My 2 rules to cast iron: 1) use it often 2) keep it clean How to clean your cast iron: • How to CLEAN your cast... How to "deep clean" your cast iron: • Deep cleaning your cas...
I use baking soda to clean the cast iron skillet, it’s a mild abrasive and takes off any grease and stickiness that may be left behind after the soap wash.
I used those baking soda fridge packs for odor. After they get old, I reuse the baking soda for scrubbing the old cast iron I'm restoring instead of throwing the boxes out.
LOL same arsenal as me🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣…I RARELY have to use any of that, other then the soap. I’ve been fortunate enough to have never needed the steel wool, so far.. GREAT info, thanks Chris!!
Love the videos! Such good information. What kind of battery charger do you use? I got one from Amazon and it just died on me a month later. Thank you!
I think he said size 0 or 1 in another video. Although not nearly as cheap, I bought a 6 pack of fine grade stainless steel wool off Amazon to try out. Doesn't rust, and crumble like the regular stuff.
@cast_iron_chris They have OVERATED that DON'T USE SOAP theory. I live dead in da South & Louisiana roaches, rats & snakes won't be in my house sucking on old oiled up, food smelling & sniffing in or around my house. Nooooo sir. If you got a good season, & proper maintenance after EACH COOK,, you'll be fine. Soooo Chris,,, DITTO!!! No more 100% lye these days in soap. Tkx CI Chris.

Hi stranger. Happy beLATEed fathers day to you. Nice content.
Thank you thank you!
How o you get sticky spots off if the SOS isn’t doing it???
Can you put ordinary iron in lye bath? I want to renovate my ax and hand drills.
Don't think that would help, as lye is meant to attack seasoning and baked on organic material.
Where did you get your fish spatula?
What steel wool do you use after lye or vinegar baths?

This goes against everything I ever learned regarding cleaning seasoned pots: never use soap.
I’m sorry to tell you, you were taught ‘wrong.’
