I think the '80's and '90's were the best years for ice skating worldwide. I really miss those days and those skaters.
Miel Mani They were the best. That level of performance sort of faded out in the early '00s.
The best two decades in the sport, definitely.
Also the best two decades for pro skating. The most meaningful pro competitions kind of faded away after the 90s.
Amen. I totally agree. The best...magical.
I agree! That was the height for me as a fan! Went to a tour they did. Don't care for it anymore. Love these fellas! Scott my all time favorite! Legend!
Now that’s talent! It’s not all about the jumps! These 3 do footwork like no other! Spectacular!! Those were the days! They should never have go rid of the compulsory school figures! Bravo gentleman! We miss you!
I so agree. It's all about showmanship to most. Any fall shouldn't be good enough for a medal!!
Totally agreed. I think Peggy Fleming fell on her Olympic free skate as did Kristy Yamaguchi. It’s good.
These Gentlenen are so missed. And I miss the Compulsiry figure work also . No one today seems able to skate like these three Men. Or if they do we viewers never getvto see it or aporeciate
I love the footwork!
Today s kids can’t do footwork worth shit!!!
I agree with you all! I miss it all. It’s all about these quad jumps. The school figures were amazing. I can still see them doing those figure eights in my minds eye. They way they would turn was amazing! The good ole days!
Man. I remember where footwork was really part of competition. I miss that so badly. It's all about the jumps now.
Go backwards, cruise the length of the ring, jump. Catch breath, skate, repeat.
Jason Brown has amazing footwork
Footwork has always been my favorite part of figure skating.
Yep. It's a bummer. Oops. I'm dating myself. Oh well.
No one skates like this anymore. This was figure skating at its best.
I think growing up having to do figures really makes a difference. You're so much more aware of your feet, your edge, weight distribution, etc. These have always been my favorites (plus Brian Boitano)!
The skaters of that time all had personalities and you knew they were having fun. Scott Hamilton saved the sport. He made people interested with his moves and Stars on Ice. Legend.
Before them, John Curry brought a lot of artistry. To the sport. I really miss pure skating. Now its just acrobats on ice. Bring back the Janet Lynns, Scot Hamiltons, Paul Wylies and the true artists that brought you to your feet and put a lump in your throat from the beauty of their performance.
I miss the days of the better skating . These three gentlemen were “ IT “ like totally . Super good footwork.
Three amazing skaters. A time when skating wasn’t all about the jumps. Always a pleasure to watch Paul Wylie.
This was the era when I fell in love with figure skating!
Good gravy, this is figure skating and why these three are legends. Thank you.
The three best ever entertainers on ice. Love.
That was FUN watching that fancy foot work!! Made me smile!! Those three were the best to watch in men’s figure skating!! So much skill, talent and joy!!!
Wow! Despite all the quadruple jumps the men can do these days, those were the real masters!
💖💖💖💖
Unbelievable....gives me chills every time...they're wearing mics on their skates, so COOL!
True champions…never to be replaced!!!
Tap dancing on ice! Fabulous ☮️💜🌈
It's just not the same now. These guys were sooo good.
These are my top 3 favorite male figure skaters of all time. I grew up watching them perform, and they will always be the best to me!
Today’s figure skating seems to be about triples, quads and how many you can land. I even heard them talking during the Olympics about some attempting a quintuple jump in the future. Yes, jumps are a compulsory aspect of figure skating, yet what’s in this video is sorely missing today with many skaters. This whole routine was done without jumps. It totally highlighted the extremely complicated and intricate footwork required by these genius skaters so that you don’t end up with your butt on the ice. Imagine trying to do that just on solid ground, but add that you’re trying to balance yourself on ice with a sharp blade no wider than a blade of grass. You have to respect their artistry and mastery of this extremely difficult skill. These guys were the best in their day.
Fantastic awareness in complicated executions of balance throughout THE FIGURE in figure skating of all Scott Hamilton 's, Paul Wylie's and last but not least Kurt Browning's cutting edges movements at blurring speeds. Through sound the microphones placed at the THREE PAIRS OF FEET emphasized the changes of edge and power of motion be it slow or fast. What a great idea to emphasize the amazing athletes Kurt, Paul and Scott are. THIS SHOULD BE A HERITAGE MOMENT for all to see FOREVER PLEASE and t h a n k y o u so m u c h ! ! !
Less emphasis on footwork and artistry, and more emphasis on quads have ruined skating. I love these performances from the 80’s and 90’s. 🥰
These guys are what skating is all about- miss them all!!
Oh the real men of figure skating! Those feet !
They were so great and the entertainment value they added just couldn’t be beat. I know it is all about the quads today, but they have removed most of the showmanship and artistic value from skating which made it so fun to watch. I don’t enjoy it like i used to.
2023 and these men are gold even today! Wow!!
And they still are in 2024! One of the reasons these three men were so exceptional was their mastery of the basic skating skills mastered in the school figures, which are no longer required in skating and, very unfortunately, the inferior command of the basic skills shows. A skater can jump well without them, but everything else they do on the ice is poorer without great basic skills.
Awesome! Great footwork! I vote for Scotty being the best but it is very close. Figure skating loses so much by focusing so much on jumps. Awesome footwork like this is just as challenging, difficult and entertaining IMHO.
One of the reasons why these three men are some of my all-time favorites is because they could each do programs where they did no jumps and I'd still be enthralled. That's one of my measures of a great skater (and why for at least the last 20 years ice dancing has been my favorite to watch).
NOT just as challenging, MORE SO!!
I loved the sounds of the ice! ☺️
I saw this in Philadelphia. It was awesome. When the three of them were skating in a line, Kurt actually went too wide and ended up on the carpet in front of the front row of seats and was on the point of his skates trying not to step on people's feet. I was sitting in the 3rd row. He came over after the final number and apologized to the fans.
I saw this in person and in the front row! It was magical!
Fanfreakintastic! Thanks for posting this "Battle of the ice skaters". I've never seen this before. I would love more footwork in ice skating than 3-5 quads!
I think I'm a third of the views in this video. It was how I fell in love with figure skating, a little more than 10 years ago. Thanks a lot for the upload. It brought me joy then, and keeps bringing me joy a long while later.
So great to see the guys out there having fun, again.
Such skill! Such joy! Such moves!
Who's the best? Who cares? It's always a pleasure to watch them all.
Thanx so so so much for sharing!
I love watching Men dance. Watching these men on ice is just as good. Love Scott Hamilton always have.
Simply awesome! I've never seen anything like it!
Die Eiskünstler !!!!Bravo !!!!!!!Schon lange her ,aber nicht vergessen!!!👍👍👍🍀🍀❤❤❤💐⚘⚘⚘🇩🇪
I would go every year to see them perform. I remember this routine very well.
This was my absolute fave year of SOI! This awesome routine, Gordeeva & Grinkov, so many memorable skaters and programs.
Those were the days my friend!❣️
Missing this art. Wouldn't be surprised if Scott had this unique idea + collaboration. Art for art's sake.
This was great. Lovely to see them doing something different ….
Telling a story without saying a word
I remembered Alexei Yagudin and his footworks. He is amazing, perfect.
Also Pleshenko did great footwork too, although I always preferred Yagidin
God, I miss those guys
Masters on ice for sure. ❤️❤️❤️
Loved seeing this but I feel sorry for whoever came on after this. The ice is screaming for a Zamboni .
I saw that live - so fun & exciting . All 3 were so terrific. Kurt the clown showed thru a few times.
Amazing!! They skate better than i walk . Incredible❤
absolutely the best. Thanks for the memories.
Never. Forget. Their. Talent skills and. Showmanship. Theatre. Ethics. For. Wonder. On ice.
Absolutely brilliant 👏 👌 😀 👍
My three favorite Male skaters of all time!
I miss these guys ...
I watched all of them....EXCELLENCE
I LOVE hearing the awesome sounds!
Loved this. Loved watching Kurt Browning when he Skated to Sing in in the Rain but my favorite Men's Skater was Paul Wylie.
They were such a thrill to watch!
Oh those three!🥰
WoW 🤩🤩🤩 They’re so amazing on ice!! I love them! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

WOW 😍 those were the days 🌟🙏🙏🙏🕊️🦋
Now that’s good foot work
Beautiful fancy footwork!
These guys are awesome!!
You can almost hear the word ring out after each beat …..(in an outrageous French Bayou accent): “Challenge!”
You are my ice HEROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who can outdo who??
Give ‘em a backflip, Scotty.
Show ‘em who’s best!
Love Kurt and Paul too. Got to see those three when the show came to my city.
I’ve gotten to see Scott 4 times through those years.
Each show was amazing. I never expected to see all those Olympic stars skating.
Love all 3 of these guys so much.
That was brillliant!
I sure miss those days.
Should be required viewing now adays
I sure hope all skaters who went professional became millionaires because there is absolutely no other entertainment like this!!
I'm a rollerskater, this is the best of the best
WOW!! Such great guys and amazing talent!!
Pure magic
When ice skating was more about entertaining than winning and scoring
Brilliant 👍👍👍
Definitely impressive! They deserve to have some fun and show off a bit.
So much fun! Loved it!
I miss those days!! They were the best 🙌
LOVED THIS!!!!!
Wow. I forgot about some of these incredibly talented skaters! Loved watching them during those years. Wonder what they are doing now.
Born to skate
Love it!!!
I miss them all!!! ♥️
Amazing
Wow!
The best ever, when skating was skating!
I loved watching this back in the day. I still wish they had done a jump and Kurt or Scott a backflip.
That was super cute.
Magnificent!!!!!
Amazing!!!@
Awesome
the best in the world, always
Master showmen!!
I miss the 80’s & 90’s skaters & mainly their choreography!! It’s just not the same anymore, it’s kinda boring nowadays!!
Sorry Kurt and Paul, but Scott always was my favorite and still is.
Aren't they great! 2 Americans & one Canadian...don't they play nice together? LOL!
Why don't people skate like this anymore?! 😥
This was from the pinnacle of figure skating. These 3 men are amazing! Now they just skate a little bit and do a jump. Then skate some more and do a jump. The women have to do some compulsory move where they lift their leg up against their ear and hold it. We call that move "The Fire Hydrant". Skating today is boring and repetitive.
I tried to do that one time...... 1 time! 😂
