Oh I grew up watching Alessandro Catalan on TRL on MTV Italia at 2pm Mon-Fri... amongst some of the greatest artists he interviewed I still recall Amy Winehouse who was chewing gum during her showcase on the show and I remember him asking her if she'd realised she had kept that gum in her mouth while singing and she replied 'oh I don't mind'

As Sabino said I think Alessandro's english is very good, especially if we consider the avarage level we have in Italy. Of course english is not his first language so he will make mistakes, for example when he said " I'm not starving for nutella, I'm starving for salami" I think he actually meant I don't crave nutella, I crave salami. I have no doubts he could have a successful career outside of Italy!

He Is known to be a huge inter Milan fan Also, he Is also a stable host on the biggest italiano radio (radio deejay)
He Is VERY famous in Italy. Personally i don t find him very endearing or funny as an interviewer but when he Is off screen he seems very nice. Just like Fallon. Same Dynamic.

Per me, se sei nato da genitori o nonno italiani (come è il caso dei conduttori) e parli la lingua, sei italiano abbastanza.

Se hai capito il mio commento è quello che anche Cattelan dice è che culturalmente essendo americani perché cresciuti in America, seppur parlando un italiano perfetto non ti rende italiano. Significa che non si sa cosa si prova crescendo tra i vicoli dei paesini, giocando a pallone per esempio, crescere nelle scuole o circondato da italiani è un’altra cosa. O vivere i drammi di un’Italiano, affrontando difficoltà economiche, precarietà lavorativa…Io in prima persona vivo in Inghilterra ma non mi sentirò mai inglese perché le mie radici sono radicate in Italia. Se ti senti Italiano abbastanza buon per te, ma non ti rende italiano. Però se ti senti italiano abbastanza rispetto il tuo pensiero… ti auguro un giorno di andare in Italia allora per sentirti davvero “italiano” 😉

La cosa fondamentale è la cultura nella quale cresci, pensare che serva “il sangue” per definire un’identità nazionale è un assetto mentale estremamente superficiale e ti dirò… anche un po’ razzista. Il commento a cui hai risposto è chiaro, ma tu non avendone capito il senso, hai voluto specificare due componenti al suo interno totalmente superflue alla discussione. Esempio banale: in questo video i conduttori ammettono di non conoscere l’Eurovision, e la prima cosa a cui lo accostano è “America’s Got Talent”… e lo confrontano come ascolti al Super Bowl. Questo per farti capire che la loro impostazione mentale è completamente americana, la cultura dalla quale proveniamo e nella quale cresciamo purtroppo o per fortuna è alla base di ciò che noi siamo come essere umani.
