Democracy Now! speaks with legendary singer, actor, humanitarian and activist, Harry Belafonte about the first two years of the Obama presidency. "I think [Obama] plays the game that he plays because he sees no threat from evidencing concerns for the poor," Belafonte says. "He sees no threat from evidencing a deeper concern for the needs of black people, as such. He feels no great threat from evidencing a greater policy towards the international community, for expressing thoughts that criticize the American position on things and turns that around. Until we do that, I think we will be forever disappointed in what that administration will deliver."
Belafonte was interviewed at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

I know the liberal machinery inside and outside of hollyweird really hated Harry because he was not a team-player. In this video, it seemed like Harry was talking in eloquent riddles with no real point. Then I understood that his statement or point is not only accurate, but it was also "prophetic". Do the liberals of today hold their own accountable? I think NOT. We conservatives trash our RINOs and tricksters all day long.

Harry is so honest and outspoken, and can disagree in a manner that is respectful, rational and sophisticated...President Obama should listen and take heed to what Harry says, because he's speaking as a man who has lived in several eras and who has become an enormous reservoir of knowledge and intellect that have been formed out of his experiences, reading and the many intellects and influencial persons he has known, persons such as MLK, Eleanor Roosevelt, Malcolm X, and the list goes on and on.

4:30 to 4:55 Damn! Someone spoke the truth! The president was elected by the popular vote yet none of his supporters held him accountable during his presidency. Instead they let his critics pull him apart and they let him revel in the power of the political office. It's no wonder that no democrat running for office wanted his support during the midterm elections, he wasn't speaking for his supports because his supporters never told him what they needed support in so instead he pursued his own centrist agenda that nobody was interested in! Damn Harry we need more people like you today. Generation X and the millennial's don't have a leader or a clue!

Belafonte doesn't factor in the fact that the Great Depression and the rise of the Soviet Union gave socialists and communists enough power to make the government have to give it's people some security and civil liberties in order to prevent a revolution in their midst. The black civil rights in the South didn't come until the 60's and then it was the anti-Vietnam War protesters uniting with the Black Civil Rights movement which made the difference........not Roosevelt. All of those factors weren't present in 2008.
People did elect a black President who promised them socialist values and a non interventionist foreign policy, that was a major give away externally for those in power, but it was superficial. When they got it the people sat back and hoped for the best, didn't get it and gave him another term with a smaller majority, hoping for the best again. When they didn't get it the second time around they gave the finger to status quo neo liberals and voted for an outspoken business man/game-show host who promised them jobs and non interventionism. They didn't get the jobs and the non interventionism is now talking a turn to creating new wars while putting the old ones externally on hold while ramping them up on the sly in the hope that not enough people notice to make a difference.
The economy has been held up with freshly minted money and the next impending crash will make us see what it'll make people do. Someone has suggested it will be split into several smaller crashes which might water it down in an immediate sense but will be devastating all the same albeit in a slow motion, delayed reaction manner.

Obama was a fool to not have this man as a senior advisor. He would have achieved so much more for his country. Obama made me feel the role of the US President was a powerless role, except for being involved in war. I like the man and he made great speeches - BUT he is the one who should have sorted out the police /black culture problems, in his time. He should have been angered into passionate action seeing all the telephone video evidence of police abusing/shooting against his own people.

When Castro took over Cuba among the first things he did was take over health care and education that way he controls peoples health if someone disagrees with not so likely to get better and also to control what people think. U.S. has a national healthcare system called the food and drug administration maybe has something to do with the high rate of obesity, diabieties, cancer, heart attacks, strokes, addictive prescription and over the counter drugs.

I have held these opinions about Obama since before his first rigged election. I was criticized by friends and family who saw him as some kind of national savior...and why not? That's how he portrayed himself. Some of those critics have certainly changed their opinion of his progressive opinions about how the country "...of the people, by the people, and for the people should be run. The USA is not an autocracy, as I feared Obama would like to have it. According to our Declaration of Independence and our constitution we are a democracy, but we have a long way to go to redeem her from his devastation and abuse of power. God bless America...again, please.

Every civilized country in the western world has a nationalized health care system & most are not a drain on the economy, why doesn't the US? We have a National Healthcare System & I have a business. When I do my tax return, even though I have private healthcare I still have to pay for the National Scheme, & it doesn't bother me. Why? Because I know it helps the overall community, and me, because even with my private cover I still use government hospitals. It's not a burden on the economy.

I read where Billy Meier spoke directly to, or by telepathy with a core group of Pleiadians/Plejaren, or Errans as he also refers to them (Erra being their home planet), who gave their names as "Ptaah", "Semjase", "Quetzal" and "Pleija", among numerous others. The etymology of those words are; Ptaah-a corruption of Phat meaning, superb or terrific. Quetzal, from QUETZALCOATL a Toltec god & Pleija from plagarise. Meier is no different to L. Ron Hubbard who came up with similar BULLSHIT years ago

Actually in the US, the high rate of obesity has nothing to do with health care but what they put in their mouths, & all the other complaints follow. Cubans don't suffer much from that. From what I saw of them, they are all skinny & healthy, if not a little hungry.I met a lot of Cubans when I visited there because I lived in ordinary Cuban houses not just 'casas particulares',& relaxed with them, in all different communities. Most seemed happy & those that complained did so lightly but in private

Thanks to the US, Cuba exists on a very fine line. & I can't imagine how difficult it would be to keep order. I know of the secret police operating there & when I was there, warned about them. Conditions are gradually easing One of the Cubans I stayed with is now visiting in Vietnam. A cuban who used to live & work here in Australia is now living back in Cuba. So I can see that things seem to be slowly getting better & will continue to do so with Raul and the more moderate leaders.
