This was a surprise! I asked SkyCity's PR team if I could film inside the Convention Centre but was told it wasn't possible this day. But Julian wanted to take us in, so straight after the interview we were in hard hats going on a full tour with the new CEO too. I've been wanting to take you inside here for years so this felt quite special! Just had to ask the right person.

Great questions as usual Madison! You certainly picked up on some interesting cues and wide open statements. Great work.

Went to the casino a couple of months ago, first time in 15 years.
Couldn’t get out of there quick enough.
These guys have a miracle to perform!!!

Like it better if it was like Singapore - only visitors can gamble - last time I was there quite a while ago, most people looked like they shouldn’t be anywhere near a place like that……

I gamble when I play LOTTO. I don't support having casinos or 'One Arm Bandits' in NZ. As a personal choice, I have never been up the Sky Tower (never will) and will never go into a Casino.
But the 'side line' conference center is an fantastic asset for Auckland. I look forward to the opening night.
I just hope the engineers did a thorough check of those iron girders, for any affects, from the heat of the fire.
Once again Madison, a great interview. I can see you are well over your jet-lag. Looking forward to your next interview. Maybe the TVNZ CEO?

I remember the fire from your paper. I just can not believe it was 2019. Thanks and be safe.

Interesting to hear such open acknowledgement of issues with money laundering and casinos. Is NZ getting a better handle on money laundering?

Maddy babe, gaming is recession proof as it's addictive gambling, just like drugs, alcohol and tobacco. He just didn't want to admit that by stating it out loud. He dodged the question. You could see the warning lights in his expression.

See how he uses 'gaming' as a euphemism for gambling.

This guy even looks like a Las Vegas casino Mafia frontman.
