This vid alone is enough to showcase the RD-800 not to mention the talent that goes behind the performance. No words, no gimmicks....just plain raw performance. Good job!
I ordered a used RD800 from Guitar center, but the big issue is that is was poorly packed and arrived damaged, although it did still work so I played on it and after decided to return it for an RD88 and boy the difference in sounds action and quality was way worse, the it just feels cheaper, so the price used for the RD800 was about $1200 and the listing says it was in good condition.
wow you're a beautiful player, so many good songs played so well, how does this compare to the rd700nx I wonder. Would this piano sound good through a stagepas 300 yamaha system and you have pre-recorded the strings in these demos I think I am correct in saying, and you are recording through some other device as this sounds amazing, the general audio quality I mean, thanks.
Thanks very much Mark for your kind words. This was recorded directly from the outputs of the RD800 into a Zoom Q3HD handheld recorder. The strings were not pre-recorded, but were simply layered with the piano sound by pressing two voice buttons together on the RD800. The Stagepas is a pretty nice sounding system - as long as you run it in stereo it should sound great. The RD700nx doesn't cut it for me. Roland have changed the piano voicing on the RD800 so it responds much better than the old model and you feel more part of the sound. I can't wait to get mine!
BonnerTony how does this compare to the yamaha cp4? which do you prefer may I ask? I have a roland hp507 also, I wonder how the rd 800 compares to it, obviously not taking into account the 507 has built in speakers, thanks a lot.
BonnerTony just final question if ok, how come you dont use the onboard wav recorder to record these demos? Is it because you have greater recording control with the zoom? I have a rolanbd hp507 and it has onboard wav recorder, but I find it records too quiet, so I am guessing you use the zoom so you can record at a higher recording volume? Do you recommend the zoom product you said for recording dp's? Thanks again, hope you can reply, it means a lot, thanks.
I just bought my RD800 about a month ago. The action is nothing short of phenomenal--forte or pianissimo. However, I just can't get the acoustic piano to sound right through the monitors--very hollow and tinny to my ear. Better but not awesome through phones. I'm convinced it's my lack of knowledge about settings, having been an acoustic player all my life. This piano demo sounds better through my onboard Mac speakers than I can produce myself through my monitors. Any advice?
Self True Im feeling the same on my HP603. The middle notes are REALLY BAD! I cant play it, for real, it sounds VERY VERY DIGITAL! EVEN MORE DIGITAL THAN MY OLDER CASIO PRIVIA PX 760. Now I'm feeling bad, I could choose an Kawai or Casio...the Roland feels great and sounds great, the problem is the ridiculous tone on the middle. A piano wich sounds AMAZING on bass notes and so bad on the middle is unbelievable. The problem is not with you or me, its with Roland.
I almost bought this keyboard. Its interface is wonderful and the string sounds are great. But once I put the piano up against the Yamaha CP4, there was no comparison. I miss the other great sounds, but Yamaha hit it out of the ballpark with their piano
The shaky stand is really annoying and detracts from this fine piano. Tell the guy sitting there to run in back and get a proper replacement. Otherwise great playing and well demoed.

This demo is much much better than all the other crappy demos on youtube. Especially the official ones are painful to watch
Just Fabulous !!!
Incredible playing talent and amazing instrument.
Thank you for posting.
So beautiful tone!

Awesome demo! love it!

Could you tell me how this was recorded please? the onboard wav recorder or a separate device? Many thanks.
A proper demo ...
Can someone please tell me the title of the song at 2:08 ?
it's written there in the caption, title is: "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to be Free"

did you record the audio and video together straight onto the zoom q3hd using the stereo input.
Nice playin
I use this to learn piano on. If you cant get a decent acoustic...this makes for an excellent alternative.

Stand used seems unstable. Roland sounds great though.

i hesite with a cp5 yamaha and rd800 ..what is the best?
rd800 all day
007 OST The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) for Nobody Does It Better ... :)
How does it compare to Kronos X
So the question on my mind is... Which do you prefer? This Roland or the Kurzweil Artis?!
Kurzweil keybed is better.
Rd-800 is my last digital piano. 😀
man 3:37 is nasty, but no wonder you transposed it
Designing similar to Krome

Seems that most racks have the same problem they are rickety as hell
I use König & Meyer 18953 stand for RD-800. Could only become more sturdy using concrete.
the constant twirling banner about where you can buy the keyboard is annoying. Otherwise great playing. beautiful instrument.
+KenetixComp why did you mention it!! now i am annoyed by it too!
