On our way out the store we were passing a vending machine with Crystal Pepsi in it. I hit the button while walking by and a Crystal Pepsi actually popped out! I always thought that magazine was true and I waisted the power on a free Crystal Pepsi lol
I thought that the plot twist was that you forgot about the Crystal Pepsi- unopened- in a sock drawer or something and sold it for $300 in present day. 💸
I freaking HOARDED ENTIRE BOTTLES of the stuff, for weeks, because I knew it would only be temporary. Thanks to that foresight, I drank Crystal Pepsi until well into 2017 (even though the deal stopped after August 2016, where I live). I only wish I could make the stuff myself.
I hoarded it during the re-release, and drank it for my birthday and Christmas. Sadly, some of the bottles I kept outlasted their shelf life, and deteriorated, though not to the point of the 20-something year old bottle that made Kevin Strahle sick.

I actually got to try the reintroduced edition, in my opinion it tasted better than the original. Probably because they had a couple decades to perfect the formula.

Then I highly recommend Simon Whistler, from "Geographics." That guy's voice is so wonderful to listen to, I could listen to him narrate the Holy Bible for four hours, and not be angry.

Crystal Pepsi had flavoring from either cloves or cinnamon added to it, which gave it a strong aftertaste. I was ticked that Pepsi sabotaged their new product, because I would have been a steady customer.
Me too. I was furious at Pepsi for a couple of years after they discontinued it, and even more furious at Coke when I found out a few years later that they had sabotaged Crystal Pepsi. I refused to drink Coke products for most of my teens as a result.

Funny you posted this. I consider myself the crystal pepsi super fan, I have probably the largest crystal pepsi collection in the United States if not the world. Complete with German, and french crystal Pepsi's, a real crystal pepsi igloo, clocks, glasses, pins, cups, hats, every size of bottle they ever made. I even own the original Crystal Pepsi Prototype bottle presented to Pepsi executives with paperwork to prove it. Also own several sample bottles never sold. As well as a couple misprint bottles. Their are almost 100 pieces in my Crystal Pepsi collection. It is my pride and joy.

I liked Crystal Pepsi, first time around and when they re-released it! I wish they had it all the time or at least once a year, like the McRib. I remember SNL made a parody of Crystal Pepsi, Crystal Gravy. It's still online and still funny.
But it's usually the darker liquors used in cola mixed drinks. Like rum or whiskey. I'd imagine a clear Cola and whiskey would have an appearance similar to ginger ale. Soda mixed drinks aren't typically known for showy appearances like true cocktails.

I absolutely loved crystal pepsi back in '92 (sacramento test market). I remember when our junior high got our soda machine in the gym and you had to be there immediately after it was stocked or you wouldnt get any. We'd all pump our lunch money into that box and i would (pre-braces with crooked teeth) bite thru the side of the can like teen wolf and spray the stuff all over the place. A few years ago when it came back i managed to get a couple 20oz bottles of crystal pepsi from the only place i could find that carried it, cvs. I would still drink crystal pepsi if it were available, but sadly its gone again. I was 12 in 1993, I loved Crystal Pepsi and knew nothing of Clear Tab, what is strange is I've always said that Tab tastes like what I remember Crystal Pepsi tasting like.
There was this other short-lived soda called “OK” came out in 1993 with a distinct black color can, and an interesting marketing campaign where you call a certain number to hear funny “ok” messages. IIRC it was a Coke product. I liked it and tasted like an orange based soda with a hint of coke and 7-up.
I was thinking about OK Soda when he mentioned Providence as a test market for Crystal Pepsi. I was going to College in Providence when it was a test market for OK Soda.
I never drank regular (non diet) soda (still don’t) but I was obsessed with Tab’s pink energy drink. It was still sold around 2006-2007 but then it disappeared. I loved that stuff!

I remember seeing a two litre bottle of this stuff in a store as a VERY young kid. I later told my "unit" about it, and they promptly proceeded to discount my story. Then they brought it back, and I KNEW my memory was real! I gotta say-- I don't know jack all about the original-- but I was IN LOVE with the new stuff!! People sayin' it was just pepsi without the color are dead wrong. Yeah, it TASTED like pepsi-- but it was a lot smoother and lighter. It was kind of like if your tongue could hear flavor, it would have been coming through an old low fi phone speaker. Shit was AMAZING and it PISSES ME OFF they shut it back down!!

That’s funny. My comment is I don’t drink soda because it’s corn syrup and acid, both poisons. If I’m going to take in a poisonous product, I might go for a donut or Mac n cheese, but certainly not soda!

the brown color is the natural color of colas, clear cola has more artificial additives to remove the color

They should have clear cola for mixed drink appearances. Huge opportunities there.
But it's usually the darker liquors used in cola mixed drinks. Like rum or whiskey. I'd imagine a clear Cola and whiskey would have an appearance similar to ginger ale. Soda mixed drinks aren't typically known for showy appearances like true cocktails.

I’m sure they have something equivalent to it here in the US still. Mountain Dew always has a bunch of berry flavors. I don’t mind regular Mountain Dew once in awhile, but otherwise I prefer the regular, or original flavors for soda. I like the actual flavor of some of that other stuff, but it’s just too sweet for me to drink more than a sip or 2 of. Lol 😂
I absolutely loved crystal pepsi back in '92 (sacramento test market). I remember when our junior high got our soda machine in the gym and you had to be there immediately after it was stocked or you wouldnt get any. We'd all pump our lunch money into that box and i would (pre-braces with crooked teeth) bite thru the side of the can like teen wolf and spray the stuff all over the place. A few years ago when it came back i managed to get a couple 20oz bottles of crystal pepsi from the only place i could find that carried it, cvs. I would still drink crystal pepsi if it were available, but sadly its gone again. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.

I was 12 in 1993, I loved Crystal Pepsi and knew nothing of Clear Tab, what is strange is I've always said that Tab tastes like what I remember Crystal Pepsi tasting like.

There was this other short-lived soda called “OK” came out in 1993 with a distinct black color can, and an interesting marketing campaign where you call a certain number to hear funny “ok” messages. IIRC it was a Coke product. I liked it and tasted like an orange based soda with a hint of coke and 7-up.
I was thinking about OK Soda when he mentioned Providence as a test market for Crystal Pepsi. I was going to College in Providence when it was a test market for OK Soda.
If they brought it back now it would do pretty well.. especially in the mixed drinks market..
I never drank regular (non diet) soda (still don’t) but I was obsessed with Tab’s pink energy drink. It was still sold around 2006-2007 but then it disappeared. I loved that stuff!
Now that you have done this video I would love to see you do a history of Tab cola. I remember it when I was a kid, what happened. I always think of Back to the future when Marty asks for a Tab and the guy says he needs to order first.

Man, I loved clear Pepsi! I never saw ads, didn't watch tv much as a kid because I was busy playing outside most of the time and distracted by playing with our cats when inside for the night. L A Beast here!!!! I loved watching that dudes videos. I was stoked when he managed to get crystal Pepsi back and I even managed to grab a few.
I remember seeing a two litre bottle of this stuff in a store as a VERY young kid. I later told my "unit" about it, and they promptly proceeded to discount my story. Then they brought it back, and I KNEW my memory was real! I gotta say-- I don't know jack all about the original-- but I was IN LOVE with the new stuff!! People sayin' it was just pepsi without the color are dead wrong. Yeah, it TASTED like pepsi-- but it was a lot smoother and lighter. It was kind of like if your tongue could hear flavor, it would have been coming through an old low fi phone speaker. Shit was AMAZING and it PISSES ME OFF they shut it back down!!
The diet version was somehow better- funny thing is I didn’t even buy it when it came back out a few years ago

I remember liking it enough to try it a few times, but not enough to notice when it was discontinued.
There were a few other clear sodas at the time, but maybe not nationwide. Snapple had a "True Root Beer" and clear cherry soda before the Pepsi and Tab offerings.
