    Another very detailed and enjoyable review. I just bought this bike yesterday. I tried several bikes of the course of two hours. I kept coming back to this bike. Great power, very light, and unless you look real hard you would not know that it was an E-bike. The Brose motor is so quiet and strong. I am very happy with my choice. Great review.

    Well thought out. My fav was the Raleigh 1020 from the 80's. Biking since tricycle and still is.

    The Raleigh name lives on…
    In the 1950s Raleigh was one of the biggest manufacturers in the UK, producing millions of bicycles exported all over the world. Today, as with so many of these famous marques, the bike is probably manufactured in Asia. We don't know who the designers are or anything like that.
    Still, a rather nice E-bike anyway :)

    For Mr. Reviewer... the thing that changes gears is a derailleur, pronounced "De-rail-er" not "De-rail-yer".
    I purchased this bike in Jan 2018 as a commuter Sweet, fast bike, love it for commuting and trips to the grocery store. A few things to note. The battery lasts at most, half of the rated range. My 10.5 mile commute to work is along a long, flat road at sea level with an elevation gain/loss of three feet. When I get home after 21 mile, round trip, the battery is nearly dead (one bar). I weigh 165 pound and set the assist level to medium or low. I'm disappointed in the range.
    I looked at a lot of different racks to add to the back. I settled on the Bontrager BackRack. It's so sturdy that I sat on it while my son rode the bike. Unlike most rack, this the Bontrager has a small metal plate to permanently mount a tail light. There are are wires power the headlight and tail light. There's no documentation on the wiring. I measured the output at 6 volts.
    The motor is silent. When switching between assist and off, you can't hear the motor turn on. At high speed you can't hear the motor. It really goes 28 MPH when the battery is fully charged. When the battery is less than 50% top speed begins to reduce. The large 27.5 inch wheels make it easy to pedal, even twit the motor off.
    Overall an excellent bike with a good price when on sale. Just wish it had better range.

      I purchased mine in 2018 as well, but am getting much better range than you are getting. Have gone over 30 miles on flat rail trail using mostly the cruise low power mode and only used about 3 bars. I regularly commute 22 miles each way to work in very hilly Vermont terrain using higher power modes on the hills and always have at least 3 bars left when I arrive.- I re-charge at the office. For reference I weigh 200 pounds and carry a pannier/briefcase.

      Rebecca Padula I am curious of what is the max range you have achieved ? I am looking for a bike that can handle a 40+ miles trip. Thanks.

    • @instantcoffeehouse
      @instantcoffeehouse 6 лет назад

      I have about 400 miles on the bike so far this summer but I have not maxed it out yet. On flat rail trail using mostly the lowest setting I have gone 30 miles on just under half a charge. On the super hilly terrain using a mix of ranges I get 27 miles or so and have 3 bars left over. ymmv.

    • @DK_427
      @DK_427 6 лет назад

      Rebecca Padula thank you for the info ! So I guess theoretically it can go 60 miles on a single charge of the terrain is relatively flat.

    My Redux iE is about a year and 1/2 old and I used daily (5 out of 7 days) for commuting to work. It was stored in my garage at night and in a covered bike room at work. One day a few weeks ago I went out to the garage and realized that the battery was not recharged despite being plugged in so I took the bus. After trying another charger and plugging the battery in following the proper sequence it still would not charge. After repeated attempts to communicated with Raleigh (which is a whole other story) I was advised to purchase another $700 battery from them and given an attachment on how to properly care for a battery. Felt like a big FU to me. My Redux sits in the garage drying my rain gear as I now use my regular non electric bike like I have for years.

    but over all yeah looks smooth poweful and quiet. if i got one i'd also go straight for integrated lights and suspension seat post.

  • @VideoNOLA
    @VideoNOLA 6 лет назад

    Most of the shock-absorbing seatposts max out at rider weights far below mine, so I guess I'll stick with a traditional seatpost and a nice, plush seat with springs.

    Love the design and look of the Raleigh ebike range, sadly not available in Australia. Raleigh is very under represented here but not sure why?

    I'm in the UK grew up on Raleigh bikes I still remember my metallic blue shadow Raleigh racer. I just went on the raleigh website in the UK guess what they don't do the Redux over here and nothing like it even! maybe its just too expensive to build for our poorer market and low demand.

    Like always, awesome review Court! I am deciding if I am going to get this or the turbo levo HT. I want more speed and I do not mind the suspension. Could you give me an honest opinion between the two. Is this zippier than the levo HT? Thanks in advance. keep it up Court.

    I don't know if anyone can hear that at just after 14:25, but that is the exact reason why you don't shift under load like that............Also at 15:41 you can see how the chain guard is bent and moves laterally as it is out of dish. Shame for such a pricey bike.

      Brian Moyers Thanks. Price shouldn't be imbedded 3/4 through the review and not reiterated...it really is one of the most important things...I understand why he doesn't do it though right at the beginning--he doesn't want to turn people off from listening to the rest of the review

      It's worth it, I bought mine at a discount price of $2600 But after riding it for eight months I would definitely by one at full price (But then again, my one has a brose motor and not Bosch)
