  • This was my first visit to Lakenheath RSPB reserve. It was a brief visit to find my way around. Lakenheath is well known for its Bitterns but there are many other species to photograph such as Bearded Tits, Marsh Harriers, Kestrels, Cranes, Kingfishers and others. Otters have also been reported there. It is a great place and will be well worth a return visit to spend more time there.

Thanks for watching and glad it was useful. There is one hide and 2 covered viewpoints all of which would be worth spending some time in.

Great video and fantastic nature reserve, the mere hide is a fantastic place to film and photograph kingfishers. We had a bittern low flying over us as we walked along the riverbank.

Thanks. Agree great reserve but never had a great deal of success with the Kingfishers. Visited a few times to see the Bearded Tits but always too windy. Cheers Keith

My local RSPB reserve & Ive spent many happy hour at Lakenheath.
Its best in the Spring & its very rare that you fail to see Bitterns & Kingfishers.
I have some great Bittern youtube videos, walking flying & swimming. Mostly seen from Mere Hide & up to Joist Fen. :)
Its wonderful in the Spring to watch the Marsh Harriers sky dancing :)
Loved the video of my local reserve I its certainly gave me ideas to record the full reserve & not just the wildlife :)
Heres to maybe catching you around the reserve :)

Thanks Eddie. It is a great place but with all the issues not had a chance to go back yet. I have never seen a Bittern so that would be great. Hope to get back there next year and you never know we may bump into each other. Cheers Keith

Thanks Andy. The Jay image was an unexpected one for me but I quite liked the way it sat in the environment. Thanks for watching.

What do you do with your photos you sell them or post them on social media. You should create an Instagram account. And have you ever won any awards with your photos?

Hi Ben. For now most of my images are for me. I do put some on stock photo sites but don't sell a great deal. I have a facebook page facebook.com/Photography.KGs and I am on instagram instagram.com/_kgs_photography. I also post on local and other wildlife and landscape sites. I did win a competition to enter a charity wildlife calendar but that is about the limit. Thanks for watching.... Cheers Keith
