I think this depends on the kite size a lot. But my feeling tells me the nexus flys earlier…

But why does this result come as a surprise at all? Even on Core site you can see that Nexus is a wave+ and GTS is a freestyle+ kites. Freestyle kites are more C shape like, and those have a bad low end. A bit of surprise here is that Nexus was better in unhook, but perhaps this was due to low wind. I don't ride unhooked, but perhaps Ben can elaborate more on what is "better" here.
as I understood, the 'wave' setting opens up the kite a litte more. Thus more freeride characteristics, like more depower, stronger lift and better lowend. Have not heard anyone talk about unhooked with regard to nexus. But they say, steering is very direct, even when depowered. Also, kiteloops give less 'jank' than the gts.
In my opinion it loops quicker and even safer than the gts. I don’t know why, but to me the slack of the nexus was more freestyle like than the slack of the gts. It comes earlier. I think the downside of the Nexus for freestyle is how fast it turns and goes into a loop.

Great video👏👏I have 6m XR8 and use it from 20 to 40 knots and I love it, but I think to switch to Nexus 3 for the lightwind 15-28knots. I can’t deside 8m or 9 m Nexus3🧐?I’m 55 kg.
The 8 m XR8 i fill it too slow for my taste and I not loop it confidente.
GTS6 feels heavy in light wind needs a lot of steering, i have a 12m GTS6 when it is light wind i prefer to use the 10m XR7. Within its proper wind range the 12m behaves like a 9m reponsive and forgiving it is always where i want it to be

Nice video ! I’m riding gts since a long time now and I’ll change my quiver for this: 7m (Gts or Nexus ?) 9 GTS and 12 nexus ! What do you think ? I m 82 kg and riding mostly old school hooked and love KL when loads of wind !

Ich möchte z.B. einen 9er und 12 XR6 gegen Nexus3 ersetzen und als ich mal Nexus3 gefahren bin hatten diese immer etwas weniger Power.
Daher überlege ich je eine Grösse höher zu gehen z.B. 10er und 13.5er. Oder würdest empfehlen die Range gleich zu behalten? 🤔

Good to see your video. What would you recommend, I am 60kg I already have a 9m XR and thinking about Nexus 12 m or 13.5m. I am located in Cancun with winds that goes from 8 to 22knots. Which size would you suggest 12m or 13.5m for my case? I want it for low wind season (summer)

There are tons of sand/shovel nose sharks in sharks bay😊 if you walk slowly in the shallows you can get close to them before they spook

Komme vom 12er XR als größten kite und benötige etwas mehr Druck.
Habe jetzt insgesamt von XR auf Nexus gewechselt (8 und 10 bis jetzt) und überlege jetzt den 15er oder 13,5er Nexus zu nehmen, oder halt den 13,5er XR .. 15er Nexus gefällt mir gut, habe aber sorge zu schnell überpowered zu sein. 95 kg Fusion 5 139.

Hi Ben, Any news about the new Core GTS release date? XR model has been renewed relatively fast whereas GTS6 was released in Nov 2020, more than 2 years ago! I can't wait for a GTS ExoTex2 version.

Hey Ben, nice video. I was wondering why you don't use the impact. Is there a big difference in pop and slack between 5 line c-kites and 4 line kites like the GTS and the Nexus?
The reason is because I‘m tall and heavy. The impact has a even higher lowend than the gts…

Do you think it's easier to progress in freestyle on a open c kite or a pure c kite?
@@jackdehert1159 if you're not living in brasil and if you're spending most of your sessions in different (difficult) conditions you might progress faster on a open-c kite...
Hi Ben, revisiting this video after watching Steven Akkersdijk's video on shorter lines to have more explosive power. Do you ever do this for unhooked? What if this 15GTS was flown on 16m lines? (overall impression is that GTS will be out of the game since Nexus4 can do all of that and even more)
Hey, I tested different lines for unhooked as well but came to the result 24m workst best 🤘
Not surprised i ride xr and gts. My 11m xr has more lowend then the 13.5 gts. Gts is more fun in the highend then you can realy enjoy it

will u keep your gts nevertheless? and if yes what for? I mean, it seams like the nexus is just better at both - unhooked and hooked, more low end, more stable high end, so it replaces the gts as the better kite, or did I get something wrong?
Good question 🤔 I won‘t keep my gts but I still think the gts is the better kite in the high end.

Jetzt wäre noch mal der Vergleich zur 15qm LW GTS Version interessant. Die LW Version hat ja (außer des Namens GTS) wenig mit dem eigentlichen GTS gemeinsam...
Ich bin mit meinem 15qm LW GTS sehr zufrieden im low- end, habe aber keinen Vergleich mit dem Nexus 3. Ich bin gespannt ob Core mit einem Aluula kite in Kürze kommt für den LW Bereich.
Das wäre interessant, das stimmt. Die LWs vom nexus und gts sehen sehr ähnlich aus

the results make sense. GTS should have the worst lowend performance. Nexus has stronger freeride characteristics. If you change the trim towards wave, the lowend should be even better. I wonder if a Nexus 2 in 11m2 is enough for me as lightwind kite with 67kg. Got the GTS in 11. But to knots better in lowend, while still having a freestyle kite,
sounds very promising. WIll try out the Nexus

For travelling and any two-kite solution, the Nexus is probably the better choice for most riders.

Awesome comparison thank you! I got a 15m Nexus 3 this winter and absolutely love it! I normally ride the CORE XR but I find the Nexus 3 more enjoyable by not having the heavy pull all the time. Also finding the Nexus stays in the air better in light wind lulls compared to the XR. Still love the XR for the boosting and huge hang time but man you can still boost nicely with the nexus. Going use Nexus 3 for 12m to 15m conditions and keep the XR quiver for under 12m.
is the hangtime on the nexus that much worse than xr in freeride settings?

Same, my 13.5m XR is not a good lightwind kite. Need +18kn for it to fly decently. Need to demo a Nexus to feel the difference

Shark Bay, Although the name spells doom, beautiful Shark Bay in Langebaan got its name from it's numerous and harmless sand-sharks, not the greater and whiter variety.😎😎 Anyone spending time walking in the water, will most likely experience standing on one at some stage

@@BenBeholzVlogs Sadly there are far fewer sandsharks these days, perhaps because of the huge numbers of kiters that flock to Shark Bay these days. Back when I first kited there in 2010 you would step on them all the time, but the last few years each time I have been there I have not seen or felt one.

That Sharkbay in Langebaan is only good for beginners and the wind is shit generally.
To me the Nexus has this kinda gummy feel on the bar. Prefer the feel of GTS. But its not a bad kite, it loops quite similar to the GTS I would say.
Indeed, to me it doesen’t feel as direct as the gts.
