Great video. It always strikes me as to how far into the mountains these old timers were willing to create a homestead and live out their lives there. How different the mind set must have been then. We take so much for granted.
I always look forward to your videos because they’re a combination of history, mystery, beautiful locals and great videography. Keep up the great work and keep em coming!
I love it when you find more personal items like the key and the knee buckle, and mystery items. I love to sit and speculate about the people who they belonged to, and what they looked like and what the items looked like on their person. Incredible.
I really enjoy your videos. You take time explaining things and you show some of the beautiful scenery and foliage around you. Keep doing what you do. Thank you.
What a treat, to wake up to a new video from GMMD! And this was no disappointment! New music, gorgeous videography, exciting finds!! How cool, man. I'm excited to go detecting. Your vids always inspire me. HH, Brad, and great detecting fun!!!
Superior Hunt and investigation, Brad ! For the landowner, what was here-to-for just a pit in the ground, you have proven, that the pit, is a colonial home site. I would love to see the smile on the face of the landowner. If the first coin you found is a US large cent, I would point out, the first United States Mint opened in 1794. I suspect the site is older than that. Both coins could be pre-revolutionary war ! That was a very thought provoking investigation and hunt. Your video begs the questions. Who were the people ? How long was the home site occupied ? What was their mode of sustainment ? Why did they leave ? And where did they go ? Brad, What you did not see and find at the site, may go a ways in the speculation, to answer those questions. That made my Saturday morning. Thank you my friend :-))
Hello from Georgia. I can't get enough of your videos!! thank you so much!!! Do you ever find family burial sites in the mountains? Surely, people died there. Where are they buried??
Hey guys I love watching your videos as here in Australia we didn’t have such a vast array Of Colional wars here so it would be so hard to find relics here so I am amazed at the things you find. The beautiful country you cover is awesome, stunning and beautiful. Keep up your videos as I love watching them cheers guys....... john
Thank you for more folklore and history from Vermont. I agree with another follower of your videos; the thimble is one of the most personal item you find since it is used by someone living in those homes that you've located.
Such a joy to watch you discover these relics and coins. At first I was thinking the key might have been to a tea box, but if it was a later piece I'm not sure they locked their tea up by then. But, it is fun to try to imagine what things were used for. Hope you go back. Thank you for sharing.
Nice job pulling together the time period by your finds, surroundings and conditions. Great content as always . Great hand made holster I received from you. Fits my pin pointer like a glove!! Onwards and Upwards - detect and we shall find!!
Once again, I complement you on your spectacular videography. I would watch your videos just for the intro which I look forward to every Friday morning. You should get more credit for your music and narration which are top notch.
Thanks again for the hard work putting together quality videos. That area alone is a great treasure and you brought back to life some of the history of the homestead.
I live in NH and find many depressions when hunting. Have also found very old abandoned hunting camps deep in the woods. And long forgotten cemeteries with holes nearby.
Great video Brad, love how your story develops and opens up to our eyes. Discovering the sites with you. Thanks for sharing. Until next time HH&GL *Chris*
You find THE coolest permissions and places to hunt. Another beautiful video. A few good finds too, the coppers, and especially the little key! Great job Brad! Rob (2) Diggin' Florida w/ Rob!
Brad , I’m still enjoying your videos way down here in Southwest Tennessee. Keep up the great content and music. Your doing a great job sharing the history of your area I really enjoy them Thanks again 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
huh, just had an epiphany....the reason I enjoy your metal detecting videos above all the rest is that you're not a metal detectorist...you're a historian/archeologist who owns a metal detector. I may be a little slow on the upkeep but know every time I watch on your channel, it's minutes well used. thanks again.
I also detect and wonder how many others realize the number of hours it takes to make an 18 minute video such as this. That said, your work is much appreciated and enjoyed! Cheers.
Life was hard back then. Maybe the old folks died and the kids left for some reason. A million things could have happened. You have a way of presenting your finds and showing the beauty of the forest that I find very enchanting. Love your videos.
No matter what you find these videos are great. Just to know from what you found we know someone lived there. Like buildings in Europe after the war most of the lumber was taken for other structures being built, only the foundations were left. Nice finds HH.
Thanks Brad, Nice finds,I see its still cold there, Here in Florida we are in the high 90's but lots of rain coming in the weeks ahead so looking forward to cooling off.
Enjoyed the whole video due to the youthful energy the narrator has it's a wonder how he weaves around a good hunting area yet finds some very interesting finds excellent work thanks the next video he finds a Samquinch Treasure Hoard for Sure!!!; )
how hardy these early settlers were to live and thrive, somewhat, in this mountainous territory..the weather alone would have been a challenge to keep warm and to store enough viables for the long hard winters..the message comes thru in each and every video you produce...thank you
Excuse the pun, still digging your cinematic style of filming. Well above the rest . Editing and walk bys are awesome. Continue to keep it real unlike some other where you can clearly see dirt packed fakes. Eagerly await the next adventure. Im going to start sharing your passion on my facebook page to increase your followers .
Another great video. I'm sure it was a tough spring for hunting and filming. You got the same crummy weather we got in NY capital dist. As to not finding much those folks probably never had much anyway. Losing a cent or a half cent would probably have been pretty traumatic. Props for your determination.
Hi Brad, I am addicted to your videos. I especially love because many of my ancestors lived in the Vermont mountains and I guess you probably have hunted their old homesites. Many lived in Rutland, Poultney, one came from Fulham, which I don’t believe exists anymore. Many were Revolutionary War Vets, marble quarry workers, Farmers and railroad workers. I would love and copies of these old maps you talk about. Love to contact you! Sue Ballard
You never disappoint. Great work. I love that you know old folk lore and stories. Even if not true. Lol history always shows how people thought back then with the wild stories. Great finds and location. Are you kicking yourself for putting this one off? Lol thanks for sharing.
Well another great video with some pretty great music ! The key is amazing I would love to find those! it looks like the key to my Cedar Chest awesome!
Bobby Shafto’s gone to sea, Silver buckles at his knee; He’ll come back and marry me, Bonny Bobby Shafto! “Bobby Shafto” is an English folk song and nursery rhyme, mostly associated with Robert Shafto, a British Member of Parliament for County Durham (elected in 1730)
Try putting the coin in your pocket and let it row around with your other coins for a few weeks see if anything shows up. They call this the pocket tumbler. Hope it works I have seen coins after they have been carried this way and some do start showing signs of what they are. Another great video.
Too bad you did not find a privy hole, garbage pit or spring house foundation. Might be worth going back again. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
Dude, your vids are bad ass,,, awesome finds! must of been exciting to find the knee buckle, then bam find a largie!!then another haha.. all the finds are nice.. i just found one of those little keys myself, and did the same, wondered what the key went to! i think mine might of been a cuff key!! thanks for bringing us along!! HH-Ray
Looks like you passed an old signpost tree on the way out there. Did you see it? Native people used to bend trees into right angles to point towards important places, and you can still see them in some places.
As always, good camera and editing work, but the music sets you above all others in the end. Such a pretty state and well shown by you Brad. Your finds are secondary compared to the journey. Thanks again, Chuck in NE Kansas
You have pleasant voice and you dont move the camera around quickly. Your a interesting treasure hunter 🌷🌼😳 I even enjoy the music and the mountains you explore 🌻🥀
Like always Great video Brad, loved the music & Finds made, how do you go about getting permission from property owners? Are you well known in your area or do you prefer door knocking? It's something I've often wondered, HH Brad--Brian
I was looking at the little key that you found and I was thinking that it looks a lot like a key to modern day handcuffs, I'm probably wrong. I watch your videos much like people watch reruns of Andy Griffith...lol, again I truly enjoy watching your videos
Great video, key and thimble were neat, too bad the coins were toasted, too bad you don't have an ultra sonic cleaner to run a toasted coin thru, it might bring out some of the detail by removing some of the patina to see what (might ) be underneath !
Hey thanks for all that you do! great videos. FYI there is a bent tree at arround 2 min into this video. I don't know if this one is but my great grand father told me stories about them. the native Americans would bend trees like this to mark trails through the mountains from major sites of importance to them. harvesting foods, raw flint for tools, winter summer camp sites, ect.. if you see any more with in a mile or so that would be very cool!! thanks again *** ps they were usually about 1/2 to 1 mile apart in the mountains, farther in the valleys, and the horizontal piece was inline with the trail.
I love the beautiful and serene surroundings that you capture on film. You have a great artistic eye.
So glad to hear that, Rett!
Agreed! I also love his music. It is really relaxing, Brad is really talented.
Thanks so much!!
Agreed, well said!
I like the nature shots almost as much as the detecting...if not more...
I love it when you find more personal items like the key and the knee buckle, and mystery items. I love to sit and speculate about the people who they belonged to, and what they looked like and what the items looked like on their person. Incredible.
Enjoyed the hunt! You do well painting a picture of colonial Vermont with your naration.
Deej, yes, yes he does!
A very interesting hunt and some great finds too! Thanks for taking us along! H.H.
I agree. A two generation mountain homestead. Fantastic content, but your filming, music and editing is the best on RUclips.
Thanks again, Jim!
Just love everything about your videos!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I really enjoy your videos. You take time explaining things and you show some of the beautiful scenery and foliage around you. Keep doing what you do. Thank you.
Nice video, you sure can sniff out the sights, good job
Love the history you pull out of the ground. Good work, thank you for the show.
Thanks for watching, Joanna!
@@GMMD you must know the mountains there. I'd have to use GPS ..........
You have definitely got it down to a exact science, well done, awesome History narrative , amazing video & hunt
What a treat, to wake up to a new video from GMMD! And this was no disappointment! New music, gorgeous videography, exciting finds!! How cool, man. I'm excited to go detecting. Your vids always inspire me. HH, Brad, and great detecting fun!!!

Hello from Georgia. I can't get enough of your videos!! thank you so much!!! Do you ever find family burial sites in the mountains? Surely, people died there. Where are they buried??
I've never ran across an undiscovered cemetery, but have visited several known ones high in the mountains
Hi Brad, some cool finds, the thimble I think was the best find for me as it's so personal and would have been used a lot. Thanks for sharing. x
Another good one! Great locations. Keep up the good work!
That was very cool following you discover the old cellar site and digging some awesome relics. The key and the thimble would have to be my favs :)))
You should camp at some of these locations. Put up a live cam so we can watch. Still it was another incredible video. Thx Brad for your dedication 👍
There's an idea! Thanks Andrew!
Well done. Thanks for taking us along🙏

Love it when you least expect finding something, you find something. Thanks for finding history.

Nice hunt and a nice knee buckle. Thanks
I would love to see the reaction of the property owners when you show them what you find!
If you could only find the box the key fit into lol.
Good to see you back in the woods👍🏻
Life was hard back then. Maybe the old folks died and the kids left for some reason. A million things could have happened. You have a way of presenting your finds and showing the beauty of the forest that I find very enchanting. Love your videos.
