Reboot into Recovery Mode (hold cmd+R until a loading bar appears), enter your user data and password, from the toolbar select Startup Security and make sure that booting from external media is allowed and that the security is at the lowest option (no security I think). Restart then and hold opt when booting to get the boot selector.

It depends on which processer/chip the MacBook has, and if you're not sure click the apple icon in the top of yout desktop, click about this mac, and check if it says "m1" anywhere. If it does, then you can do this sort of a thing, but you will need a paid external thing like Parallels for mac, which is not reliable if you are looking to download big apps, but works fast and well and is fine other than the pricey payments. But if your computer says "intel", meaning it is an intel-based mac, you can pretty much follow the steps in the video. Hopefully, this reply helped you!

@@RobertoJorgeTech for me, i had to go Registry Editor app, then HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control and find the PortableOperatingSystem key and change it to 0
If you have no space (or a little bit of space which is what I'm assuming you meant) on your MacBook, then you can't download Windows, since even putting it on the external drive requires you to first download it on the MacBook and then transfer it onto the external drive like on the video. You could try freeing up space you want, keep in mind that you probably need roughly 25 - 30 GB just to be safe, but try to do it above 20 also if you can't get to 25. If none of this is possible, I don't think there is another way to do it. Hopefully, this reply helped!

possible for macbook pro 2021?
It depends on which processer/chip the MacBook has, and if you're not sure click the apple icon in the top of yout desktop, click about this mac, and check if it says "m1" anywhere. If it does, then you can do this sort of a thing, but you will need a paid external thing like Parallels for mac, which is not reliable if you are looking to download big apps, but works fast and well and is fine other than the pricey payments. But if your computer says "intel", meaning it is an intel-based mac, you can pretty much follow the steps in the video. Hopefully, this reply helped you!
Good video ,but unfiunatly even getting Windows 10 on a external drive did not work.I looked in the bootcamp app and it just had the intrtnal bootcamp.I could not even get it to log back inro MAC.I will have to srick with Jeffs video it is a long winded way to do it thiugh.I tried it your way on two different drives.I am using a 2017 imac.Your videos are good i have watch them fot some years now.
Sorry that it did not work for you
Doesn't work anymore 🤕
Didn’t work. Even on a Fresh Mac OS and Bootcamp install on the internal primary disk on a iMac 2012 model. Don’t waste your time folks. It’s clickbait.
What format is the SSD?
Did you know that?
Os drivers do bootcamp, que são para W10, funcionam perfeitamente neste W11?
Bluetooth, audio, Wi-Fi...
Hey can i install kali linux my already installed windows external ssd ?
Perfect video! Thanks!
what is the format of the ssd when used for cloning shd it be exfat or apfs
Can I do the same with the arm macs
Yes 👍
After the setup, I cannot boot from external. I have cloned it successfully and also open permissions for booting from externally.
I had the same issue as well. I believe I have found the fix. I just posted my comment above with the steps!
Half-assed
Too much trouble
Muito obrigado Jorge!
👍 Obrigado eu
how do you get the bootcamp files installed to external drive
Does not appear in boot options. Something is missing with this tutorial.
EDIT:
It does not show in macOS boot settings but shows at boot pressing ALT.
Of course it goes BSOD.
DELETE THIS VIDEO!
why wont it let me expand the size of the external drive?
I am having this issue as well
Did you ever figure it out? I am having the same issue
for some reason it reboots like 6 times and then loads into windows, but it wants to somehow „repair(???)“ it? It says „your PC did not start correctly“
weird, but im not sure of what could be wrong
I guess you could try deleting and reinstalling using the video and see if it works then.
thank you Roberto perfect! i can boot from other macs to! impecável!
Will this work with Mac Monterey 12.1?
Yes
Noooo as won’t get passed windows boot screen
@@GrahamEdwards Actually it would, and I know because I just downloaded it with Monterey and it works, I think you're getting confused with the fact that Intel-based Macs can only run Windows using that app.
@@HarshalGaikwadcheekunikku not getting confused at all. It just wouldn’t work fir me. Followed it letter by letter. Ended up installing it on boot camp. On internal ssd.
The links to upgrade are not working can you help ? thansk
all is working
The moment you remove original bootcamp post cloning it on the ssd macrium there is no boot . Waste of time
Yea I gotta agree
i got an eror "bootcamp (c) has a NTFTS MFT Record size, that is smaller then the sector size of the drive"
Same thing here, any solutions yet?
No..
getting this error at the end , 'you cant install windows on a USB flash drive using setup
Follow all steps to achieve 👍
@@RobertoJorgeTech for me, i had to go Registry Editor app, then HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control and find the PortableOperatingSystem key and change it to 0
i tried this it blue screened every time
What if you have no space on your MacBook pls help me
If you have no space (or a little bit of space which is what I'm assuming you meant) on your MacBook, then you can't download Windows, since even putting it on the external drive requires you to first download it on the MacBook and then transfer it onto the external drive like on the video. You could try freeing up space you want, keep in mind that you probably need roughly 25 - 30 GB just to be safe, but try to do it above 20 also if you can't get to 25. If none of this is possible, I don't think there is another way to do it. Hopefully, this reply helped!
Thanks Roberto, easy to follow and no problems until the end ... after completing process the external ssd (FireCuda Tb) does not mount. Any suggestions? [2020 iMac27 Monterey]
Same issue....
Does this work for m1 Mac?
Nope, M1/M2 macs don't have bootcamp.
Can I also install on M1 Pro chip
M1 doesn't support Bootcamp

I think, I will express general opinion:) it’s not easy 😂

Is this possible on m1

I had the same issue as well. I believe I have found the fix. I just posted my comment above with the steps!
