I've been Mini 2 user for more that a year now and it's still satisfies me. I'm thinking about to upgrade to Air 2S but i will definitely keep my Mini 2 with me, it's my first ever drone.

I've been a hobby still photographer for 35+ years with gradually increasing interest in video and higher quality gear over the years. Today, I use some of the best full frame gear out there (just for fun). Lately I've been becoming more interested in drone video and I've never owned or even used one before. A few days ago I zeroed in on the mini 3 pro and was getting ready to pull the trigger. This video just changed my mind. I will start with the mini 2 and, if interest continues, I will upgrade the camera and drone features as skills improve (as usual). Thanks!

I have been looking into the dji drones, and this stood out to me. I want to get into flying drones whilst still having a better quality than a holy stone or a cheap one. I am going to be buying the mini 2 without a doubt. I am not worried about dark shots or star trails and such since I already have a gopro. This video was incredibly informational for me.

Great video as always Jake , I had planned to buy a Mini 2 as a compact unit to carry in my camera bag and traveling also on photography workshops until the mini 3 was announced , the Mavic 3 is just to big a unit to lug around for general use. Looking forward to see what you think when you get the 3 , I prefer the reviews from those who have bought them and don’t feel obliged because they received a comp unit from DJI. Have one ordered but in hands of the gods when it will arrive

I’m really enjoy my mini 2 ..it really helped me too fly much better and get incredible shots with my Air2s…once you get the basics down with a quality drone it really improves the experience when you upgrade to a better camera if the hobby is something you decide to continue

I’m keeping mine! No point upgrading to the 3! I rarely using mine when I travel and I only shoot in 1080p the night shooting in the 3 looks incredible with that 1.7 lens but I can’t justify the upgrade cost! That’s so many trips which is all my content is haha

Great Video Jake. I had to make to choice to wait for the Mini 3 or buy and Mavic Air 2. I went for the Air 2 (not the S). Comparing features and price now available on the Mini 3 I cannot justify a Mini 3. Only advantage will be size and for that is not really a problem. The added size/weight will actually help me.

I just bought the mini 2 a few days ago. My second drone, i caught it on sale from wal-mart. And it really blew me away. My first drone was a Vivitar VTI Phoenix which to me was amazing because i had never owned a drone before. I've always been on a budget. Seems like DJI is really the higher quality brand in the drone world today. Especially at wal-mart lol.

It absolutely is especially for the price, I have both a mini 2 and air 2s and even though the mini 3 is a fantastic drone I feel like for the money I would just move up to the Air 2s (if I didn’t have one) it’s creeping into the territory of prosoumer drones

I'm an intermediate drone enthusiast and I purchased the Mini 2 last week. For me, it has more than enough tech and features that I would use and most importantly it was just under budget. The Mini 3 looks to be an awesome piece but at this point in time spending that kind of money for a drone just doesn't make sense. Again would love to have one but it's not happening in the short term. The 2 will suffice for now. 😁

Really enjoy your work and have learned a lot. On the topic of the Smart Controller for the Mini 2: Comments are generally a year old and the DJI site now says that controller is not in production. Should I wait, or shop for a refurbished Smart Controller as an upgrade?
If you are thinking of getting the smart controller then have you considered just getting the mini 3 with the DJI rc?

I noticed that you flow a drone on the winner creek trail in girdwood just fyi there is a drone ban on that trail but I don’t think they enforce it.

I know the rules are easier pretty much everywhere but you will definitely want to make sure for where you are going. Look up Geeksvana on RUclips he is Europe based and give lots of good info

One reason I think that the mini 2 is better than the 3 is because of the fact that the mini 2 lets the beginners practice the actual drone controls while if beginners get their hands on intelligent drones that basically auto pilots, they will get addicted to the auto piloting modes and not being able to actually practice on getting better cinematic shots MANUALLY or being able to maneuver manually. I think The mini 2 is definitely better in this way.

I just noticed my dad has a DJI Mini 2 that's been sitting downstairs at his place for over a year. I asked about it and he went "ah yeah, I never ended up using it. you can take it if you want"

A big minus point that the mini 2 has is a lack of active track. Even the spark which is much older, has that feature so I don’t understand why not keep it for the “mini”.
True but you can now use active track with some third party apps
@@JakeSloan I didn’t even know this was such a thing until o watched your video. I had a DJI Spark (just sold it this week), and while a lot of people recommend that for a first drone, or at least did when they first came out, I’d have to disagree.
From the investment perspective I can understand, however something I heard you saying (not sure if on this video or another cause I’ve been watching a lot of your videos) and it hit home for me was: “you need to be feel on flying your drone”. That was my main problem! I never felt confident with the spark because it lost connection more often than not, therefore making me scared of flying it away so I would never catch cool footage. It’s lost connection at the beach, almost landing on the water which was a BIG scare. It’s lost connection in the woods and landed itself ways away on some bushes and fortunately I was able to retrieve it. So it made me frustrated and not confident at all. I’ll be buying the Mavic Mini 2, after watching several of your videos!!
Oh I also took it to Alaska with me early 2021 and it flew away into the whiteness 🥲. I honestly don’t know I stuck with it for so long!
Does the phone you use need to have a data connection? What I’m getting at is can you use a dedicated “old” phone as your monitor as long as it has the app downloaded, so you dont get phone calls while you are flying , or maybe you are searching for something like a lost dog or possession and you want to guide a helper to that location by calling them on your actual phone ?
You can use a device without a data connection no problem

I have learned to fly drones with a kind of Chinese copy of a DJI drone but it’s a Wi-Fi drone, it’s known as a SG907 max. It flies ok as long as you keep it pretty close or it gets very glitchy. I’ve practiced lots at is a flying through gaps and just getting used to the controls. The you cannot control the gimbal speed very well at all or the yaw which makes the videos look very poor.
I’ve been looking at the mini 2 for months now and I do not think there is a video on RUclips that I’ve not seen haha - I am currently a week into a 3 week stay in hospital.
Just before I came in here I bought a second hand mini 2 with the fly more combo, a hard case, a full 8 pack of unopened freewell ND filters which are £100 in the uk + the ND 1000 and 2000 which I will be learning more of. Further down the line. There’s still 9 full months of the refresh care left for me and there isn’t a scratch on it. I’ve learned an awful lot through RUclips so thank you for another cool video. I am having it brought in to me today and looking forward to registering with the app and adjusting the gimbal settings and yaw smoothness for more cinematic results. I personally don’t think the mini 3 is worth all the hype - yes of course it’s got better features but I’m glad you touched upon the 2 not having the sensors meaning you have to be in control and have more skill. I CANNOT WAIT to get out of here - find a big open field and fly this little beauty!!

I agree these are fantastic entry level drones, way ahead of what was available just 8 years ago when I first started flying DJI products. The Phantom FC40 was around $400 (in 2014 dollars) and not even close in what these drones bring to the table. Depending on you needs, and fiduciary responsibilities, I could see a beginner buying one even today and no feeling the need to look for more than what the Mini 2, SE, or even Mini 1 provides.

I wouldn't say that it's a beginnersdrone. Although it's easy to fly. I call it more a compact travelers drone. And yes, there will always be better and better ones. For me she is awsome.

I just got a mini 2, my second drone. My first one is a cheapo $130 snaptain sp680. The mini 2 is sooooo much more stable in hover mode. Easier to fly and the cam is worlds better. Maybe I'll give my snaptain to my nephew for his Bday...

Hello, I am about to buy one but I'm highly skeptical about it's video quality, is it any good as far as commercials, social media and overall movie production is concerned? I'm limited on budget and I'm just starting out, but I do want to make plenty of projects. Thanks in advance!
social media is fine but for anything like commercials. movies etc you will need something like the Mavic 3 minimum... but most movies wouldn't even use that

Which phone? If you are using an android device you need to download the app directly from DJI’s website
I am wanting to buy a drone for skateboarding edits having it in third person following the person would this be a good fit?
Also is there vr mode?
There is no VR mode and as to having someone follow you with it while you skate it definitely can be done but it would take a skilled pilot

Can someone please help me . I have my DJI mini 2 switched to where my firmware will automatically download when connection to WiFi . But when I turn one my go fly app it says I have 2 firmware updates. Again but when i power everything is powered up it tells me my firmware is up to date.
It will download but you still have to install it. Make sure your battery is fully charged and plan on spending about 30 min while having a good WiFi connection to make the upgrade
It is good unit for the price , for 300 dollars ? not bad at all. Soon enough , I want to redesign the drones , believe it or not , drone came from me , and I saw the prototype . Not bad at all . I will work on it soon enough .

Can you HELP me with a little knowledge on my firmware updates on my DJI mini 2 . When I open my fly app it says I have 2 firmware updates. It says download then install. But when I Connect to my drone and app and controller it says my firmware updates are up-to-date on my aircraft firmware updates why is that?
Make sure you stay connected to the internet and the drone at the same time
