    I mean Andrew webster in his 1st season has made top 4. Craig fitzgibbion made top 2 in his 1st season, last the cows went from bottom 4 to top 4 last season, even cleary went from 10th in 2019 to grand final in 2020 so clubs can turn it around quickly but things like a good pre season, coaching staff, recruitment that's huge as well now im not saying bulldogs are not guaranteed to do that but if you get all those things right things will turn pretty quickly

      @anthonybotonis5841 10 месяцев назад +1

      Totally agree. I saw the passion and heart under Dean pay and under mick potter. All this talk about taking time is bullshit. If your coaching style is to burn the players out then your gonna lose the players respect. It's always the young cop that tries to throw his power around. But the experienced older cop keeps his cool and is flexible. Same with coaches. Make the players want to play for you. Be firm to get the respect but be flexible when required then they will unite and want to win for you. In all fairness no one really knows what goes on behind closed doors but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out they don't want to play for you. And that is figured out by how we defend.... we just don't defend

    Saying that the coach doesn't have the right players is a massive cop out, webster 1st year head coach with a team that was 2nd last in 2022 and really didn't have any say of who was coming to his team, no big signing players, he just believed in the players he was given and bought out the best in them. Its human nature to want to do your best when others believe in you, I think Ciraldo needs to start there, believe in your players.

      warriors have a 250 game legend in the halves and one of the best most experienced packs in the comp its really chalk n cheese between the 2 rosters in terms of nrl experiance especially in the spine and the forward pack so you cant really compare the two. you can compare this bulldog side to the broncos a couple years ago

  • @shimmeister1062

    The Bulldogs desperately need a playmaker. Burton is the main problem. When he was at Penrith he was scoring a lot of tries. In that backline I could have almost scored the same amount of tries. But Burton wanted to be the main man. He is not a creative player - he is a finisher. Most sets the Bulldogs avoid using him, he gets the ball on the fifth and roosts it pointlessly down the field. No thought process just a big bot. He should be playing NFL as a punter.

    This should be done in most clubs at the moment. Bulldogs are not the only club to come under scrutiny. Back in the day when bulldogs and even manly were raining strong, the players were not in it for the money because compared to today there was no money. Money changes everything. Players getting paid top dollar and doing nothing for it. It’s a far cry from the 70’s and 80’s. Back in them times the players were half the size of the players today and lasted a lot longer on the field than these big muscle players of today. Todays players are either lazy, injured, suspended or their contract is being torn up for off field behaviour. Always some crap going down. I have never known an error where the players performances cost a coach their job so much. Perfectly good coaches getting shown the door because the player won’t have a dig.

    Burton, The Fox, Kikao, Mahoney, Averillo and Josh Reynolds and they finish 15th with the worst for and against in the comp by far. One of the worst underperforming rosters in the history of NRL. They need stronger forwards, a good captain and coach, some serious strategy reform and a massive improvement defensively. They need to put their heart into the game, not just show up each week for the pay check. They'll get Cricton next year who is an absolute beast. But it is so sad seeing such talent performing so terrible. I could coach the team better than anyone who has been there in the last 5 years, im sure 80% of NRL fans could.

    Madge showed at Souths with the right environment you thrive but then at the Tigers nat. In hindsight flogging the players didnt have any effect as he hadnt connected with the group properly. He walked in expecting the respect immediately. The biggest mistake you can make as a coach is going flatout then looking behind you and noone is there. Connection is key when you're down the bottom... you need to be engaging these guys and interested in them. Thats where the Barretts.. Mcguires coaching career went south - they didnt have the mindset of starting from zero. As in they're the dumbest person in the building (even the worst player has more information than you do before you start). If you really understand the winning culture you'll understand that you're job is to take pressure off players. Has Ciraldo in one interview said its fault? Does he have a big enough persona to take the hits for the players? If the theme in pressers are the players arent good enough.. hey guess what, they're going to start not caring about your club. Gus telling everyone hes a top coach before he started, now Ciraldo would find this a bit humiliating that things are clicking and thats where it gets very challenging. Barrett found it too much.. Griffin.. even Ivan Cleary. Perhaps not being there on game day is his way of not putting pressure on Ciraldo but that already says something about the relationship.

All the behind the scenes politics aside, on a match day their best players this year have all been the ones not on big contracts etc. If they point the finger and ditch Ciraldo, they’ll have the same issues next year without doubt as soon as a few results don’t go their way.

      He is very much in the Bennett mold of being a man manager / players coach who like Slater with QL leaves no leave unturned in preparation etc.
      There is only one player who has got worse under Webster (Vailea who is off to Cows).The rest including those in reserve grade are playing their best footie for years if not of their careers which is down to the head coach.

    You cannot buy club culture you can only breed it. Scrap the cap because this is what you get. Those that left Penrith to go to the Dogs did it because of the cap. We see this all the time. It isn’t Penriths fault they raised so many good players. That is what the ARL want! Breed them in your own back yard, foster your local area, then what…you need to cull because you have done what we ask! How utterly stupid. If it creates dominance then fine. A message to the other clubs - Do better and adapt or die. Get better with juniors and talent.

    I dont blame the coach for taking a stand against players who arnt interested in turning atleast on time for training let alone winning games. Your getting paid be dollars, like everyother job you will get punished when you dont meet standards. Then theres the whinging mentality that this new generation is using to get out taking responsibility for their actions or blame someone else. As the saying goes cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen. You in a wins driven industry and without wins, your fans are going to critise you ( reed mahaney) and they have every right to do so cause without us fans your out of a job simple as that. Its not always the coaches fault and before you say well ceraldo isnt a good coach .... yes i agree but if you as a player see on game day differently to how the coach is teaching you and play it how you see it. But obviously your not a good player to begin with

    But its not the whole team doing poorly. Wadell, King and Kiraz have been playing with heart. I hoped for more synergy between Burton + Addo Carr this year. We need to send Addo to the same rehab as Ponga and Papanhouzen to get him back to 100%, coz atm he looks constantly injured and playing at 85, with the ability to hit 100 only sporadically like he did in origin game 3. Preston and Sexton are white and blue to the core too 💙 🤍
