    Dirty Harry's Peak has a special place in my heart! I had a really severe ankle sprain in late November 2021 and was told I might not run again. Starting when I could hike in March 2022, I would go as far as I could up DHP and then come back down when my ankle started struggling to keep up since I knew I had to make it down. I finally made it all the way up in July 2022 after going back to light running late spring. I had the same confusion about where the actual "top" was, but it was beautiful and perfect everywhere! Last weekend I just finished my first marathon since the injury, PR'd, and had very few issues with the ankle. I credit DHP with a lot of that recovery. I hope it's the same for you!

    • @allie_ostrander

    So glad you are able to run! Even walking for 1 minute, you still crush an 8 minute mile!
    When I looked at your Tuesday workout, the only difference between you and me, is that after 1:15 on the bike, I will only run to the refrigerator!
    That was great that you had a triple workout day and then paddle boarded. Good Lord do you have energy.....seriously, did God put coffee in your DNA?
    My only thoughts of your trail hike.....didn't know if that would be the best for recovering from shin splints, but on the downhill you were walking and not running, and you did very well.
    You have absolutely excellent cross training and are strrongg! I am doing a lot of cycling now, road bike and spin, as I might have a torn mcl, for which I had an MRI and see the ortho on Monday. I just want to be able to train for another marathon.
    Congrats on the new bike. I have a Nordictrack with rides from all over the globe, which comes in handy when in the Vegas summer, with the wind chill... it is only 112!
    Glad you are coming back so well! You go Allie O!

    Ever tried inline skating? For an endurance activity, it's quite brutal on the quads ( if you are basically squatting half the time as you should in midcuff or speedskates. Speedskates also demand ankle stability. Could either use them all the time or not at all. Trying to skate once a month in em would rattle my brain and spine and hurt my ankles. No issue in mid height ones)

    2 questions...
    1. What do you think caused your injury?
    2. Do you feel any fear when getting back into running about getting another injury? I always lack trust in my body when building back.

    • @allie_ostrander
      @allie_ostrander  Год назад

      1. I think that it was the added stress of racing and travel in addition to a slight increase in volume of training.

      I had them for few weeks now and of ive been researching a little bit about it so i found out that it is normal not to feel the pain in the middle of the workout. But if you feel sharp pain after the workout or when walking you shoud stop running for few weeks and focus on different types of workout such as biking, swimming or strenght training. Hope that helps
