  • Entry of the Gladiators by Julius Fucik. A GREAT and famous march and a worthy piece in book 7 of the Palmer-Hughes Accordion Course.
I am way ahead of myself here, but I just wanted to see what level the 7-th book finishes on.. well, I found out..
    Enjoy!

@h3onza nope. this is a traditional stradella bass system. notice that I play only on two bass rows : ) I'll try to upload a better version of this sometime. This was just a test drive xD

Hello --I too studied the Palmer Hughes course back in the 60's. I didn't play in over 35 yrs but now pulled it out of mothballs and am playing again. Keep up with the lessons -- you are very good now and imagine if you keep this practise up !
Best Wishes to you from Canada .

@myplace9 thanks :) although I'll probably be remaking this vid.. This piece has much more potential and I'm willing to bring it all out :D like I said in the description, I was ahead of myself even trying to play this one, but at the same time I was hella curious + I love the march. I've been thinking of the florentine march, also by Fucik, but in the end I quit.. too hard xD

Hello again...well it has been a while since I posted a comment on your site, and I enjoyed hearing your Gladiators again. Thanks for your reply and am happy to hear you going thru the books again. I still have mine but have found my Titano just too heavy, and so only pull it out now and then. I wish you a great New Year and all the best !

Hi Nancy - I also studied the Palmer Hughes course back in the 60's and did not play in over 35 years. I have started at the beginning and am working my way towards book seven - which looks so difficult. I cannot believe how much enjoyment I am getting from it now whereas years ago it was not the "in" instrument to play. Hope you're still playing. Best wishes from Ontario.

I just love it when your accordion videos come up in my RUclips feed. Are you still playing? Your posted videos seem to be 8 years old. I've just begun accordion this past summer and hope that I can accomplish some of what you have.

That's not good enough for a performance. I'm not one who likes the plastic, fixed, smile all the way through, but he looks *bored* throughout the whole thing, and whilst this is not the case, the appearance of the performer in a visual presentation does matter.

Great work! Is it a free-bass instrument you use to play this piece? Because of the 2nd part, where the melody is taken over by the bass...
