As good as the music is whoever did the mixing and put the video together is also a real talent! This is a very professional musical product.

Almost 10 years ago, I wrote a proposal for a service that would make it possible for musicians to play together remotely, across distances. Such a service would revolutionize musical collaboration, allowing for musicians to play together in situations where cost of travel, schedule, and practicality would not allow it. Musical education in bands, recordings for revenue, and so many other applications would be benefited by such a service. The problem with such a service: Physics! Latency. The time of flight for a signal, as well as the latency introduced by the transmission system means that playing a note at "the same time" is not possible. I believed then, and now, it is technically possible to create a synthetic "real time" experience that can overcome latency (more accurately put, factor latency out). This video -- by marvelous musicians -- has motivated me to do more work on the proposal.

I played 3rd trombone on this song with The University of Tulsa’s 3 o’clock Jazz Band at the NE State University Jazz Festival (an all day HS Jazz Band Contest) in Tahlequah, OK in 1980. We were the feature performers for the evening concert. David Sanborn was our guest saxophone soloist. We (with Sanborn’s unbelievable play) brought the house down with this song. Great memories.
