Awesome video! Wish I had something similar to this growing up. Can't tell you how many times I asked my dad how I would know if something is a bite when fishing a new lure. Watching your line is probably the most important tip on here. Especially fishing a jig or a flipping bait. I always have slack line when fishing these lures so watching my line is how I catch most of my fish on those lures. Also I won my first club tournament with a 4lb 12oz in late March because I was watching my line. Had slack and saw my line taking off to the right. Reeled in the slack and set the hook. Caught my only fish that day and it was good enough to win.
Quite a while ago I had a brown trout cleaning off my hook crawlered up. I was using Berkeley Chromatic line, so I silhouetted it against a dark background from where I stood. Then I watched as the line moved - and Hooked em’! Could not have done that by feel alone.
Yes!, it comes with practice. The one that still fools me, is when I may hook an under water branch, and pull a bow in the branch, and when the bow straightens out, it feels like a fish pulling (darn stick fish).
I love the left handed baitcaster! Tequila sunrise!!!!!!! My jam! A lot of times I just get lucky. Either I am looking for a specific type of bite, lots of swings and misses....
I'm slowly getting use to this left deal. This ain't baseball, you get all the swings you want...take advantage of it! When we swinging the ice sticks?

Yes, watching the line on weightless stick baits is huge. Difference between a gut hooked fish or a fish hooked in the lip! Appreciate you watching my man!
The other weekend I fished a ned rig the first time and I had look like a fool trying set the hook so many times with no fish. I was fishing it too fast and the moss kept feeling like bites. But my coworker made me feel better by saying hooksets are free! Great video Mr. Debo!
Once again another great video I learned a lot just bought a bunch of lures to practice with to get good with before hitting the ponds thanks and I will continue to watch your videos
As the @MasterSwimBaiter it is obvious what I throw most often....that being said, top water is also my favorite hookup…..I wish we were in the same state, too many similarities brother. Great vid as usual. Hope the weather warms for you soon.
Heck yea. The big swim/glide baits are something I want to focus on this year. Would love to go out fishing with ya man. Topwater is just too much fun!
I like soft plastic swimbaits a lot. I can definitely do some videos on those next spring. That's a great time to toss them. I'm going to try this larger swim/glide bait thing this year 🤨 Thanks for watching man!
@@DEBOSFishing I ordered the Miyagi packs after watching a couple of your videos using them. It has become my go-to swimbait. And that Gilly bluegill? pffft. Seems the bass got the memo on that one. Never had even an offer on it. Not one bump.

Yea he always kicked my butt with that dang power worm. I honestly don't ever throw weightless soft plastics like that. Really just the stick bait and fluke. Thanks for watching man!

Hey Debo, I'm a big fan of your channel. Love your energy and your content!! I've been following for 2-3 months now. You were a big factor in me deciding to buy the kastking stealth, and later the assassin. Plus the perigee II lol. Just wanted to show some love and tell you keep up the hard work and I'll keep watching. P.S digging the beard. - Fellow bearded angler
I fish a lot of soft plastics and jigs mostly. What I can't stand is a subtle bite where you stop and wait to see your line move or feel something else then when you do and you set the hook the fish is gut hooked.
Yea, that's hard when you're fishing something like a weightless stick bait. I switched to a bright braid with a leader and it was a lot easier for me to like watch on my spinning setups. Thanks for watching!
I’ve been looking for this information. I grew up and still fish walleye. I know their bite and how it feels. I’m trying to learn the feel of the subtle bass bites.great content and thank you for the details of tackle, line, rod and reel at the end.
Great video! Showed it to my kids, hoping to see some improvement in our fishing success! Growing up topwater was always easy to figure out, the rest are trickier. Hope this will help them be more persistent in trying to unbox the mystery of it all.
Some of my shakeyhead bites are immediately hooked, before you have time to tell they bit it, and just strong pulling. Thanks to light wire hooks, braid and a ML rated rod with a nice bend. That's how a lot of the bites I get, are. They hook themselves for me.
caught my first fish it was about 3lbs i wont remember that day it ways like a week ago thank you it was a large mouth bass i am 10 and it could fight! but a fisher man told me about something i didnt now a drag and this helped to
Just curious: when you watch your line for the subtle bites, WHERE do you prefer to look? At the entry point to the water, somewhere half-way up, or at the rod tip?
I always watch as close to the water as possible. If it's laying on top, I watch there. If it's down into the water, I watch the slack where it enters.
He's probably answering you now, but usually the line above the water. If your using light stuff, like weightless for bass, or where I learned, crappie, you have subtle bites that won't budge the rod, even a lighter action at times. Plus they have a bad tendency to hit when you have lifted and the lure I'd back falling on slack line, so you can see it jump, often before it even travels up and down into your rod.
Such a great video on many aspects. First off...Beard is awesome. 🧔🏻Second, I love the Nostalgia of the Power Worm. This was all great food for thought. Very simple but unique. I've never seen a video quite like this. I can't thank you enough for consistently making awesome fishing videos even in the dead of winter. Your editing is remarkable and your clips are perfectly executed into what you are conveying at the moment. And those topwater bites 😮😮

Great info Debo I’m guilty of missing more then a few myself cause I wasn’t watching my line on those kind of days. Happens to us all a time or two haha. Great video 👊🏻
I recently went smallmouth fishing and was using a curly tail texas rigged and what I felt was it seemed like my bait was dragging on bottom and the bite was soo subtle.
Hey, Great video, ive always struggled when recognizing a bite in cover but in this video you really helped my understand how to tell if its a bite or just another branch lol
Do you have any videos on how to properly reel in a fish once you set the hook? I could just be failing to set my hooks correctly but I often find myself losing fish halfway through reeling it in. Maybe I’m not keeping enough tension on my line or allowing slack? Send help

Logan Penny it worked but I looked very stupid
Your dad turned you into a genius!!! Thanks for sharing!
Hahah I know enough to be dangerous man. I'm just glad my vids can help others out! Thanks for watching 👊
Love ur stuff brotha and u can never be too experienced to go back to basics!!!👍👍👊
I completely agree man. Can never have a strong enough foundation! Thanks for watching 👊
I just watched a bunch of your videos back to back man, subscribed! I loved the end of this one, top water kicks A. Keep up the good work
Hey! You've become a #verifiedfeeshinfriend Thanks for watching my friend!
The other weekend I fished a ned rig the first time and I had look like a fool trying set the hook so many times with no fish. I was fishing it too fast and the moss kept feeling like bites. But my coworker made me feel better by saying hooksets are free! Great video Mr. Debo!
Your cold bro, you got me on the last one. Thought you were gonna leave me hanging & Wham! Top water strikes. 🎣😎🎣😎🎣😎🎣
Hahah I was hoping it would be a little surprise. Thanks for watching man!
Good stuff bro, thanks for sharing.👊👌✌
Awesome video always learn something new keep up the good work
Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed the vid!
@@DEBOSFishing welcome look forward to more videos
Once again another great video I learned a lot just bought a bunch of lures to practice with to get good with before hitting the ponds thanks and I will continue to watch your videos
Awesome! Glad the vid helped. Good luck at the ponds!
Ps on the other hand you won’t get that PB if you aren’t swinging when you think something might be there
Agreed 💯good sir!
Thanks Brother for the frame I’ll be placing my picture snuggly in it. Great honest info as always. Take care
D
Always appreciate the support man 👊👊👊
Debo thanks for this and all the other awesome videos you put on RUclips. I’ve learned so much. It’s really changed the way I think about fishing. 🍻
You're welcome my man! There is always something new to learn when it comes to fishing. I pick up stuff everytime I go out 👊
Damned well done sir! Mojo info. Gettin' too fast, yep that's me! Always enjoy the jazzy closing tunes.
Yes, frustration usually leads to lackluster efforts. It's a downward spiral. Appreciate you watching man!
I been looking for a video just like THIS! Thanks.
Awesome man, really hope this helps you out! Thanks for watching.
One thing that I struggle with is using swimbaits, especially soft plastic ones. Great video Debo!
Thank you for the advise. 👍 only been fishing for a few months now and watch your channel all the time. 🎣
Thanks man, appreciate you watching! Keep at it and enjoy the water. Have a good week 👊
Even though this video is a year ago it really helped me now I know all the different types of bites you can get and what the bites look like
Pop's sounds like my kinda Dad. Black 6 inch Berkely worm. I've caught bass on that set all over this Nation. I like no weight at all on a little spinning rod set up. Great video 👍. Keep on keeping on
Yea he always kicked my butt with that dang power worm. I honestly don't ever throw weightless soft plastics like that. Really just the stick bait and fluke. Thanks for watching man!
@@DEBOSFishing I been throwing those worms sine 91. Fo reel
Lost 3 lures today😭 gotta stay positive tho
Good for you bro, new favorite channel!
Excellent video... very thorough and helpful!
... and PS I love the closing song. 😃
thanks man this is going to help me a lot when am on the water i would always use a texas rig but wouldnt know when i would get bites but this video is going to help me a lot.
How do you not have more subs. Another kick butt vid with great content.
Need more shares
I'm not handsome enough to be famous. I'm a goofy dude from Iowa 😂
And thanks a lot for watching man!
No worries me and my son love your content. We both have ADHD and the way you explain everything is great and helps us out when we fish.
Exactly right! Great points man.
Thanks man. Appreciate you supporting my channel this long!👊
@@DEBOSFishing always man. You bring up stuff I would bring up whenever I start lol.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the great video.
Thanks for the tips great video man this is what I have problems determining
You're welcome! Good luck and tight lines!
Yep, that's the way those light finesse setups should be. Just reel into those fish. Great point man!
Hi nice video love your videos keep fishing and never stop
Thanks for watching man 👊
caught my first fish it was about 3lbs i wont remember that day it ways like a week ago thank you it was a large mouth bass i am 10 and it could fight! but a fisher man told me about something i didnt now a drag and this helped to
Learn something new every time I watch this video 👍
@@bassnazi4713 agreed good sir!
Your a great teacher Great video Thx
Thanks man, I appreciate that. Have a good week!
Fantastic video and information
Thank you very much for watching man!
When I started fishing artificials I hated it. Now it's all I use. I learned it by setting the hook on everything lmao
Gonna try this lol
Love this video ! Just showed it to my wife and kids !
My man! Supporting my channel from the beginning. Means a lot to me man. I need to do a tackle tour to show that old tackle box off hahahah. Appreciate and look forward to your comments man 👊👊👊
Amazing video, thanks all the way from Portugal 👍🙏🎣
Thank you for watching man 👊
Old man knew his stuff. Seems like you learned from a straight bass master lol
Thanks Debo, this helped me and the kids!
Nice video man keep up the good work
Thanks man, appreciate you watching. Gandalf still holding strong?
My old man told me the same as you debo, but he also said if you're unsure very gently pop rod tip. If you get a reaction it's usually a fish.
your a great teacher. learning so much from you.
Love your content man; I know i'm really late, but this video was very informative for a new fisherman, like me, lol. I look forward to seeing your future vids! Subbed.
Thank you I was looking for a video like this
You're welcome. The thanks goes all to you for watching!
You are Awesome Man! I love your videos!
Great info Debo I’m guilty of missing more then a few myself cause I wasn’t watching my line on those kind of days. Happens to us all a time or two haha. Great video 👊🏻
I hear ya man, just have to learn from it. Thanks for watching 👊
I recently went smallmouth fishing and was using a curly tail texas rigged and what I felt was it seemed like my bait was dragging on bottom and the bite was soo subtle.
Yep, some days it's like that. They just grab and go. Line watching is very important on those days! Tight lines man 👊
Hey, Great video, ive always struggled when recognizing a bite in cover but in this video you really helped my understand how to tell if its a bite or just another branch lol
Did a video like this 8 years ago, damn I am old haha. Great advise and info.
Hahah time flies! Appreciate you watching my friend 👊
I love the channel brother great stuff your good on camera
Great intro man sounds like you had a great Dad. I lost my dad at 6.
Good stuff man. Wish my dad was an angler i had to teach myself 100% just landed my PB at 9.4 lbs
Nice man, that's a fricking beast!
DEBO'S Fishing under a highway bridge in 4 ft of water haha
Berkley power worms are great. I don't know why I moved away from them. Need to get them going again.
Yea, I still fish them. The black grape have been my favorite along side the tequila sunrise! Thanks for watching!
Do you have any videos on how to properly reel in a fish once you set the hook? I could just be failing to set my hooks correctly but I often find myself losing fish halfway through reeling it in. Maybe I’m not keeping enough tension on my line or allowing slack? Send help
Very informative video buddy.
Heeyyyy! Thanks man, always appreciate you watching!
Well done, Debo.👍👊
Thank you sir, appreciate you watching!
dude i love this content keep it up
Well now I wished it was warm enough for frogging lol . Nice tips for beginners buddy 👊👍.
I was crying inside watching those blowups. Winter will be gone before we know it. Now I want to go frog fishing 😂🐸👊
