I don't think It's Still a Good life has a happy ending. The girl sends everyone to the cornfield and then relinks them to the world. Left to thier own devices and free to have more of the world to control

like the video! think the idea of giving any person omnipotence is pretty horrifying, even someone who you'd think would be good and would do good things with that level of power. But to give omnipotence to a child, an incomplete person who is so much less capable both of understanding the responsibility that should come with that power, and would be worse at controlling their emotions or realising that they should control their emotions, truly terrifying.

Thank you very much! I don't think I'm ready for three hours yet, but I definitely have some decently long projects I'm working on.

My favorite episode, and probably the best analogy of life under a totalitarian dictatorship imaginable. Very well done, and absolutely chilling.
Never even considered any type of religious connotations from this, as I’ve read a great deal of the history of the Soviet Union, the rise of the Bolsheviks and Stalin and Lenin in particular. Serling had a particular hatred of such totalitarian regimes, which came through quite clearly in several episodes. He also seemed to have a positive disposition towards religion, which you can see in episodes like “The Obsolete Man” (another of my favorites). That episode showcases both a positive view of faith, as well as the crushing nature of a totalitarian regime without regard to the humanity of its citizens.

Good video but you should really credit the artists for the music you use. What is the song at 14:00? Please reply

One of my favorite episodes for how disturbing it is.

I wonder if Bixby had children. Or maybe he watched a toddler throw a temper tantrum in a store and it occurred to him that if some little tyke attained godlike powers, he would be the scariest creature in the world.

He had 3 kids. No idea on their ages though.

I wonder if the boy was immortal or if everyone was just afraid to make a move.

    • @servomoore
      @servomoore  3 месяца назад

Well in the story they try to make a move and get cornfielded, so probably everyone was just afraid. If he's immortal I imagine he wouldn't care that people are trying to do him in.

It's very clear that you have almost no understanding of the God of Abraham, and you are comparing the story to a straw man conception of some other god that has been invented by modern anti-religious people.

Yeah like, strictly referring to God in the Old Testament I can kind of get it, but the New Testament is dramatically different than that.

As a believer in the God of Abraham ( I am a Catholic), I would respond that fortunately God is wiser and more loving than a typical human 3 year-old. Otherwise we would be in trouble.

I dont think so. Have you read the old testament ?
      Kings 2:23-24.
"From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. 'Get out of here, baldy!' they said. 'Get out of here, baldy!' He turned around, looked at them, and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys."

The video was going well till it got political and barebones understanding of God, for crying outloud Moses constantly argue with Him about the folk's stupidity and many prophets asked God not very kindly, a proof of our free will, we have discern to judge our decisions, good or bad God allows us since one cannot be truly good if there only was the option of being good, it's when being free to choose between right and wrong that one can be sincere on their cause
I feel the fear of Anthony is that of a kid with no full comprehension of right and wrong GETS to decide what's right and wrong because someone a parent should be able to educate is no longer accesible due to controling reality itself, like Dark Phoenix but more than just fear on common sense that a human can desintegrate other humans it's a stab at pride that "this shouldn't be happening"
