Activision/ Harmonix: Same thing with 'Beast and the Harlot' and 'Caught in a Mosh' (But to be fair, they are running out of good Rock/Metal songs and tbh the WOR version was DLC the actual setlist for WOR was pretty good at finding what's left and giving some diversity to keep the setlist fresh with some lesser known songs like 'free ride' and what not. So give credit where credit is due there)
I find it a little funny how similar RB3, GHSH and GHWOR charts are, and then you look at GH2 during the solos to see they did something way different cause they had to do wavegroup covers for most of the games songs till after they released GH3. And even then, they still had to do cover songs, but I think some of them are better than the originals
Smash Hits version is absolutely the best in my opinion. It seems like Beenox paid the most close attention to the music, so playing through it helps you appreciate all the little details of the track more. But also, it looks the most fun to play. They made choices to add in all the little grace notes and slides to keep in interesting.
I guess GH 2 might be based on a live version or something, since Harmonix did do extended solos and such on first few games. Also while we are on here RB games do tend to cut some songs short, like Eye Of The Tiger, Pull Me Under and this just end much shorter in RB, and then you have something like Next To You that preserves all of the song with the final part you don't even hear ussualy.
GH2 and GH1 had to do covers for most of the songs in those games since they couldn't get the licensing for the songs. That's why when you look at chart comparisons with those games compared to later ones, it looks like a giant mess sometimes.
Imo the Wii chart is by far the worst, and the GH2 chart is the best surprisingly. Also I think another somewhat interesting comparison is First Date. GHVH never had an export but the song was released as GH5 DLC with a different chart and also released as RB DLC.
Such an anomaly of a song to have 4 separate charts from two different series. Still, I think the best one is the GH Smash Hits one. Sort of found the taps in the beginning odd, but at the same time unique. How drastically different other songs between RB and GH can differ, cause I can't think of another comparison that can have a 4 way comparison. At best we can get three different charts thanks to Smash Hits. Unless we want to compare GH: Live in which case, it seems like an unfair comparison since it's not a 5 fret highway... Rock Revolution? lol
Doesn't TTFAF have like 4 or 5 different charts overall? GH3, GH:SH, RB3, GH:L (or was that a custom one?) and probably some other chart I forgot about.
Guitar Hero 2: Outdated version Rock Band 3: Updated version using an outdated engine (no extended sustains, tap notes etc.) Guitar Hero SH: Updated version (included extended sustains, tap notes etc.) Guitar Hero WOR: Updated version 2.0?
That’s funny. It’s like I listed these charts a few weeks ago. And being a cover, the GH2 version does seem a bit off at times. And the RB3 version looks a tiny bit shorter.
I can understand the RB and Smash Hits charts being different, since RB doesn't want to directly rip the GH2 chart, and Smash Hits usually has different charts (like TTFAF). But Warriors of Rock? Damn.
Yeah, it's really interesting how all the charts look different. Imo I like SH chart better, but if you like any other chart (or don't like the song at all lol) then that's fine.
Free Bird is my favorite of Lynyrd Skynyd of all Time and Hardest any Guitar Hero and Rock Band too Rip Ronnie Van Vocalist and Rip all people pass away 2020 and 2021
Still wonder why they shortened it for the BRE by that much, cutting out the first part, moving the drum hits, and exchanging the lead guitar for the piano
I still find it completely pointless that Freebird (and the live version of Sweet Home Alabama) was released as DLC for GH5/WOR with a completely different chart when it was already included with the bare minimum of export songs from Smash Hits. They did know Skynyrd had other songs right???
Since you have been first comment in a lot of his videos. I want to say. You are the champion, my friend. And you keep on hiding till the end. You are the champion.
Will you be doing a chart comparison for TTFAF? I know of only 3 versions (GH3, GHSH, and RB3) that use 5 frets, so unless the 4th is GHL then idk about another chart.
RB4 has a different chart too. It was also included in RBVR, but I don't know if that has a unique chart. I'm not planning on making one for TTFAF, but you never know..
Should I make my own chart to this? Aside from the Guitar Hero 2 chart (which is a cover unfortunately), I am not happy with any of these charts! The Beenox (Smash Hits) chart is too messy. The Neversoft (WoR) chart is too inaccurate in a lot of places. And the Harmonix (Rock Band 3) chart doesn't have forced notes, tap notes and extended sustains. And is inaccurate in some areas.
The GH5 DLC (on Xbox 360 and PS3) is the exact same chart as in Smash Hits. The Wii chart is different. I labeled it as Warriors of Rock since that was the game I played it on, but I really should've labeled it as (and played it in) Guitar Hero 5 for accuracy.
Hey look, its the amount of guitars that are in the actual recording lol.
Lol
definitely one of the most cursed chart comparison videos
GH2 is just built different
GH 4

@@theharvardyard2356 I think what he meant is that all versions are different from each other

Sometimes, times like this, I wish the later GH's and RB had and option to play lead and rhythm guitar.
Sometimes GH3 has the option to play Lead or Rhythm guitar, like with Helicopter.

@@LimitlessGuitarHeroChannel Actually it does. GH3, GH: SH, RB3, and RB4. GH: L was official, but it's shortened.
The taps in the beginning are because in the actual song, it’s played with a slide
Guitar Hero 2: Outdated version
Rock Band 3: Updated version using an outdated engine (no extended sustains, tap notes etc.)

it's shorter because nothing was added to the outro

Yeah, it's really interesting how all the charts look different. Imo I like SH chart better, but if you like any other chart (or don't like the song at all lol) then that's fine.

the song may be called free bird, but your eyes wont be free after watching this.
"Free Bird but things weren't the same"
Great comparison though I would pefer gh2 chart because it sounds awesome and fun to play the solo.
All the charts: and a bird you cannot change
Is it even really fair to put GH2's version in here considering it's a cover and a bit different than the rest of them?
Eh, it's fair enough. The cover stayed pretty true to original for most of the song, although it does diverge a bit toward the end.
Damn, you already won me this comparison
😅😅😅
Wave?
Still wonder why they shortened it for the BRE by that much, cutting out the first part, moving the drum hits, and exchanging the lead guitar for the piano
You'd expect that at least two of these would be near identical.
Correction: it was GH5 Wii who had the different chart as a DLC, otherwise great comparison! :)
Yes this is true, I really should have indicated it as DLC in the video
I can tell why this song is so hard cuz the solo last for so long
