    An Architectural technologist plays a critical role in a project team as it is their expertise that converts the ideas that architects and engineers have into comprehensive structures. George Brown College offers two different program options in architectural technology. The Architectural Technology Program T109, is a 3-year program and the Architectural Technician Program T132 is a 2-year program.
    For more information on both of these programs, check out:

      The office for International Students (www.georgebrown.ca/international/) would be best to answer the particulars of this questions. Having said that, I can also tell you that the School of Architectural Studies does have many students who have completed previous courses/programs in other countries.

    can an architectural technician also design buildings like an architect too?

      In the province of Ontario, only those individuals licensed by the Ontario Association of Architects can use the professional title of "Architect" and practice as an Architect. An architectural technician will normally work under an architect however, if they complete their Ontario Building Code examinations, they are able to design houses up to 600 square meters and not more than 3 stories. They would not be able to do any buildings larger than 600 square meters or of a different use than house.

      I don’t have any background related to architecture. I have BFA degrees and can use some graphic program. Is is so hard for an international student like me to get a full time job in this filed with 2yr college experience + co-op or few months volunteer? It’s so hard to choose major in college bc of job markets in Canada. Thank you

    Is it possible to become an architect with the architect technology program?

    • @georgebrowncollege
      @georgebrowncollege  5 лет назад +4

      You can inquire with the Ontario Assoc. of Architects (www.oaa.on.ca/) as they govern the process for becoming a licensed architect and can best advise on the current processes and policies. Also you can bridge from an architectural technology diploma program into a bachelor of architecture program at a university, but after that you will still effectively have to complete a masters in architecture before you can pursue a licence and practice anywhere.

      Hi Cuong, Architectural Technician graduates may qualify to transfer with advanced standing into the third year of the Architectural Technology program (T109) www.georgebrown.ca/programs/architectural-technology-program-t109/. There is also an opportunity for graduates of the Architectural Technology program to be eligible for advanced standing in the Honours Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) degree program (www.georgebrown.ca/programs/honours-bachelor-of-technology-construction-management-t312/).
