  • @MocomaminecraftYTOficial
    @MocomaminecraftYTOficial Год назад +26

    Cool one! A couple of remarks
    - This line is kinda special. I don't really know how iryo has managed to run trains on this route, in fact, as the line doesn't use ERTMS, but an old niche spanish traffic control system called LZB. This is because the line is the oldest dedicated high-speed line in spain. This also means that max speed is 250km/h, not 300 (although in the neigborhood of Madrid tracks could have been improved, I'm not totally sure) so I don't understand why the train display said 270 (update: I actually checked and vmax is 300km in a tiny tiny section near los yébenes, and vmax in the rest of the track is about 270)
    - About the 15min stops, I don't think renfe gets more priority. In the last year or so, traffic in atocha has increased and right now ADIF has declared the infrastructure to be over capacity, which could be the reason for the delays. In fact, some levante services are being moved to chamartin station to ease atocha a bit
    Also, as you are in spain. The new pajares base tunnel, which will connect Leon and Asturias in under an hour, and 18+ years in the making, is to open within a year. And the old pajares ramp railway is scheduled to close when that happens. It is a most scenic journey which people have compared to the gottard pass, but it is going to close due to high maintenance costs (an unthinkably poor decision if you ask me). This route is also served by one of the most traditional and trustworthy trains that have ever run in spain, renfe series 440, which are also to be swapped by new sets. Maybe you wold be interested in doing this route, as it will be impossible to do in a relatively short time.

    • @wasmic5z
      @wasmic5z Год назад +7

      I'm pretty sure the LZB system is actually German. It stands for LinienZugBeeinflussung (Linear Train Influencing). It's still in use on significant parts of the German high-speed network too, so equipment for it is probably quite easily available for installation in trains.

    • @MocomaminecraftYTOficial
      @MocomaminecraftYTOficial Год назад

      @@wasmic5z Is that so? I believe the LZB in madrid-andalucia line is a modification of the ASFA system, but I may very well be wrong. It should explain how did iryo get their hands in the equipment, certainly

      Iryo aren't even meant to be low cost, but they're excellent value 👌🏻

    • @juanmcm
      @juanmcm Год назад

      Well, _Iryo_ is a game changer in the sense that it will offer _'more or less'_ the same than they have in Italy with _Trenitalia_ so a high level of quality and service, where _Renfe_ had a monopoly (so no competition on there, except _Ouigo)_ and only the line Madrid-Sevilla had a warranty of arriving late than 5 minutes.
      So now, in the _low-cost_ range you can find that _Renfe_ have created the new brand _Avlo_ (which is the acronym of alta velocidad low cost) to try to compete with _Ouigo_ and, I think that Renfe must react fast, because _Iryo_ already have experience in Italy...
      I don't think that Iryo is entirely low cost in the sense that is a bit _-expensive-_ well balanced in a close comparison with the plane and even with a bus, in the quality/price/time of travel ratio.

      @juanmcm Год назад

      Well @@NonstopEurotrip as maybe you have read (I also compare that with bus and plane), I said that isn't low cost because it's a bit expensive and well, why must be a low cost?
      Almost any company can create a low cost service, but a business/executive class not really.
      Instead positioning in the lower grade _Iryo_ people folks decide (I think very clever and wisely) to enter also in a higher grade and having a competitive prices.
      Is expensive? I think yes, but having the _Haizea_ service on board and other things like material of the seats and more that I assume you saw also in _Frecciarossa,_ I think yes it worths.
      Maybe Renfe must be worried about, but I think that they must think first on improving the _AVE_ experience on board and then maybe am offer more or less the same than _Iryo_ or other...

    Not all high speed services are in Puerta de Atocha right now; some are diverted to Chamartin until the new not dead-end station sector is built.
    The stop outside Atocha at these time of the day I would assume is some kind of delayed overnight engineering works.
    I've rode this last winter; they had an impressive acceleration (10' early arrival) very good ride but for me Velaro is still a bit higher in comfort (for cabin pressurizing). Lounges in Madrid and Barcelona are very basic; only a coffe or chocolate is included. And for tickets it's possible to use the "Casa Iryo" at the stations served. Has a lot of things in spain...takes along time coming, due to the local mayors being kept 'happy' for them to approve, to not having enough money for the project ...or the project money 'mysteriously' going 'missing'.
    An example of this would be to the west of Madrid in a place called 'Caceres'. I remember travelling on from Madrid to Caceres 22 years ago (on a 'choo-choo' train that traveled at walking pace!). Train took 4 hours to arrive!.
    Outside Caceres station there was a massive roadside billboard boasting about the 'soon' to be high speed train from Caceres to Madrid. Yep!..you guessed it, that railway line and high speed train to date still hasn't materialised.
    Furthermore, On the forever popular 'tourist rich coastline of the Costa del Sol, 'local' trains only run from Malaga down the coast before they 'run out' of train line at Fuengirola, and there it ends.
    Now you would have thought that on one of the country's most popular and visited (money rich) coastlines in Europe, that the Costa Del Sol, with all of its foreign and tourist investment that of course they would have extended the lines beyond to like Mijas Costa, Calahonda and Marbella to name just a few (Yes!, no train line or station at Marbella!???!).
    But no, 60 years on from the mass influx of tourist boom to spain....ain't happened to date!. In one of the most visited country in Europe!.
    This bad example is either a product of bad planning and lack of responsibility (heads in the sand syndrome!), money 'disappearing' or just the complacency of well "it doesn't matter the tourist and the foreign investors will still continue to visit even if we don't plough the money into the transport infrastructure etc"....!????!
    In stark contrast you have spanish islands like Majorca and Ibiza who in half this time have invested a high proportion of foreign financial investment and tourist cash back into their islands infrastructure and public resources. Something that mainland spain needs to think about (along with their 'many municipality mayors'). Such a poor opportunity missed by an otherwise beautiful country.

      @Erulluvatar idiota quel treno è stato costruito prima che hitachi comprasse l'ansaldo breda che ha costruito quei treni insieme a bombardier , è dal 2015 che sono in funzione nell' AV Italiana , Iryo non è altro che un consorzio tra una ditta spagnola e Trenitalia che ne detiene il 45% , e comunque Hitachi Rail Italy è un azienda Italiana con sede in Italia, per farti capire è la stessa cosa di VW nei confronti di SEAT

      @@NonstopEurotrip the food on board Iryo is supposed to be Basque influenced, with the Brand Haizea, meaning Wind, and a luxe pintxo bar inspo!!

    You know what would be most helpful? If you took your trips in regular class, something almost all of your viewers will take, if they take a trip on a train. The only reason you keep taking first class is for your own comfort and to feel cool. Make these videos for your viewers, not for yourself.

      Over half my trips are in 'regular' class as you call it

      @@NonstopEurotrip No, I call it coach class and others call it second or tourist class. I was using a generic term. So you mostly take second class? *Except* in Spain, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, India, Sweden, Finland, Georgia, Armenia, Greece, Turkey, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, UK, and the USA, it seems. Face it, you are traveling for fun and money, while not being helpful to anyone who might want to take the same trip - people who will NOT spend the extra money you do to enjoy yourself.
