+GUWOP The R8 is so dull, it couldn't cut a wake in a bucket of piss!!! That's why it is never mentioned in the line up of "great cars", and can be had for less than a fucking Cayman!! The only people that ever bring it up......are fanboys, but never by people who have driven anything else. Like a 458, GT2, GT3, 570s,AMG GT-S, GT-R,..etc....etc... There's a reason they're always in the background, and never in the foreground!

This became my dream car since its release. I fell in love with it. Its just perfect. The looks, performance, customization options, technology, engine sound and everything. There is no downside for me, its just perfect. Wish i can buy one in the following years. Enjoy riding it mate, what a beauty..

John Steel altough I dont think carvloggers buy them the same way 'rich' people buy them. To rich people they are accesoires, to paul and other carvloggers these cars are there means of income.. they need it to continue making money

I've been watching Paul since he had his Astra, love this kid - he may not know the ins and outs of whats going on under the hood as well as some, but if you really check it most Auto Journalist don't either, bar James May !! Paul knows his cars tho which model is which etc.

If you tune the engine, shouldn't it cancell the warranty assuming that you changed the original configuration of the engine?
jr nascimento as he said in previous videos, and some have commented, both renntech and brabus are the only tuners which dont void the warranty given by Mercedes, considering they are Mercedes only tuners if im not mistaken

How can it be in warranty with all the Rentech stuff on it?
Mercedes can see it has or had a tune (should you remove tune before going to garage).
some tuners are accepted by the manufactures e.g. VW and ABT :)

If you don´t believe me, look it up, simple as that, no discussuion needed. Some Tuners and Manufactures have contracts. Best example is AMG, they started their life as a independed backdoor tuner, now it is the house tuner of MB. You need more examples like that or do you believe me now ?;)

Quick question around Mercedes Warranty. Since you went to Renntech and they modified the mapping (don't think the down pipe would change a thing regarding warranty) do you really think Mercedes is still going to provide warranty to the car? I am from Belgium I have a Mercedes too (more modest one), they told me if I was to remap the car (for a 50HP gain which is not much) it's OK for them (legally that's another thing: insurance company & taxes wise) but should something happen to the car for which Mercedes would have to intervene, they told me they will end up discovering the remap and being linked or not to the encountered issue with the car, Mercedes is no longer going to take the warranty in charge. How is it in UK ?
oh forgot to ask you've that motor tuned among other modifications? would that not void the manufacturers warranty?

What I love about Paul and his running costs videos is he give a straight answer on how much it costs and doesn't dodge around telling a lie

The reason for the Lamborghini being cheaper to insure is because the lambo is a more exotic car and insurers know that exotics are not used as regularly and there is less chance of an accident.

Id like you to next, de-red the inside, sadly it would of been one of the options I wouldn't of chosen new.
I don't think the wrap and engine upgrade will make it worth more. Usually any modifications decrease the value because people don't know what problems they will have with it later and pay less upfront.
and the dealership of mercedes wont be happy to work on some issues witch are modified and you lost your warranty with modding..

In the age of computer controlled diagnostic equipment, emissions control devices and ever increasingly complicated vehicle electrical systems; modern vehicle performance tuning has become just as complicated.
Who do you trust? Where do you go for service? What will happen to my new car factory warranty once I install aftermarket parts? Ask these questions or search on the internet regarding this issue and you are sure to get a slew of conflicting answers and misinformation.
Answers to these questions certainly are not written in stone but there are certain things most consumers are unaware of which only helps to feed the frenzy and confusion regarding aftermarket parts and service.
One fact that many consumers are unaware of is a United States federal law enacted in 1975 which governs warranties on consumer products (including automobiles) called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637). In very brief summary, the law protects consumers with warranties written in an easily understood language and ensures warrantors cannot require that only branded parts be used with the product in order to retain the warranty (e.g. aftermarket parts on a vehicle). Basically, a warranty claim cannot be denied on your vehicle simply because of aftermarket or performance parts.
This means that when you decide to install an exhaust or lowering kit on your car and the engine fails, they cannot deny a warranty claim based solely on the fact that the vehicle was not stock. While an after market exhaust may void the warranty on the factory exhaust, it won’t deny you coverage on other components on the vehicle.
While the law is designed to protect consumers it is not a guarantee that a manufacture cannot deny your warranty. A manufacturer can still deny a claim if they deem that the aftermarket component installed caused the problem. This is why selecting a reputable company with quality parts that you can trust to install and service your vehicle should also play an important factor in your tuning decision.

morgan clark i have a c63 with mods and my warrantee is still valid. my dealership said it doesnt matter what mod i put on it as long as it doesnt affect or weaken the engine or moving parts

You have video proof of the cars condition prior to the wrap, don't worry about that part. Stay away from the body kits, you're 100% correct, they only chop the value in half.......unless you find the single buyer out there with both the money and the interest in that particular kit to buy your car, which never happens. Smart boy, you're on the right line of thinking, good on ya'!

When you started talking insurance costs I was surprised how cheap it was. When I was 17 I was getting quotes of 4k on a S Reg corsa! haha

Paul, something you guys never seem to talk about is the normal servicing costs. Who does your servicing and what is the cost of the normal servicing...? Do you get the oil changed every 3000 or 5000 miles...?
A mate of mine owns an AMG GT and pays around £80 a month for a two-year plan through Mercedes.
I'm not sure on the mileage intervals but he does the services on a yearly basis or whenever he gets to the mileage threshold.
That covers a minor and a major service over the two years. If you pay for them as and when I think the minor service is about £500 and the major service is about £1300.
Fun fact, they gave him a diesel A-Class as a courtesy car first time round.

Maybe you could answer the following for me. If you were going to tour around the UK and Europe, for approx 12 months full-time, would you do it in the Merc GTS? (Two people and gear in the car)
Why not put a kit on the M3? Being such a practical daily as apposed to the AMG GT-S, it should still retain enough livability to not be rendered useless?
That's crazy... someone specced this car up big time and spent £127k new on it... then sold it to Paul 6 months later! Wow, some people get bored quick nowadays...

Fantastic car! What amazes me above all is not the performance but fuel economy! 20 mpg equals around 12 L/100 km which is still a little better than my 256 HP C300 with NA 3.0 L V6 and a Kleemann ecu tune :) All the best in 2017.!

I love the fact he says... I couldn't spend £30,000 on a body kit, id much rather put it into property, but then proceeds to spend £127,000 on a merc and around £40,000 for an M3. Yeh i know the cars are financed so he hasn't technically spend that yet but still, think what both them cars cost in finance a month, put that monthly cost toward a mortgage and you've got one sweet ass house.

lovely motor. I think though our cars fall behind the yanks in only one area. they way these amazing engines are hid within plastic on our motors where the yanks are very into seeing the mechanics of the engine while just setting of the engine bay with chrome, aluminium, beautifully polished and/or valve covers etc. plus the lovely chrome plated air intakes etc. now at saying that it would never be a good enough reason to buy American lol plus I must confess I know little about America modern builds. I may be talking of a quality that is more of a classic mint factory standard or rebuild.

Pirelli more for Ferrari and Lamborghini and McLaren I think the Michelin maybe lasts longer
is the Michelin more of a daily tyre than the P Zeros then? i had a CLS350 a while back and that came with P Zeros
The Pilots are the best, and stickiest tires that money can buy right now. The P Zeros are great tires as well, but Pilots are better. That is why all the heavy hitting supercars have them on!
