    The concept of "lesser evil" voting (LEV) can be seen as a form of the minimax strategy where voters, when faced with two or more candidates, choose the one they perceive as the least harmful or the "lesser evil." To do so, "voting should not be viewed as a form of personal self-expression or moral judgement directed in retaliation towards major party candidates who fail to reflect our values, or of a corrupt system designed to limit choices to those acceptable to corporate elites" rather as an opportunity to reduce harm or loss. - Norm Chomsky

    What would you say about Jehu as an example of a leader that was not perfect, and was ultimately not faithful to God, but who did do God's will by destroying the direct evil that Israel was facing at the time? It seems to me that faithful Israelites would have been right to get behind Jehu, even if he may not have met the standard in Exodus 18 perfectly. Or did Jehu meet the standard at first, but backpedaled later?

    • @theeternalsbeliever1779
      @theeternalsbeliever1779 2 месяца назад

      Faithful Israelites would not have backed Jehu. The northern kingdom of Israel was fully immersed in the idolatrous religion of Jeroboam I, including Jehu(2 Kin. 10:29). Jehu did not come anywhere close to meeting the Exo. 18 standard. He was simply an instrument God used to fulfill the promise He made about wiping out Ahab's dynasty. He eventually used another lawless, ambitious individual to wipe out Jehu's dynasty.

    Excellent dialog! I can understand both views...but i still lean towards the lesser of two evil men. We only have two choices.

      Where did God say His people should knowingly choose the lesser of two evils? Paul expressly condemns this mindset in Romans 3:8:
      “And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.”

      There is a 3rd choice: God's side. Siding with the lesser of 2 evils is still supporting evil.

    David was given a choice of 3 judgements from the Lord to choose from after the sin of his census in 1 Chronicles 21. David chose the lesser of 3 judgements and 70000 died of pestilence in Israel on account of his sin. Trump and Harris are both judgements for the sins of America. I, like David, will vote for what i believe will be the more merciful of two judgements.

    Picking up listening today, the reason you don't believe the Civil War was just, is because you misunderstand WHY it's just, and it wasn't just BECAUSE they were ending slavery, it was just because it was against the South, who LITERALLY violently and aggressively attacked the North first. The war was about Slavery because the South made it that, but it was just because it was a response to war being declared by the South via their actions.
    That's why there is no correlation between the civil war being a just war and is not storming the capital.
    It's also not a jurisdiction issue, Mr. Pierce, it's just not.

  • @ICU-mw7su
    @ICU-mw7su 2 месяца назад

    The point is completely moot since the Civil War was not started over slavery, but because of the unjust tariffs being taxed upon the South to finance the North! Lincoln was against abolition when he voted against it in Congress! It was used as a strategy to gain numbers for the North's war effort!

  • @Duckie1982
    @Duckie1982 2 месяца назад +1

    The Abolitionist movement is well meaning and has the best of intentions much like the Temperance movement did over a hundred years ago but just like the Prohibition experiment failed so also the abolition of abortion would fail too because organized crime would get involved in providing abortion on demand and it would create gang violence much like Prohibition did

    No, the states did not have a constitutional right to secede, furthermore, the north did not "force them back in with arms," the south literally attacked a union fort with cannons, openly declaring war.
    I know he's from the South but I'm disappointed in Bradley (who is otherwise great) for buying into such a-historical reasoning.
    And then Joel, agreeing and preaching just nonsense about the civil war and Lincoln, man, I expect better of you brother.

    • @Psalm19-1
      @Psalm19-1 2 месяца назад +3

      The attack on Fort Sumter only occurred after the Union ran a blockade and invaded a sovereign state. Provoking South Carolina into firing upon the Northern ship was precisely the objective that Lincoln wanted, as his personal correspondence to Capt. Gustavus Fox reveals.
      By what right did the colonists secede? Constitutional right is an inarticulate way of stating it, I agree, but it is a legitimate right nonetheless.
      If you deny the natural right of secession (a right the founders exercised) then you condemn the very founding of this nation. Having sawn off the branch your claims rest upon, your assertion that the Union was exercising legitimate political power over the Southern states collapses into absurdity.

      He did it to to pander. He was a registered Democrat who contributed to both parties until the mid 2000s.
      The same reason why Biden helped advance the 1994 Crime Bill (correctly so), only to later (now) reverse course and be against law enforcement, against law and order, and be pro criminal.
      Politicians pander. The wet their thumb, stick it in the air to see what way the breeze is coming from, and make a decision on what will sway votes.
      Neither men care about you or me.

    • @theeternalsbeliever1779

      Overturning Roe doesn't mean Trump doesn't support abortion, especially when _he_ said just last yr that he's willing to compromise with Dems on the issue. God's law says that whoever doesn't _completely oppose_ abortion is supporting it as far as He's concerned. Constitutionally, leaving it up to individual states to decide is the right thing to do. However, it is still 100% unacceptable as far God's law is concerned. It's still supporting child murder.
