      I have the same sentiments as you. IMO, LHL values "YES" men/women more than capabilities. But most YES people are not capable in their work but in curry favor their boss. This is not what the people want. Money (which is not a small sum) should be paid to those who can contribute to the welfare of the country, not to any particular person. Not knowing LW much, if he is not along the same line as LHL, he will have difficulties to form his own "best" team as long as LHL still has influence over his choice. For that, I actually prefer that GRC should be abolished so that the people can help to retain the capable ones and kick out those who are YES ppl but not capable.

    One guy claims everything you see in SG is created by a party.
    This is flawed in numerous ways:
    1. A party is just a name. The OG no longer exist . It's the OG that made it happen. The subsequent team is not the OG team, they Inherit the success. So, the subsequent teams could not have done what they done without the OG setting the foundation. So if current team claims they are great, we need to discount this claim by factoring in the OG without whom the present team could never have done what they done and might not have existed.
    How was he able to make such bold claims? He can get away with it because English is pure Ambiguity in all sentences since it was invented. Language is Art is imagination is limited by your roti prata'ing. Every sentence they say has potential of being rebutted and even debunked.
    2. Without a Super Condoning population, the current team could not have existed. Many with some wisdom long knew there are flaws in most policies and that the team is not as good as they make us perceive. But out of Supporting, they condoned flaws and failures thought the decades since 70 years ago. Many who are well off certainly naturally are politically apathetic and just support the status quo. But this is mistaken as the team is so perfect and great. Without feedback of flaws and failures, the team could never have achieved.
    So, the claim that everything is due to them is flawed and foolish.
    3. Without the 40% voters who are tax payers, can the team have no problem funding their implementations?
    Every thing they claim credit has 40% contribution and enabling by the 40% tax payers. They 40% also gave them support by being law abiding and avoid protesting.

If these subsequent Prime Ministers and their cabinets were no good especially in more and more complicated and difficult global economic environment, you think Singapore new graduates can command such high starting salaries when after Mr LKY many more countries who were previously closed are all now opened with much bigger populations and cheaper labour cost? This includes China, India and many other African and ASEAN countries! And if subsequent leaders no good still so many people all over the world want to invest in Singapore and buy our properties here? There is a Chinese saying: start business difficult, to protect or preserve business is even more difficult! i really hate it was citizens do not value the efforts by subsequent government after Mr LKY. No government is perfect and the world is much more complicated now. Those in business should know. It does not help that technology gets obsolete so much faster than during Mr LKY's time.

Firstly, the people are only confident of the two main opposition and likely there could be a possibility of them winning on 15-20 seats. The PAP will still win 75 -80 seats. It is typical that there will always be a minority who will not vote for the ruling party in the hope that they will get another party in to better look after them by providing more welfarism. The western democracies have gone through this process to end up in huge debts and high taxes just to support their social security needs. Gradually they shift their priorities from defense, education and healthcare sacrificing all these sectors for more welfarism and ended up with a population of citizens heavily dependent on government. These governments in turn had to resort to high taxation to support these welfare programs.You will be surprise that the largest number of homeless people are found in Paris. Singaporeans must avoid these political trappings that will destroy what we have built and cause a collaspe in our social fabric. Phillippines was once the richest country in Asia but today they are sending out their citizens to be migrant workers in other countries .
    Singapore do not have any natural resources and cannot afford to go down this road. Our democratic system has matured and the PAP as well as all other political parties will have to contend with the fact that the days of wining elections with clear margins of 65% to 80% are over. All political parties will have to contend that you only need 51% to form government and hopefully, given these narrow margins, we will never end up with a coalition government that can only provide us with a "hung" parliament that will cripple our politicians from making the right policy decisions. I am sure Singaporeans , a majority of whom have invested in their homes , will vote wisely. So let's not get distracted by these nonsensical presentation trying to guide us up the wrong path. Remember your future is in your hands and your lives will be defined by the decisions you make

    PAP frequently highlights potential economic repercussions of voting for opposition parties, such as concerns about foreign investment, job losses, and the management of public funds. They argue that a change in government could disrupt Singapore's economic growth and stability. Not wanting opposition to even have equal seats in parliament! They have hold the similar fear tactics on voters , warns that a politically divided parliament could lead to inefficiency and gridlock, making it harder to pass important legislation. This narrative can instill a fear of a lack of progress in governance if opposition parties are given significant power. But forgetting citizens are equally disappointed and disgusted at PAP force policies that are disadvantages to citizens and Singapore being pushed out to them!

    • @yoyolexy
      @yoyolexy 3 дня назад +2

      @@Ken-g8p Which policies are disadvantageous to Singaporeans? A good government cannot always listen to the people because people by nature are greedy. Most people aspire to own a car so should the government keep car prices low to show that they are listening? What is going to happen to the roads if almost everyone can own a car? Many people want to withdraw all their cpf early. Does it mean that the government does not care about its people by insisting on the current policy? Who will the people look for when they have no money and can't work? I do feel that a change of government will have a significant impact on Singapore's economic progress and stability because none of the opposition parties are ready to take over. Even WP, the strongest opposition party has said it's not ready to take over

    • @Ken-g8p

      @ Housing Policies: The Housing providing affordable public housing claiming by HDB. However, people feel there are not enough flexible options for young couples, and many struggle with rising property prices, making homeownership difficult.
      Transport Policies: Public transport in Singapore has also been a source of frustration. People expressed concerns about rising fares, overcrowded buses and trains, and the need for improvements in service quality.
      Social Welfare: Although the government has programs to assist those in need, critics argue that these programs are not enough. Citizens needed more support for lower-income individuals and families.
      Political and Civil Liberties: The strict laws governing freedom of speech, assembly, and political opposition have attracted criticism. Many citizens and activists are calling for greater freedoms and a more open political environment.
      Talking about COE, people feel that the policies have not effectively addressed this problem, leading to frustration with their daily commutes. COE and ERP systems are not just about traffic management, but also serve as revenue generators for the government. The high fees associated with COEs and ERP charges create a perception that the government profits from citizens' needs to travel.
      You mentioned CPF, One of the main frustrations is that CPF savings cannot be fully withdrawn at retirement age. Instead, they are meant to provide a steady income for retirees through the CPF Life scheme, they should have the freedom to access their savings as they see fit, rather than being restricted to prevent potential misuse. Government never helps those in deep shit because of overspend at own actions! people prefer to have the autonomy to manage their finances and make decisions about their savings without government intervention.
      We are not a communist country and we don't obey rules by government that hold such logic. We have our rights and chosen this government in running the country, if there are things not right we as citizens have to sound out and vote in another!

There are no indicators of a structural shift on tbe ground. All major concerns continue to be addressed from Day 1 of the last GE right up to the upcoming GE 2025. The battle at every GE has always been to win over the middle 20% swing votes. In GE 2025, should the PAP capture 70% of the national votes, it'll be considered a solid mandate for the new PM Lawrence Wong. At 65++%, we could say it's a resounding support. 😂😂 Wishful thinking to topple ruling PAP who has done a brilliant job and will continues to do so. It is a monstrous and complex machine of world recognised efficiency and effectiveness that nobody or opposite party can managed and knows how to manage. Cheers.

    Singapore is on track to "matilah". That's been my thesis for years. Why? Because "We The People" have been far too busy chasing status and wealth, and not paying attention to the actions of the ruling political class. Getting the numbers of OPPOSITION up in the Parliament is a good start. It's not the only thing. Politics is DOWNSTREAM from culture. If better politics is a long-term goal, then the culture needs to change...and that means one individual at a time. Majulah or Matilah Singapura? Your choice. "The People Get The Government, and The Country They Deserve"

      a big thing to realise is in terms of the country the governement is not the Boss, We are cos we are the ones who put voted them in and we pay their salaries, the government are no different from the maids

    • @SiongBoonLim
      @SiongBoonLim 3 дня назад

      The problem is the rich pay the most. The rich owns the maid.
      Most are paid for by the rich, wealthy and successful people.
      The tax that most people paid, can' even cover the cost of the road we walked on.

    Sg people own nothing. Crazy HDB Bto prices blow the biggest inflation bubble in the world a lease agreement of 99 yrs without ownership causing rental for business to skyrocket. The Coe is insanity with mad transportation chgs u don't own your car only 10 yrs lease. Utilities chgs profit orientated. Gst 9%. These factors bring the cost of living ascending to astronomical levels yet claim to be the riches country in the world. Eye opening.

    60 years only? PAP party ruled Singapore 🇸🇬 since self rule in 1959 based on the history we studied in Vietnam🇻🇳, so is 65 years of dominance although with voting democratic system, impressive 😮

    Majority of SG people stay for PAP. The only worthy opposition party is WP. SG foes not need outsiders to talk about the nation future. WE ARE SINGAPOIRE!
