this song is one of the greatest things ever composed in my opinion, the way it seamlessly switches from the loud bits to the calmer stuff, the wonderful guitar solo... its absolutely magical
Dom's dad passed away immediately after the gig, not during this song (to my knowledge). That is why Stockholm syndrome was left off, because it was the last song they played. Citizen Erased was much earlier in the set, between Muscle Museum and Apocalypse please (only the 5th song).
Best song ever made, best album and best band ever existed! I love Citizen Erased but i am sad too because they does not play this song anymore! I WANT IT FUCKIN BACK! PLEASE, PLEASE, DON'T ERASE CITIZEN
i know, but you know, i want played more in all the world, i am from italy and, well, the only time they played it here in my country it was in 2001/2002 in milan
xXD14M4NT3Xx they played this song in Portugal in 2010 in a place with around 100.000 people and like 90% was stupid twilight fans. The result of that, was an obvious epic moment for any Muse fan turned in a moment where only 10% of the crowd sang along with the band, cause the rest of the crowd didn´t had a clue what music was being played. Sad but true...
Perfect song. Head-banging riffs, emotional piano part at the end, meaningful song. Such an under-rated song too. Epic performance, probably the best ever of this song, even better with the Take A Bow outro. Muse.
That´s why i love Muse, and specially this song You have a explosive combiation of THREE instruments played by gods playing the best song ever made. And in the end, you have the most beautiful piano outro ever composed. But this doesn´t finish there. Then you have the intro of a song that they will create 2 years later (in their 4th album, Black Holes And Revelations) What else i can say?
You got to know that Muse almost always play riffs of further tracks on every tours. Hysteria was played in 2002 at Rock Am Ring as a demo track, Stockholm Syndrome's riff and Butterflies & Hurricanes piano part was also played at Montreux 2002 and there's so many that I didn't mention. With Muse, there are always littles treats lol.
they played it in Portugal on the first gig of this summer tour, cause it was one of the most voted on their website.. When I heard Dom starting to play the drums like he does on this video I literaly started to cry, it was so amazing that no words can describe..
that being said, i'm still super pumped to see them (3 times) on this tour, and i'm really glad they're out with a new album. still good stuff and muse are still a kickass band, no matter what. and i'm glad it doesn't sound like their other stuff...the variety they bring to their music is amazing and makes them always feel relevant and new, and i never get tired of their music
MUSE, please come back to my part of the world to satisfy my addiction. I want to watch you perform over and over again. No one will ever top you. This is EPIC.
This is just..... epic and beautiful. Citizen Erased is one of my favorite Muse songs, and the Take a Bow outro was fantastic. The emotion in the crowd was evident too near the end (during the softer part of the song). I'm going to see Muse for the first time live this April. :D Very excited, but I wish they would play songs like this because their older stuff is better (not to say I don't also love the newer stuff). :(
One of the best songs ever! Could listen to it over and over again for hours. The melody, the changes, the tempo and tempo change, the technique, the vocals, the words, the meaning, the seven string guitar...the cresendo into the guitar solo....ahh amazing!!! It's a stroke of genius if you ask me.
My fave song of all time and an amazing performance. I'd say it's around this point where Muse had already fully matured into the same band they've been for the last 16 years - they've expanded in songs and live ideas but they still come across as the same band. The early vids (late 90s up to 2001) have a different sort of feel, more craziness on stage, and they still haven't matured - both eras awesome to watch though.
I got this a while ago, some genius (i don't know who or how they did it) intercepted BBC's sattelite feed so they got the entire concert in full and in extremely high quality. It was up for download somewhere, but i forget where exactly.
Seen them six times, they've played this only once, in Manchester at the Lancashire County Cricket Ground. First and probably the only time I'll be in a cricket ground. It was majestic. Worth the 10 year wait.
***** you have the right to like new stuff, but they have lost something. No one here is happy to say that. I loved them to DEATH. But they have become...commercial. Still a great band, but not as great as it used to be.
This is the best work of muse ever. ;Dø. and the best recorded version of citizen erased ever. No one can compete with this guy. Lead guitar Lead Vocal Lead piano. :D. peace out
Really a gigantic performance of Citizen Erased, doubly so because it's obviously pretty chilly there! Matt's voice is pure and as beautiful as ever. 6:40 he looks up at the camera, flashes his baby blues, but love the way he closes his eyes and is lost in the words most of the time.
@kapnzach I have a Takamine 12 string acoustic - the 9 string thing would put the headstock way off and the tension with the top strings would be entirely insufficient to offset the tension on the bottom strings The headstock would have to be modified to take into account the differences in tension caused by having 6 strings on top and only 3 on the bottom...
"take a bow" at the end never seen this before! love the way they dont rush songs out! matt must have so many ideas/songs to perfect cant wait for the next album!
im surprised chris still has the power of speech from the velocity in which his head rockets back and forward on every second ive ever seen of him, what an awesome guy and bassist.
Im an american...i want them to be popular enough to tour over here again, but i dont want them to become too mainstream over here. And damn you guitar hero.
Great song and this live version is amazing, he's really touching by the Grace, he's so peaceful when he sing it. Thanks for sharing and like kristianw600i, I'm pretty in a sad mood after that but in a beautiful way so...
Can we talk about the riff at 3:55 and how it was the thing missing from my life I never knew?
My walls were literally caked in jizz.
I'm getting a boner
this song is one of the greatest things ever composed in my opinion, the way it seamlessly switches from the loud bits to the calmer stuff, the wonderful guitar solo... its absolutely magical
hello, paranoid android
How can one person have so much talent. Rhetorical. He is one for the ages.
He is but as someone once said "there were three members of The Jam and two of them weren't Paul Weller". Same goes for this band.
Dom's dad passed away immediately after the gig, not during this song (to my knowledge). That is why Stockholm syndrome was left off, because it was the last song they played. Citizen Erased was much earlier in the set, between Muscle Museum and Apocalypse please (only the 5th song).
So sad
Wow! No way! In this performance, not only do we hear Citizen Erased, but also early forms of Take a Bow, Supremacy and Resistance! Thanks Muse!
What happened to the old muse? Listen to them live, listen to the full new albums. Not just the singles. They never went away!
Actually, we can say 'where is the old muse' 5 years ago. But with Drones, everything is clear
Best song ever made, best album and best band ever existed!
I love Citizen Erased but i am sad too
because they does not play this song anymore!
I WANT IT FUCKIN BACK!
PLEASE, PLEASE, DON'T ERASE CITIZEN
they played it in mexico recently
i know, but you know, i want played more in all the world, i am from italy and, well, the only time they played it here in my country it was in 2001/2002 in milan
xXD14M4NT3Xx

Tiago Neveda we had the same experience in france in 2010 ! I was in front of Matt and for sure I sang it hahaha
Best song. Best performance of it.
i have no words for that guitar solo.. just tears.. this song is a masterpiece
Take a Bow outro, 2 years before it was released :)
I miss this Muse!
I was just sat here thinking "wait, this is anachronistic AF!" I miss this Muse too... little easter eggs for fans in the future. Such genius.
"I miss this muse!" this guy said >>ten years ago
@@creekcoasterfans2608 ugh fans having a preferred era of their band? how dare they amirite?
get over yourself.
Perfect song. Head-banging riffs, emotional piano part at the end, meaningful song. Such an under-rated song too. Epic performance, probably the best ever of this song, even better with the Take A Bow outro. Muse.
The ending always leaves me in tears. Beautiful
Me too it’s insanely beautiful
That´s why i love Muse, and specially this song

What else i can say?
This isnt metal its alt rock
what intro are you speaking of? i honestly cant catch it.
OH Take a Bow, never mind.
Harry Francis I've always called their earlier stuff progressive space rock opera ^.^
Austin Batan thats the best description of a bands music Ive ever seen.
You got to know that Muse almost always play riffs of further tracks on every tours. Best band in the world at the moment - period.
"At the moment"
This is for me the best Citizen Erased live performance ever!
i can feel the energy of old muse
Best Muse era I think. They were mature as musicians, yet raw
this is my favourite song ever ever ever.
Yes me too
best song ever
One of my favorite live performances of any song just great all around
Best song ever
they played it in Portugal on the first gig of this summer tour, cause it was one of the most voted on their website.. When I heard Dom starting to play the drums like he does on this video I literaly started to cry, it was so amazing that no words can describe..
At 8:01 someone shouts something like "Take a bow, Matt!"
creepy....
time traveller👽
...and during when he played something on piano that just happens to sound like Take A Bow...
10 years late reply but i think he said something like "come on Matt!"
When you are such a fan you that you go to the past because covid won't let you go to Matt's concert
its really a big honor to play this song in the stage. :)
so epic.. so majestic..
Sick lab coat tho
Professor Bellamy: Doctor of Awesome
Used to want that coat so bad 😂
That ending....pure perfection!
that being said, i'm still super pumped to see them (3 times) on this tour, and i'm really glad they're out with a new album. still good stuff and muse are still a kickass band, no matter what. and i'm glad it doesn't sound like their other stuff...the variety they bring to their music is amazing and makes them always feel relevant and new, and i never get tired of their music

My universe❤❤
Mine too
there's music, then there's MUSE-IC
addicted to this one ... so so beautiful
pretty sad that doms father died that same day :(
realy? :,(
ItsCC13x still breaks my heart. Probably the best and worst day of Dom’s life
One of the best songs ever! Could listen to it over and over again for hours. The melody, the changes, the tempo and tempo change, the technique, the vocals, the words, the meaning, the seven string guitar...the cresendo into the guitar solo....ahh amazing!!! It's a stroke of genius if you ask me.
they gotta add this back to their setlists
the Matt's look at 6:39 is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
this song is amazing, MUSE IS AMAZING.
there are no words to describe them
My fave song of all time and an amazing performance. Dom, Matt and Chris.
u guys simply magnificient.
Take a Bow at the end was so sick
That opening is just amazing. It is instantly recognizable!
"WOPEN MINDED..."
Seen them six times, they've played this only once, in Manchester at the Lancashire County Cricket Ground. First and probably the only time I'll be in a cricket ground. It was majestic. Worth the 10 year wait.
Le CHEF d'OEUVRE ABSOLU !!!!!!!!!!!!
ouaip
Seen Muse live 6 times and I've been lucky enough to see this played 4 times, stunning each time! =)
Sickest song live. Or otherwise.
Hopelessly I love you endlessly, Matt.
I'm so seeing Muse this summer.
Take a bow
A treat indeed. Super cool to see earlier performances.
Musicians make music before they release it. ;)
Incredible, and nobody there that day had any idea what the outro was then!! We do now!!
Makes me sad watching this, what happened to muse
-_-
I am dealing with it and they are not in my opinion. Average at best.
I feel you
Nah they were my fav band ever and tbh still are but there last album was poor and resistance was good but not the level of quality of muse's previous
ItsCC13x nope its all the cheesy stuff and i duno i just feel like their missing the raw emotion they once had
This is one of the best vids quality wise, and one of the best songs on the whole of RUclips.
The songs aren't as good anymore, but live they're still great
***** you have the right to like new stuff, but they have lost something. No one here is happy to say that. I loved them to DEATH. But they have become...commercial. Still a great band, but not as great as it used to be.
***** They lost his special touch. Now they are a copy of other bands.
They've lost something, live they've almost improved
KremIsis Thank you. Exactly.
I can disprove your statement with one song.
The Globalist.
This is the best work of muse ever. ;Dø. and the best recorded version of citizen erased ever. No one can compete with this guy. Lead guitar Lead Vocal Lead piano. :D. peace out
These guys are so fantastically awesome. I love Matt's falsetto's :)
Nothing Else but a masterpiece
Very nice quality video. I had downloaded the full gig but lost it. Nice replacement watching CE on here.
One of (if not) Muse's best song. :)
YES! GONNA BE SEEING THIS A READING THIS YEAR, CANT WAIT!
one of the best muse songs!!!
I get goosebumps EVERY SINGLE TIME I HEAR THE RIFF BEFORE THE SECOND CHORUS AND DURING BOTH CHORUSES OMFGGGGGG JIZZ
How is this not on my favorites yet.
I still watch this everyday.
Absolutely epic song. Especially with that outro.
@kapnzach I have a Takamine 12 string acoustic - the 9 string thing would put the headstock way off and the tension with the top strings would be entirely insufficient to offset the tension on the bottom strings
The headstock would have to be modified to take into account the differences in tension caused by having 6 strings on top and only 3 on the bottom...
i could listen to this live version for days...
greatest song of muse of all time.. Matthew's voice is amazing..
Love this song best when it played live, it is fantastic, the power is awesome!!!!!!
"take a bow" at the end never seen this before!
love the way they dont rush songs out!
matt must have so many ideas/songs to perfect cant wait for the next album!
this song is so epic it should be turned into a movie
i love how people dislike this even though this performance was voted THE greatest performance of glastonbury EVER
i went to rock in rio this thursday (2 row) and they played this one! it was such an honnor!! i thought i would never hear this live! i love them :D
ive only seen these once, and its my only ever gig, and my fave band and it was at their homecoming gig
Muse's best song- hands down.
I recently tried to decide which live version of this song was best...but after every one I watch, all I think is "Wow, that was perfect!"
im surprised chris still has the power of speech from the velocity in which his head rockets back and forward on every second ive ever seen of him, what an awesome guy and bassist.
Soooo Glad I live in Perth, we got this last year, was freakin Epic!
Just amazing. Awe inspiring. Lost for words
My favorite song and my favorite album, Muse made something amazing with origin of symmetry
"For one moment
I wish you'd hold your stage
With no feelings at all"
one of my favorites!
The Ending Piano/ take a bow Intro, is just an eargasm coming from the deepest place of the humanity heart and soul!
Im an american...i want them to be popular enough to tour over here again, but i dont want them to become too mainstream over here. And damn you guitar hero.
awesome performance bravo la
best performance of CE ever... nie potrafię wyrazić tego po angielsku.. just awesome amazing and magnificent.
All muse songs are my favorites =P but this one is simply amazing!!
I love Take A Bow on Piano at the end... specially the song was even released until 2007.
I was looking for the words describing exactly the way I'm feeling at this moment ... Thanks ! :)
Beautiful.
Goose bumps and chills everytime :)
pure work of art, muse is the best!! btw i see the like and dislike button but where is the "LOVE" button, it needs to be added!!
1984 - This song makes so much sense now I´ve read the book... and I love it even more... :D
The glastonbury festival was one of Muse's best concerts!
top performance by fantastic Muse !
One of my fav muse songs! I wished they still made songs like this as I didn't really like their last cd
Damn good picture quality! My favorite Muse song :)
one of the best performance by Muse
Can't wait to see them in a week!!! :)
Great song and this live version is amazing, he's really touching by the Grace, he's so peaceful when he sing it.
Thanks for sharing and like kristianw600i, I'm pretty in a sad mood after that but in a beautiful way so...
