Thanks for sharing this.
The music perfectly complements the visuals, creating a captivating and immersive experience. Each track is thoughtfully chosen, enhancing the story and bringing the video to life in a unique way that resonates deeply.
It is worth tying to find some video of Stephane Grappelli playing, just to see his face. Mr. Grappelli ALWAYS played with a sweet smile on his face. When you see his smile and listen to his playing you UNDERSTAND what an expression of PURE JOY and PURE LOVE his playing was and also why it touches people so deeply. It is impossible for me to listen to his playing and now smile from the deepest and best part of my soul.. It is sweet, and sad and beautiful music to love by.. The joy he felt and put into his playing is one of the many reasons why his playing will always be loved and the genius of his playing will transcend time. I feel sad for ANYONE who gives this a thumbs down... They must have a terribly sad life.. His genius is from a time that will never exist again, and we are so luck to be able to hear beautifully restored recordings like this with just a couple of clicks, and for free...

great comment rgrds
the thumbs down are fools too impatient to open themselves to receive this gift
Could not agree more!
"DITTO" lol I loved hearing and witching a recoding of him playing and I agree with you, watching him was a joy, every time I would hear on the radio that I just missed him playing in Detroit the day after lol I always wanted to go back in time and hear and watch Art Tatum play the piano. One of his contemporary's said of him as he walked into a club that there are musicians here but God just walked in the door. I love all kinds of music , past decades well not so much the music of today..2020 with youtube I can go back in time my time and before and find so much fabulous music . Be safe from Covid and Happy Holidays to you and yours in the coming months Nov 2020. Turning 75 yrs young 11/23 preparing my birthday music for the day;) or year lol;.
Sadly I never saw Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli play together. But I did see Stephane many times playing the student union bars in London the 1970's. THe first time I saw him live I could not believe just how good he and his band were. And he never stopped smiling,. All talk in the bar stopped and the 100 or so people inside just listened and smiled too. A beautiful man who played beautiful music.
I had the privilege of seeing Grappelli live in concert in Sydney (Australia) in the 1970's. He performed with such warmth and energy. Django Reinhardt plays with the same flair. A style that warms your heart, from a priceless era in music. RIP maestros.
So lucky u were
yeah i saw gary moore with Thin Lizzy at the Opera house 79..free concert..
He was certainly a treat to watch in concert. I saw him in the early 80's with Toots Thielemans in Seattle. What a wonderful set of performers. Such a memorable evening.
Can not get enough of Stephane Grappelli. Shame Django could not have been around longer.
Django Reinhardt....."disability?" .... just continues playing sublime guitar.....some people are just mind blowing in their 'force de nature'!
argue for your limitations and you will get them every time.
Wow I'm 71 yrs old, and was a rock and roll singer for years. Always loved this stuff.now as I'm older I love it more.
Django & Stéphane = perfect match
Sitting here misty eyed because this music is so great.
Don't remember to have listened to this version of "Runnin' Wild" ever before, but the first bars immediately reminded me of the movie "Some like it hot" with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and of course, Marilyn Monroe. The latter is singing this tune. Although I always rooted for the decent guy, played by Jack Lemmon, to get the girl, it never happened. But I digress...
It makes you wanting to have a time travel just to see these marvelous musicians alive and the atmosphere of the Cafe de Paris!
Absolutely.
Actually... " Hot club ( Of ) France " 🇫🇷 (( Hot Club du France))

Hmmm.. I DID NOT Text this. Others, yes. I am SERIOUSLY Beyond "Messed with" by eeu toobe or an "Agency "
Although this music is a little before my time, I so do appreciate it...what a contrast to the crap we have presented to us today! Long live great music!
I defy anybody to be miserable listening to these incredible musicians
Rob Lifely ,
Perfectly said!!
Best definition !!!
Except for the ads mid-song, perfection!
Who is better ? Both are the best …
e v e r !!!
70 degrees on my porch Christmas Eve 2021. Smoked a little. 🎶Listening to music 🎶watching my bird feeder and the squirrels 🐿. Life is good Merry Christmas 🎄 😎
I saw Grappelli play live in the early 1970s in the UK
In the event that a lifeform from an inconceivably distant galaxy finds this, I'd just like to confirm that this RUclips video does indeed contain the most wonderful music ever created on Planet earth.
Nick, this is scarcely credible. I am your cosmic reduplicant from Planet Zwong, and yet I read your post within three minutes. Synchronicity or what? BTW, 'Earth' should have had an upper case 'E'. Despite this linguistic lapse on your part, I agree entirely about your assessment of Django.
Love this ! Obviously this will be the *very first* piece of text that any alien or other being will read when they land ... and the *very first* piece of music that they will hear. Nothing else will compare :)
@Nick Jenkins ... see ! I just knew it - Planet Zwong has now got rhythm ;-)
Grappelli, sigh..... I actually got to hear him with Dave Grisman in a theater in Davenport, Iowa of all places (in 1982). It was wonderful. The thing that gives me wonder even now is realizing that he was already playing the violin a century ago and that he and Django formed their group ninety years ago!
Stephane Grappelli the violin with with Django Rhinehardt is a treasure to my ears. Who could ask for anything more! Sigh! 8/16, 2020. COVID 19...housebound.
Imagine this music, but faded a little as if it were in another room, and rain in the background. That sounds like a great evening.
Nope, I wanna see Django's shiny hair, Josef's silly smile, and smell Stephane's bow wax.
I don't have to imagine rain I live in ireland, we have an abundance of it
The sound Reinhardt made with only two fingers was not human. Grappelli was, with no doubt, the greatest jazz violonist of all times.
couldn't agree more, an incredible trio, brings tears to my eyes listening to these exceptional musicians
I'm sure he was from another more advanced planet. My idol for 48 years since finding an obscure album in a Boston discount store in 1970. I also feel that his liability is what made his melodic geneous possible. Using only two fingers, he could play in any direction from any note linearly, not in boxes like every other guitarist.
Saw Msq. Grapelli from 4th row in Madison, WI. Barbra K was next to me, in the Company of Angels.
Three (fingers) but still!
Of course you are right. But he used the other two for a rhythm effect.
I am going to watch the 2022 Tour d France on TV with the sound off and Bath in this so French music!!! Bonne chance mais amis!!
bass player is right up with those giants!!😎
I saw Grappelli play once, it was unforgettable!
Listening to Django Reinhardt is pure unadulterated “ear candy”. He was only in his early 40’s when he passed away, but thank God he left us a legacy of wonderful jazz sounds including this delightful album, “I Got Rhythm” which includes “The Sheik of Arabis”.
Mine as well. I'm a below average guitar player and for a laugh I looked up a trans ription for Djangos solo on the sheik of Araby. And it had written on the top. For intermediate players. Ha Ha@@purpleduck9843
My wife and I feel privileged to have attended an outdoor concert of Stephan Grappelli's at the Paul Mason Vineyards above San Jose sometime in the 80's, I think it was the 80's. We wanted to stay there all night but he just got to cold and couldn't take it anymore even though we had all moved all the space heaters around him while the rest of us froze. RIP Stephan, we still enjoy your music.
Wow, that must've been totally enthralling ! (But sadly cold)
Django lives on in the memory of music future
The Golden duet of great musicians!
VIOLIN FROM THE HEART !
That's great to see him live
Reinhardt + Grappelli = SUPERGROUP!
Facts
Django will always be alive & kicking these wonder ful jewels. Maybe I First heard his music en the screen watching old cartoons... I just can't recall when, I am 74 now and also kicking!
Django once said I can hear music in my head that I know is impossible to play on a guitar. That tells me he could play anything that is possible he hat complete command of his instrument
THESE GUYS WERE SOME OF THE ALL TIME BEST.
I had the great opportunity to see Grappelli at orchestra hall in Chicago. Such a great time. I had him sign program for my brother's Birthday. Would love to know where it's at. Peace and Love to all great giants of music that have past and to you the listeners
My Dad got to see Stephane Grappelli with David Grisman at the old Almaden Vineyards in San Jose, CA back in the 1980's. My Dad introduced my other 3 siblings and I to Django Reinhardt back when I was a kid. I always thought Reinhardt and Grappelli were fantastic musicians and very underrepresented in the music scene. Everyone I introduce to this music loves it!
Your dad sounds like a man of good taste, to introduce your children to jazz is really cool
Thank you Bioshock for introducing me to great music!
2 angels playing......................
We went out and had lunch at Don and Bob's on
Monroe Avenue-
Tom, Kiki,and I.
"Mark William is in love
with Stephane Grappelli.
He will not turn him off!!" Tom said.
-Mark Weintraub.
Thanks for this. This makes me think of a zither played with jazz syncopation. It reminded me of Anton Karas' _Third Man Theme._
this music was my childhood. i'm only 14 but my mom always listened to older music when i was younger and this was one of her favourites.
chief called, wanted me to tell you that you're still a child...
Well DamienExists you certainly must have a great mom (or mum as we say in Australia). The lady has taste. Your at the beginning
of a wonderful musical journey that will make up the soundtrack of your life. Your off to a great start!
God Bless You - you have music appreciation
good for you dude...music is the universal language.. check out Beethoven 7th second movement or Glen Gould playing the Goldberg variations!! good luck you lucky young man haha!
@@fossseseptique he made two recordings of the variations. The first when he was very young the second towards the end of his life. yk, he died hardly any older than django? He was 50.
This type of music was invented by Venuti and Laing, but Django and Stephane took it to its fruition...
yes but Eddie Lang was no Django...
Nice to hear, that you liked that
I've got Django Reinhardts
DJANGOLOGY album which my brother Steve gave me years ago.
It has jazz violin player
Stephane Grappelli on the fiddle
Some of the cuts on the album are like Djangology, which is the title cut, Bricktop, where the guitar clunk clunks,
and also I Saw Stars,
where Wm. Latimore's Jazz Band backs Django Reinhardt up.
-Mark Weintraub.
I had the chance to see Mr Stephane Grappelli play at Greenwich Theater London early 70', Class act, always with a smile
Good for the soul, smiles from beginning to end
Absolutely. Loads of 6s and 7s. Boss string bending.
This glorious incantation of infinity has no intimation of where you've been , merely all future destinations .
I love their music
I was lucky enough to see Stephane Grapelli perform twice - virtuoso both times
Working in the ABC TV studios a while ago, I watched from the control room and was awestruck. He was old by then and one of the kid engineers said 'By Jeez! For an old feller, he can play a bit!'
Oh, yes: he called what Grapelli was playing a 'fiddle'. Made me feel quite old even then.
Me too - One of the highlights of my life. At the Blue Note in NYC.
Me three at U of M
I hate you all...
Wonderful... really wonderful! Reinhardt & Grappelli, two magicians...
This music shows talent and timelessness.
I love these two musicians
Django was and Always will be the best there`s ever been.
Got to agree with you. He will always be relevant to guitarists he is to good to be forgotten
Brings me right back to the streets of Paris, listening to this music!
I haven't been to the streets of Paris, so going back doesn't apply, really.
Having said that, what a good idea to do that one day!
Ray Opezzo how old are you
Sheer perfection - Superb Django !!
THESE GUYS WERE VERY GOOD TOGETHER, ALMOST SOUND LIKE A JAM SESSION IN THE BACK ROOM OF SOME BAR IN LYON FRANCE BACK IN THE 50'S
THANKS F OR POSTING
What a lovely picture you painted. What a great time to be alive in Lyon France. Perfect. Thanks, I'm there.
This music is sweeter then the first kiss~
Never get bored of this. Masters at work. Pure inspiration.
Even more amazing and swing then when I heard Reinhardt and Grapelly for the first time in 1965
Creates a great atmosphere on a sunny day :)
I went with my dad to SGs 80th bday concert at the Albert Hall 1988. SG, George Shearing, Nils Pederson and ...... Julian Bream, playing jazz. I was 14 and it was AWESOME. I hope my keyboard player fingers are as dextrous as his at 80.
Anyone who give thumbs down for this magical music has no appreciation of genius!
Or an appreciation for music period.
Thanks! I used to listen to to this heavenly duo in Kyiv over the radio in the evenings, can’t do it anymore 😞
Django et Grappelli : 🙂
One of the greatest albums of all times!
Come nella loro tradizione bravissimi!!!!!!!!!!
doesen't get any better than this!!!
I never tire of this gorgeous music.
I wish I could have seen these guys just once... Fantastic musicians they were, this rhythm will always catch people, that's for sure!
This a common experience for generations and generations. Stephan & Django two of the greatest masters for violinists and guitarists.
I'v been always a lover of Stephan.
What a beautiful tone&rhythm, Marvellous.
I adore the violin in "Tea for Two"
REAL MUSIC IS AWESOME
Merveilleux musiciens même énergie
When Django plays those ridiculously fast solo's .whitch leave other guitarists scratching their heads ..he plays them so clean and fluidly you get the feeling he could step up a gear if he wanted to
And with only two fingers... genius
This music is so difficult to walk away from. Definitely not background music. It's front and center.
Delightful with
can you even imagine the type of person who would give this a thumbs down?
Roger Trozelle Better not imagine!
Doesn't bear thinking about - simply too too horror-making, old chap!
very easy ...dont even bother man to ask such a question
some hardcore memer i guess lol
What a sublime duo.
Love this album, dream music nice rendition, the best of vintage music
It is så long time agou, I'v heart Stephan Grapelli, thinking his life's history it was so sad, but, fine mucision we hav, remembering him.
spectacular find an hr and 15 min set of django
I saw grappelli in San Francisco of course he was probably 30 years older then these recordings he was the master and still today is unparalleled
Thanks for sharing this great music and such a great artist. RIP
Peabody, anyone? Sweet and sassy!! Thanks for these memories.
This music undoubtedly stimulated Hercule Poirot's little grey cells.
BuggieDreggs .I love that comment ! I love the music and I always enjoy Hercule Poirot.
Hercule was belgian
Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir frequented the Le Jazz Hot club in Paris where most of this wonderful music was recorded.
Definitely
@@manoul71 As was Django. And he was not a fictional character, as is/was the case with most famous Belgians, or either they’re mistaken for either being French or Dutch.
the healing power of music and dancing is nowdays re descovered by the science and by this another great era for music
even if you sitting your feet is all ready moving like spring dont lie. thank you for the upload
Don't want to commit sacrilege but is there zero doubt Django is in the pantheon pedestal with Louis Armstrong? How immense how they both became the music geniuses of the 20th century despite such immense childhood adversities.
