A lot of the suffering we experience in this life yes is based on our perception. Some of it is within our control too like quitting an addiction or getting some exercise to build confidence. However for some of the suffering beyond our control or why we suffer at all the Bible provides good answers for that. James 1:2-4 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. God does not waste our suffering. He is the author of all time and therefore nothing happens without some intelligibility, including our suffering which often grows us to gives us a greater appreciation of the goodness and beauty fo the world.
