    A little backstory for new viewers------
    Zoey is a 3 year old lab pit mix with a broken back and pinched nerve leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. She gets around in a wheelchair and is still living her best life. Zoey wasn't born this way, I first adopted Zoey when she was 7 months old and she was perfectly normal and healthy. Unfortunately a few months after I adopted her our family home was broken into and she went missing along with her husky sister Coco Ellie. Zoey was found 2 months later dragging herself in a canyon, and Coco was never found. It's been over 2 years since the break in and these are a few of the things I've learned to do caring for a handicap dog like Zoey. There is a lack of resource on youtube for pet owners caring for special needs animals so I hope that this video may help someone out there. If you have any questions feel free to let us know in the comments.

    Wow, it’s amazing all you do for her! Most people would have her put down. I wouldn’t unless it was life or death. Thank you for giving her a good life!
    What a good mommy.

    She is beautiful! Having a disabled dog is tough. Our Rocky is 11 and he has diabetes and cushings disease. He needs insulin twice a day and he takes 6 pills a day and now he is blind from being a diabetic. It is not an easy task!

    Such an informative video, and you are such a good mommy to Zoey despite all the frustrations you go through sometimes. But yeah, when dogs clean themselves after they potty, thats why I get grossed out when they lick their owners on the mouth

      Meg Dizon I get even more grossed out when people wear makeup and pets lick that...🤮

    My little min-pin girl lost her rear left foot as a 2-3 week old puppy with momma in a bad crate...tri-pod life has suited her fine until recently. My old vet told me that IVDD was going to happen. He did not tell me it would virtually happen over night. More recently her back end has become less usable. The home made sling has been perfect, but I'm thinking a wheelycart would be best so she doesn't have my feet right next to her when she goes outside. She is 14 and coming close to her bridge rest, but I can't give up on her. She kept me here for her care, and I can't just let her go. Service animal now retired and living what's left on her terms. She still signals my problems, just not in the same way she used to. I'm afraid to order a wheelchair thru Amazon because you never know what you'll get, and the main companies are so expensive for a few months use. I'm disabled on a fixed income and it breaks my heart every day watching her turn into a couch potatoe. She definitely loves her lap and cuddle time. But she also loves the outdoors and I've been doing all I can to keep her up and going.
    These videos have helped tremendously the last few days after finding you. Thank You so much for adding these incredibly informative videos to your page. They will help soo many of us who haven't been lucky in finding information videos on these matters.

    Love watching your videos, you're so upbeat, and such a good momma. Both you and Zoey are so in tuned with each other. This video is very informative, funny too. I definitely think your idea about a"how-to" video would be great. Looking forward to the next video.

    A very informative video. I am sure a detailed video is an awesome idea. I have a three legged cat and her back leg is is missing, I do the ear scratch for her. She just loves the ear scratch. 💕🐾

    I still don’t get how some dogs are handicapped and they don’t have legs but Zoe does

    • @lsmithdixon
      @lsmithdixon 4 года назад

      Not all handicapped dogs or animals are the same. Some may have no legs, one, two, three, 4, or have a disability that doesnt even affect their legs.
