    I've had my mothers Alfa for a few years and never got it going... so Thank you for explaining... the book that comes with it is jargon to me, but this made it happen. Mom is 92 now and can't use the machine but she recalls lots of tales using it. She was a consummate seamstress and made all kinds of wedding dresses and clothes... even a whole canvas tent!!... And did it all on this machine.

    My Nanna left me this machine when she passed away, it's been in my cupboard since as I couldn't really find anything about it online. This video was helpful. Thank you.

    Love the color of this machine. I'm slightly jealous that you have shown so many great vintage machines, but it gives me a lot to consider when I'm visiting thrift stores and auctions. Thanks for sharing this!

    Thank you for sharing this video. I’ve just brought a reconditioned Alfa the same as your video. It’s a joy, and your video was really helpful.

    Very nice! Love the color and the base. Very few machines have as pleasing a sound, while operating, than a Singer 15 or clone.

    Great video! If compared to other Singer 15 clones which were numerous, how does Alfa 50 fare? Is it that robust and a tool ith high precision of stitches as it looks in the video? Were there any improvements in this version of Singer 15? Is there anything in ALFA 50 that stands out of other sewing machines of that epoch? Thank you very much!!!

    Hi, I have just been gifted an Alfa sew-tric A244202 it looks very similar to this one. I've been searching for a manual but I'm struggling. I'm wondering if you can help.

    • @CurioByBSpokeDesigns
      @CurioByBSpokeDesigns  Год назад

      check on some of the Facebook vintage sewing machine groups - many have files sections with copies of manuals to download. A singer 15 manual is basically the same. By the way Sewtric is the name of the motor manufacturer.

    The body shape looks like the 201Mk2 or in my case Singer 191j's. I have one of these in Black, need a motor for it.

    • @CurioByBSpokeDesigns
      @CurioByBSpokeDesigns  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, I think they followed Singer's lead in modernising what is basically a very old design.

      I tried to mount a singer motor and it looks like it wants a slightly bigger belt.. Hey have you ever used the old treadle belts to make custom smaller belts?@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns

    • @CurioByBSpokeDesigns

      @@davidanddavidstrading no, but I know that people have. Different sized belts are available online though.

      @@CurioByBSpokeDesignsmaybe I'll try!! Or maybe I will swap out a 191J on a treadle. I need to learn that too!

    Check out the Alfa badge. It has a border with 25 little circles. "So what!" you are thinking.
    Well, just that it's a Smith & Wesson company and its a stylised 25 shot revolver magazine. 😁

    I have one of these model 50 machines. However, the foot pedal is broken. Is it easy to pick up a replacement, or are they interchangeable with other alfa/singer foot pedals? Thanks

    • @CurioByBSpokeDesigns
      @CurioByBSpokeDesigns  Год назад +1

      Not easy, but not impossible. You could replace the pedal and motor with one from a Singer.

    The manual for my Singer 15J90 Centennial (made in St. John's, Canada 1951) states that the bobbin is inserted as to make the bobbin spin counter-clockwise/anti-clockwise. 🤔

    • @CurioByBSpokeDesigns
      @CurioByBSpokeDesigns  4 года назад

      Hi. If you check out my video on the Singer 15, you'll see that over time Singer changed the 15 bobbin mechanism. Some had the finger on the bobbin case pointing to 11 o'clock and some pointing to 1 o'clock. This meant that the bobbins were inserted a different way in each. It also meant that the needle was the other way round - and threaded the opposite way.

    Hi, Ive just been given an Alfa Ballerina Muti stitch thats been in the family for a long time & has seen better days but it's cleaning up nicely. Will the Singer 15 and the instructions on here apply much the same. I'm looking forward to getting it going, this on here is very useful Thanks Deb
