Robbert You know, I know my opinion about this is really weird, but I would say right now. 2010-2012 was full of Skrillex and Excision wannabes with nothing but screechy sounds and no melody to it. Sure there was melodic stuff like this tune, but that was really hidden. Now the festival dubstep fad has come and gone, the people who still make it are those who actually care about the genre and making beautiful music. Just this year we've had stuff like Fortress by Illenium and Seven Lions' new remix of Beautiful. Amazing tunes for the sake of melody and music.
And I'd also wanna add, there was an underground dubstep scene before 2010 which was equally focused on melody and not deafening noises. Guys like Phaeleh and Mt. Eden in 2008 and earlier. Most dubstep "purists" really laugh at people who say the dubstep craze of 2010 was the genre at its peak... but it's all just opinions in the end.
More like 2009-2012. I don't know. Dubstep has been around since 1998 when it evolved from UK Techno music. But Dubstep was pretty much dead until about 2009

Seven lions does not get enough respect for his productions. EVERY SINGLE SONG he makes is so beautifully intricate, so well crafted and executed. He consistently proves time and time again that he has some of the best, and most complex productions out there right now and still remains, in most senses of the word, underground. I hope more people will listen to this guy, namely musicians, and walk away in awe like I tend to do myself.

This is one of the greatest Dubstep remixes I have ever heard, and also my introduction to Seven Lions! Everything about this is a masterpiece!
