The pre-MOPF with OPF still has a decent, loud enough sound - but non-OPF is a whole different animal sound-wise. Had the opportunity to compare both and it’s drastic difference. The MOPF OPF has a terrible sound

I ll try to answer it simply but you ll find numerous articles talking about that topic and even RUclips videos. First of all, it s not what is the difference but what are the differences between both, cause there are multiple differences. Powersliding a car is quite easy and average driver can do especially on high power, front engine, long cars, heavy and high inertia like the M cars or a Mustang, especially if they have a limited slip rear diff. Rear engine and short cars like 911 require already a bit more skill but it is still easy. Powerslide is sliding a car after the apex of a turn using only the inertia caused by the beginning of the corner and the power of the car. Drift is sliding the car already before the apex and requires numerous skills and different techniques to do it and keep it drifting until reaching the apex and after the apex. Most of the time the drift is initiated either with foot brake, weight transfer technique, or hand brake and not power (unlike powerslide that explains why to find power in the term). There is also a notion of time, a drift can be kept all around a lap of a circuit for instance, a powerslide will stop as soon as the grip strength of the tires will be higher than the ability of the car to spin them.
