2:32 IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST PART OF THE PIECE THE WAY THAT LOW BRASS BOLSTERS YOUR TESTICLES AND MAKES YOU A REAL MAN IS AN EXPERIENCE FOUND IN FEW PIECES OF MUSIC.
I play Bass Clarinet, we did the runs with the regular clarinets, had saxophone, & Tuba parts. This was one of the most challenging pieces I’ve ever learned soooo far.
My band director was just like, "this piece is a grade six.. nobody else will be doing a grade six but I think we can do this.." now we're going to play it for mpa
I have played the 3rd clarinet part of this song in 2001. And our school played this song and won the first prize at the concert band competition held in Korea at the time.
Huh, this makes me curious. I kinda hate it to be honest. It's not a BORING piece but I guess I don't connect with it. It feels so scattered and emotionless. Give us this day and arabesque have been some of my favorite pieces ever. This one just doesn't mean anything to me. The part at the end is fun though :) Spot on username too
Omfg. I fking hate this piece of sht piece. ITS SO GODDAM HARD!!!!! Why the fk is it cut time?! And it has all these fking repetitive complex rhythms. I may only be a trombone player, but its hard as FK playing those patterns at that tempo. I FKING hate it... still sound awesome.
Trumpeter here... Won HS state competitions with this piece in 1992 ... woodwinds drive this song... and the brass brings the power...
I died while sight reading this
I'm sure I died harder
I died too lmao
Same
Our conductor killed us when we tried to sight read this
As a trombone player this piece was a challenge but, with substantial practice it has easily became one of my favorite pieces ever.
Im a freshman and i play trombone and got first chair for symphonic band and i play this peice and i love it, but it is very easy to get lost in
Played this piece on Eb clarinet for an all district Texas band back in 1994 I believe. Love this piece, great woodwind work.

To imagine I played this a YEAR ago. I appreciate your response. Brings back memories...
Lol. I'm playing it this year. I'm a trumpet, but I've figured out that low brass line by ear bc I love it so much xD
Fuckin' A! I played the trumpet!
Man, I wish I still played.... (In college now)

454 measures
Jesus Christ the horns at 6:53 I’m living
I play euphonium and that part at the end is great I could practice it for hours
Never got it down😔
Euphonium gang

so much fun on the trombone 😍
Played timpani on this for All-Northern. Pretty fun. If you stuck a mic up in my face, you'd hear me counting out loud.
Woodwinds @2:40 remind me so much of the 1812 Overture! That’s all i ever think about whenever my band plays this lol!
i have to play 6:12 on my clarinet for WV Honor Band and I just received it today and I love it but aight reading it was not fun. 😂
alison gates me too!!
i literally looked in the comments for this response so i could get a recording spot.
Me too! Good luck !! When I first saw it I was like "what the heck??" But after practicing it, it's not that bad
omg me too!! good luck guys 😂
@@hannahp3918 WELL HI THERE HANNAH
This is quite the piece!
I play bass clarinet and this is the first song where I didn't constantly play whole notes
LITERALLY
3:41 is absolutely beautiful
Definitely worth the time.
This was a fun piece to play
We actually sped through the ending. We played it slow and fast to see which one we liked better and we ended up playing it fast.
Loved this Piece!
We are playing this!!!
Does anybody know the ensemble that played in this recording?
I played xylophone on this
the last page for euphonium is a nightmare for the average player
wow.
The tempo at 3:37 is way too slow. It doesn't sound right
Yeah. If you want it that slow, the whole deal needs to be slowed down to allow for it.
It's written that way
@@garchompkills4530 Understandable, but so? Nothing anyone composes sounds the same to them as to everyone else.
5:48 Hold on.

+Nate Lawson (Mofegren) compared to all the other instrument, trombones have it quite easy in fact.
+Mason W Yeah that is true, but half of our trombones don't even practice so yeah.
Well that's not the composer's fault lol.
Well, I used to think it was hard AF, but now its Ez.
Lol okay then. Now look at the upper woodwind's part for this piece lmao
