There was nothing quite like Nicktoons, in terms of its branding, devotion to 24-hour cartoons, and eventual original programming. Without this channel, I wouldn’t have found cartoons I missed out on in my early formative years like Jimmy Neutron, Mighty B, Barnyard, CatDog, Danny Phantom etc.
While the branding is still top-tier, it’s nothing more than a rerun farm and dumping ground for shows Nickelodeon doesn’t like anymore

According to the creator of Kappa Mikey, the Guano suit used in those mascot bumpers got thrown out when they had to move offices, and thus it was very likely destroyed.

Honestly, NickRewind should just become its own channel, taking up either NickToons or the entirety of TeenNick, because now they’re airing nearly all the shows that NickToons was originally intended to showcase, with the only relic of the network’s golden age still airing being Jimmy Neutron.

It was understandable for Teenage Robot, The Mighty B, Fanboy and Chum Chum, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Tak, Breadwinners, Penguins, Back at the Barnyard and (especially) The Fairly OddParents.

Not really running classics. And Nick Rewind just died, so, yeah. Outside of nostalgia and to try to peek at what slightly decent(and I use that term very loosely) stuff they have coming out(if there is even anything within my interests), then I have essentially given up on Nickelodeon(and I'm 15). The past nearly 13 years have proved that Nickelodeon doesn't care about what(EVEN THE KIDS WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)..... Oh, and Nickelodeon isn't even ours anymore, we're dead to the network outside of occasional nostalgia grads the minute you turn 14.

Yeah like, the Nicktoons branding from around 2005 to late 2009 was so top tier. Even though the channel was relatively outclassed by networks like Disney, DisneyXD, and Cartoon Network, I probably ended up watching more Nicktoons in the latter half of the 2000s because of reruns and the awesome branding. I find it impressive that Nicktoons' style actually kept me more than absolute taste defining blocks like Cartoon Cartoon, CN City, and Toonami. The way Nicktoons also touted the Burbank studio made me like it more because I used to live in the next city over. Felt awesome.

Nicktoons Network was Viacom's version of Boomerang. It's also the place where many show's final episodes air before they get canceled. Here's the list of shows who suffered this fate:
    Invader Zim (2001-2006)
My Life as a Teenage Robot (2003-2009)
    The Mighty B! (2008-2011)
    Sanjay and Craig (2013-2016)
    Breadwinners (2014-2016)
    Harvey Beaks (2015-2017)
    Pig Goat Banana Cricket (2015-2018)

A reason that era will always be special to me is the fact that this was also around the time live action started to really take over the other networks. Cartoon Network was starting to experiment with reality shows and eventually had the whole CN Real thing, and while Disney Channel always had live action the ratio started to lean heavily towards tween sitcoms and away from cartoons. So it was nice having a whole channel say no and stay away from the reality show trend. “We are ANIMATION 24/7!”

Even though the network, and many of Nick's channels in general, drastically changed within it's branding and programming since late 2009, I still had just as much fond memories of that era of Nicktoons from 2010-2013 as back when it was called "Nicktoons Network". • @erikwarde1818
    @erikwarde1818 2 года назад +3

Nicktoons Network in late '05 was... okay. But it was nothing like that era in 2004. "Nicktoons" that existed in 2004 was truly the peak of that channel. It was basically like watching Nickelodeon in the 90's. Not only were all the best shows like Rocko, Hey Arnold, and Doug were there, but there was even a lot of bumpers and shorts like Jerk Chicken and Fish Out of Water that I remembered from mainline Nickelodeon from the 90's and early 2000's. Not to mention, it was cool being introduced to foreign cartoons like Kaput and Zosky. Hardly any commercials, just the classics I grew up on. When that was out, I hardly watched the mainstream channel outside stuff like Ned's Declassified.
Nicktoons Network still had a lot of what made Nicktoons great, but it started looking too much like modern Nickelodeon by 2006. The older Nick shows were airing a lot less (and very late into the evening) and you started getting the reject shows from mainstream Nick that were made well into the 2000's. Just wasn't quite the same. What you seee now on so-called "Nicktoons" is just a symptom of them selling out and forgetting about their older fans.
Frankly, if there were a station or a subsciption service that was exactly like 90's Nickelodeon or circa 2004 Nicktoons TV, my late 20's ass would pay to have that available to watch anytime. I get why Nickelodeon tried "modernizing" Nicktoons (Network) to make it more profitable, but there was still a lot of potential in embracing the old stuff. You know, what made Nickelodeon the great station it was.
