you can see the back attachments in revenge of the Sith during the scene with the venator in dry dock on Coruscant after Yoda says "A prophecy that misread could have been." you can see clone troopers with the little antenna on their backs it hard to see but they are there, and there is the 2005 clone action figure with the antenna on their backs
the 2017 battlefront team did alright with the character designs, they incorporated the movie skins, and also for whatever reason just made up their own instead of using existing legions. If you watch ROTS there is a TON of unique gear that was never seen again, such as this weird double backpack thing that clones had on utapau. It would have been great for them to have dove into the original character models for the game like the boba fett team did to make the live action armor, because in that preview you can see that all of the add on gear from the film was attached and layered on to the character model to be added and removed at will for variations. It's really a shame that nobody except them has had access to that original model and textures and I really hope that some day a new game will come out thats using the exact model.

Thank you I’ve been saying this for the longest. Seeing the clone troopers without the different variations of customization makes them seem bland especially in the shows. In episode 3 you can see the 41st elite corps on coruscant with different back attachments. The 212th airborne troopers, 501st, 91st recon corps and more. I mean yes you can see the 91st recon corps with the back attachments in battlefront 2 later on but I think so many other legions could have had more customization especially changing the helmets.(barc, airborne, arf phase 2 etc.)

@@riddell26while I personally haven’t served in the military, I do know that while all boots on the ground soldiers usually have the same base kit, they also have extra gear to match what they need in the field. A medic wouldn’t need a bunch of explosives, and likewise a grenadier wouldn’t need a bunch of medical equipment. No functioning military gives every single troop the same exact same gear.
The artist working on shows and games that came out after the ps2 battlefront 2 game probably had a bunch of the hasbro toy clones lying around and used those as reference rather than looking in detail at the movie. Simplest explanation, there were tons of clone trooper toys and the standard clone didn’t have the back attachment
A huge amount of the clone action figures used to have antennas because they were based off the mold of a figure released for ROTS. I never even noticed the antenna in the movies until someone on twitter pointed them out and so i thought they were invented for the action figures for the longest time haha
Fun fact in current canon the turbo tank does show up on Hoth. The tie-in novel to the 2015 Battlefront game, Twilight Company, follows a Rebel infantry division through the GCW and that includes them fighting on Hoth where they repair and steal a damaged juggernaut. I don't think the specific model is named and the book came out before Rogue One, but I would imagine it would be the variant from that film rather than the huge Kashyyk one.
I completely forgot that happened in Twilight Company. That was honestly a really cool detail. It’s a shame we haven’t gotten a sequel to that book. I love the military perspectives given in that book as well as Republic Commando!

Feloni had no care when making tcw. If you look at any pre tcw clone wars content it all connects and it's far more in line with the characters and movies it comes between.
DICE stripped most of the clones from their additional gear when the big clone appearance update happened. The stupidest move ever btw. Those grenade/ammo attachments on the backplate are on the 91st BARC troopers in the game. Those could have been utilized on other units but they weren't.
I wouldn’t say that was the stupidest move ever, that title goes to the fact that DICE cancelled working on Battlefront II. However I do agree it was not the best move. But at least we have mods like the Movie Clone Troopers mod!

guessing its more of that the back hard points were re-designed or omitted. Clown Wars had back packs take the place of the hard points with the hard point really only being used for jet packs so redesign is more plowable.
Lego standard 41st troopers (not scouts) from 2014 have the back attatchments printed on their backs and commander neyo minifigure from the same year also has heavy trooper grenade pouches printed on his back, so someone still remembers them after 2005
From what I can tell, those figs have back attachments because they had them in Revenge of the Sith. Plus, iirc the normal phase 2 camo 41st trooper was originally an action figure before Lego made the fig but I might be wrong on that.

I feel this way about the lack of bandoliers and straps used for trooper armor as well, in the show they just used clone backpacks as a cop out for demolitions for example BORINGGGGG
While I do agree Dave has made some decisions that could’ve been done better, I feel like in this case the omitting of the back attachments probably wasn’t caused by him. That would likely be because of someone on the art team, who it was that modeled the clone troopers.

This gets kind of ridiculous. 1st of all, the first storm trooper costumes were made in like the 1970s. the clones from the prequels were made in like the 90s or early 2000s. the aesthetic has changed and if shows or movies bring back the og, it's for nostalgia sake. and then all the different trooper variants just get excessive.
If they finally gave all the clones the back attachments again, it wouldn’t be for nostalgia. It just keeps things consistent. The phase 2 clones had their back attachments in revenge of the Sith and its tie in media, it’s just a detail that should be kept. Every other tiny little detail from the phase 2 clone was kept, except for the back attachment. So if whoever worked on the clones for new Star Wars projects went that far to keep the design like that of the one in episode 3, they might as well add the back attachments too. Also, I have no clue what the stormtrooper costumes being made in the 1970s had to do with anything lol.

If they can make sure to use the correct variations of Darth Vader’s helmet depending on the time period, they can add a few boxes and cylinders to the phase 2 clones’ backs. They’ve already done it with Fireball and Nemic in the season 2 of the Bad Batch I don’t know why they couldn’t do it for the rest of the clones.

I think this equipment is best represented in the Star Wars mod for XCOM 2. You can customize your troopers with all these bits

working on a 2005 bf2 ish "reboot" game. No one has really made a galactic conquest or space battle that felt the same since then.
