I think I will try your excel file! I am a French who lives in Belgium but I think it can be adjusted...!
Great budget but just curious you had an EF but you said you used it for your Italy vacation. Isn’t the EF used only for Emergencies and not a vacation fund ?? It’s your money and you do as you please but wouldn’t it be better to create a separate vacation fund ??
Totally agree!! I did save up a large travel fund and spent within the limits of that fund. However we had one of our flights home cancelled that made us miss our big leg flight back to North America. We basically had to pay out of pocked for last minute flights which were $2200. I used my emergency fund to cover the flight cost. We are getting some money back from the airline but not a lot.
Thanks for the analysis! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
You pay money to offset your carbon footprint? I like the idea, but do you think Jeff Bezos is doing that? Any other billionaires doing that? It just seems like throwing money away. But I have no clue about this subscription so id love to hear your thoughts
I do!! I am a mechanical engineer and took an energy systems course that looked at carbon emissions, how its caused and how we can use science to offset and since then I've been super interested in all the new inventive ways they are removing or sequestering carbon. I also personally want to do what i can because that's all I have control over. I also try to do other lifestyle things as well :)
@@elizabeththompson1525 hahaha yes!! It’s insane, we have our heat on and a/c on all year and our electric is so cheap! BC hardly uses gas because we have such large amounts of natural hydro powered electricity! So likely that is why! Plus a small apartment with less windows helps 😂
I love seeing your budget tracker do well! You deserve all of the love and support on the budget tracker xo I LOVE it so much!
