Thanks for the tutorial! I was wondering how to make my bubble skirt more full because I’m using a flowy cotton voile. I wouldn’t want the tulle teaching my skin so would you recommend sandwiching it between the two layers?
Hello! I am permanently separating a balloon skirt and beading the outer layer by hand and wanted to know as to how I would finish the raw gathered hem edge? It has folds, and I don't want to disrupt the design.
Sounds like a great project. Are you hoping that it with turn back into a balloon skit hem? Or are you good with it looking like a circle skirt hem. There are many different ways you can finish the hem it only depends on what you mean by disrupt the design?
@@patterningcreativehadleydike yes I was just separating the layers but was wondering if it would stay a bubble hem or if it really needed the lining layer attached?
@@violetadominguez6632 To keep the hem looking like a bubble hem you will need to reattach the inner shorter lining. That makes it so that no stitch lines are seen at all and the fabric is pulled up.
So how imporant is using an actual tailors ham? Ive been using my stuffed animals as tailors hams for ironing purposes bc ive been resistant to buying one.
I have also used random items when a ham is not available. It can be a very fun way to problem solve! You can also make your own hams like bitchskateboards said. It can be a great way to get rid of some scraps.
Just be careful that your stuffed animals aren’t made from polyester or other synthetic fibre or you might melt them. I personally don’t use my ham super frequently, but when I do need it for a project it’s been irreplaceable to me. I personally think they’re worth it, or maybe you can make one with cotton scraps.
@@hannahofhorror yep I second this! B very careful using the ham on synthetic material! if you do need press synthetic make sure to set the iron to the “synthetic” setting if thats a kind of iron you use!
I am so glad you made this tutorial! I'm going to make a off the shoulder dress with a bubble skirt out of a old project!
That is so great! I would love to see it once you are done. I also have a video on how the bubble skirt is drafted if you need to reference that!
Wow! Had to watch this a second time to understand… whew! Thank you for learning sth.. it came out pretty ❤
Glad it was helpful. I do love the look of Bubble hems!
Such a good informative video! You seem like a pro, don´t know why you haven't been fully discovered yet!

Hello!
Hello also, I'm just starting sewing @patterningcreativehadleydike
I've been given a sewing machine and you make it sound easy
It is not always easy but there are so many different amazing thing you can make when you sew! I hope you create something amazing!
I love it 😍😍😍
Thanks! Do you think you will make one?
Thanks de Colombia
You are welcome.

Yes I would put it in between the layers for sure. You could also flatline the tulle to the outer layer to help provide stability and fullness.
@@patterningcreativehadleydike thank you!! Is flatlining a technique?

Oh ok I see! I will do that. Thank you so much
Love this! what fabric did you use?
This is cotton but you can use so many different types of fabrics!
I didn't get it because i only see is your hands and the machines but the part where u sew? I think its good if the camera is in the top not on side
Thank you for the feed back I will take that into consideration.
We need measurements please
The measurements would vary depending on your size, how much gathering you want and how long the desired length it.
Where is the pattern??
I have not made a pattern yet but it is on my list to get made Lots of people have asked.
Los podria subtitular en español? Gracias
I will look into it.
The skirt came out so good but the video left me so confused because I can’t see what you’re doing or what the pieces are or how they match up
Yeah I had gotten that a few times. I am planning on remaking the video and doing a better job and slowing everything down.

U can make/sew a tailors ham from some scraps & poly fil

Very cute but I have no idea where all the pieces you cute went. They just disappeared.
Thank you for the feedback I will try and explain better in the future.
You’re so fast! 😂
The video is sped up some too. I have been trying to slow my explinations down.
The video was moving too fast.
Thank you for the feed back I will slow down my videos!
Too fast, I didn't learn anything 😔
Thank you for your feed back. I will slow down in the future.
You’re not showing us what your doing properly.
Thank you for your review. I will do better in the future!
