  • People keep asking me if you can use Distant Horizons in Multiplayer and the answer is... kind of? You can use it, but it won't load chunks in on its own. You have to visit each chunk in order for it to save the contents, and if somebody builds or changes the terrain well... you have to revisit lol

    Any edit made in the chunk will not be synced to the client until it your render distance and the servers render distance. Meaning someone could build something massive in a chunk you visited prior, and that build would not be seen until approached.

      The key would be to not set it to render too far then.
      I use a mod that does something similar, but I wonder if having Distant horizons instead would improve my performance with a 20 chunk render distance.

      @@jasdanvm3845If you have an nvidia grafix card you can use nvidium which let's you use real time chunks with big render distances while also improving your fps, so if you set it to only 32 you will see a big improvement

    We need a proper infinite render distance mod. It should work for both server and client by creating the rendering mesh in the server’s side and sending to the client, with regular updates when something is changed. That way you can have the server load chunks in a huge radius around each player, and the players would all see every chunk and all modifications to them without the server having to send the actual chunk data.

      you want the server to implode, explode, implode again and then create a black hole

      @ckanze4748 While that can be possible, it is not profitable for the most of multi-player servers.
      Only small servers that offers more in-game experience instead of being profitable will do that... in other words, only a few servers.

      Believe it or not, distant horizons has a server side mod. I haven't gotten a chance to test it but want to use it for my small vanilla+ server

    What mod or texture pack did you use for your hud?

    • @haha-ps7dk
      @haha-ps7dk Год назад

      it's actually a server with custom resource pack, tho it still needs a mod to have health bar and hunger bar(or in this case mana bar) to look like that

    Is there a mod to automatically move the character himself? So you let him cook for an hour and get back to your initial location with some stuffs rendered.
    Like chunky but that make you move

    What if there would be an chunk prediction for the survival server that would render chunks by seed

    • @reaIixx
      @reaIixx 2 месяца назад

      Thats literally what Distant Horizons does. It would have to be installed on the server though. And even then, the way Minecraft servers are coded, all of those loaded chunks would not be displayed to the client, even if both have DH

    Computer specs?
    Also, if you turn up your actual render distance, does that cause the pop-in to happen further away?

      in my 400+ modlist, with photon shaders, I get around 60-80fps with distant horizons on at 128 chunks. my specs are RX 6800 and Ryzen 7 5800x3d, 32gb of ram. distant horizons is extremely cpu intense so keep that in mind
