    Further advice, for those whom, for whatever reason, cannot use sugar drops for gassing. Make your gasser solution 220gm dextrose in 200ml water & boil for 5 minutes, cool in the frudge.Using another steriized brew drum, decant your brew into the 2nd drum, with the cold gasser solution already poured in. Use your sterilized bottler tube for decant. Stir after decant. Bottle off your 23 litres, into well sterilized green or brown glass bcttles.
    Use the gasser drum to immediately start your next brew, as it is already sterilized,
    and ready to go. QED

  • @PulauSwan
    @PulauSwan Год назад +1

    Adjunct, sugar drops are useless unless u have 375 & 750ml bottles. In Indonesia, for instance, 330 or 620ml botols. Hence the 2 drum system is a must to guarantee accurate gassing measurement. Bob' your uncle & maybe your dad. 😂

    Firstly, I'm a mcicrobioligst, cleanliness is not stressed enough, wash your hands regularly whilst doing a set-up.
    Be careful how u open the can, try to sterilize your can opener. When inserting the Ozzie bottler, sterilize using SS tongs, boiling water and fresh clean tissue or brand new toilet roll tissue. Do not touch with your skin. If u do, wipe down with de-natured alcohol.
    I have never done s spec grav test in over 45 years of brewing. Always let your batch brew for a minimum of 12 - 16days. Use an airlock brew system too. More advice to follow, in part 2.

    Whats the alcohol percentage after brewed?

    • @boingkster
      @boingkster 11 месяцев назад +1

      Usually about 4.5% with the Coopers ingredients made to 23 litres. You can add white sugar or dextrose to boost this but too much will leave a thin and unappealing beer, however 6% is easily achieved.

    Can I use dextrose in place of the brew enhancer and the carbonation drops?

    • @MaaZeus
      @MaaZeus 2 года назад +1

      Yes, but the beer will be thinner. Not necessarily bad, just thinner in flavor and mouth feel as sugar only ads alcohol without flavor. Brew enhancer is a mixture of dried malt extract (aka spray malt) and sugar so it keeps things in balance.
      And carb drops are just sugar. Easy to measure the amount needed for bottling but I have had good results in using just sugar cubes too. Not as accurate as carb drops as their size (and weight) vary more, but it is close enough.

    • @BradGryphonn
      @BradGryphonn 2 года назад

      @@MaaZeus Cheers, mate. Thanks for that. Many years ago, before the horseless carriage, I used liquid malt in a brew. That wasn't too bad. And thanks for the info about the carbonation drops. I thought it was some weird chemical.

    • @dylangriffin534
      @dylangriffin534 7 месяцев назад

      Yes it does takes 6 days then test it to make sure the gravity is stable for 2 days in a row then it's ready to bottle, sugar is only used if you want stronger beer this makes around 4.6% clearly you don't listen

      @XxCherrybomb666xX Год назад +1

      From their FAQ
      "1. How does this design ferment beer properly if there is no airlock?
      Numerous commercial breweries, around the world, make excellent beer using open style fermenting vessels. So an airlock is not required for fermentation to take place. However, the DIY Beer Kit comes with a lid to prevent ingress of foreign organisms while allowing CO2 gas to escape."

    Coopers this is a new low with this fermenter! I have been brewing for 25 years and thought I would give it a go with hesitancy as its clear and i love the idea of watching the ferment! First lacto infected beer I have ever had....No seal, no airlock like this goes against everything we know as brewers AND A REALLY BAD ENTRY LEVEL KIT FOR NEWBIES!. Stop trying to be fancy you cant brew in an unsealed fermenter with no airlock unless you are educating brewers in how to brew sour beers. I have never had a scoobie growing in beer after 2 weeks, like I'm making beer not Kumbottcha!
