I have watched this video twice in the past two days. I've added several books to my next book order and can't wait to check them out. I've even noticed a few that I already had since I came into this path via the scientific / spiritual side first. You might want to read the 'Biology of Belief' if you like Joe Dispenza. It's very interesting to see how belief truly changes us and is complementary to what Dispenza says. Gregg Braden is also interesting when it comes to the mix of science and faith but from the science side. Thank you again for sharing your library.

I love your library, and the fact you've thrown in a few things that in their own writing aren't necessarily part of the occult is fascinating; I do that too.
Ive decided to throw in some old ww2 era books ive found into my library.
One is on inorganic chemistry, which, will definitely be helpful in an indepth guide to the elements and chemicals.
And the other is on electricity and electrical circuits. I figured the understanding of literal energy in its scientific base, and how we use it for our every day lives will also be helpful. (Im also just a science nerd)
As well as the fact i also have one of dr. Joe's books so far, which is becoming supernatural. Its fantastic, i plan to get the others soon!
    Again, awesome library and video!!

Thanks for sharing your bookshelves with us with your collection of books. I seen a lot of them that I have in my collection and some that are on my wishlist. I myself use Scott Cunningham's books and they are great for a beginner starting out. You take what you want from the books and leave the rest. When I started out I thought of myself as all three: a pagan, a Wiccan and a Witch. I now only think of myself as a Pagan and a Witch. I have been on this path since 98' and there were years I didn't practice that much, life got too busy.
I love herbal medicine, aromatherapy, growing veggies, herbs and flowers. To think when I was younger that I had issues keeping plants alive. I have gotten better and it is trial and error. Especially with getting to know your soil and getting the mixture right. I have been buying gardening books and taking a course on regeneration gardening, it is awesome. Need to be in a home that I don't have to worry about the landscrapers spraying my stuff even when I put up signs saying not to spray. Ugh.

That was a lovely tour of your shelves. It's a great collection. I've seen some wonderful titles among your collection. And yay for poetry! I love love poetry. Side note, I thing fiction/poetry is actually pretty important in any magical practice. I found a lot of inspiration in fiction and poetry over the years. Either to give some inspiration for spell work, or just straight reading poetry to my deities, ect. I love to heard what poetry you enjoy and how some of your poets and what pieces from them you enjoy. I enjoy a lot of different poetry but the main bulk of my current poetry readings are weird poetry.

@@IvyTheOccultist Indeed some things can be hit or miss. I do tend to be drawn to the somewhat darker and stranger poetry. So my recommendation might be really hit or miss, but I'll share my favorite with you.
Dragonfly and Other Songs of Mourning by Michelle Scalise. It's a small little book that made me want to cry my eyes out.
Thirteen Nocturnes by Oliver Sheppard. Really dark but really good. As it's stated on the back of the book. "Thirteen Nocturnes presents a nightmare vision of a world in the grip of apocalypse and shadow."
A Collection of Nightmares. Poetry by Christina Sng.
Ghosts of Past and Future. Selected poetry and Groping Toward the Light by Darrell Schweitzer. I love this man's poetry and short story to death!
The Book of Jade by Park Barnitz. Dark and almost forgot piece of work if it wasn't for Hippocampus Press printing a new version of this work.
Spectral Realms. It's a weird poetry journal that has many poets in it that I love. All the issues are fantastic.
Poems Bewitched and Haunted. From the Everyman's Library Pocket Poets serie.
Lyrical Ballads by William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. I adore The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I also discovered through this book that I really like William Wordsworth poems.
That's what comes too mind of the top of my head.

Controversial opinion: I internally question if anyone that claims to dislike Scott Cunningham because he was Wiccan has ever read one of his books throughly. I began my journey in the early 90s when the internet was still called the information superhighway, and connecting with other witches was difficult. He was one of the few authors that validated solitary practitioners at a time when the validity of a solitary practice was questioned by some of the other popular authors of the day. Obviously, I chose a more Pagan path over traditional Wicca, but Cunningham lit the way for me more than anyone else. Having read most of his books, I think the most exclusionary thing he ever wrote was Wicca in the Kitchen (which was called ‘The Magic in Food’ back then (get off my lawn lol)) because it doesn’t include anything about meat, other than that he wouldn’t be including meat. He was a vegetarian that held fast to his ideals, and I respect that. I still have a copy and I still refer to it. Love me some Cunningham!

Christopher Penczak does have a wiccan flare so there may be a few wiccan influences in there, but it didn't bother me at all! I actually don't mind reading from wiccan authors. Take what resonates and leave the rest 😆 For the most part (and from what I can recall) his Temple of Witchcraft wasn't too wiccan based! I think it's a book that would be beneficial for everyone.

Thank you for bringing us into your home. ❤️ You have quite the collection! I'd be interested in seeing some of your fiction picks. 😉 I've read Moon Magic by Diane Ahlquist and plan to get Moon Spells by her as well. I love learning about the moon and her cycles and how those affect us. I'd love to go deeper into that topic and perhaps venture into planetary magic...someday! ❤️ I love working with crystals and have Maia Tolls illustrated Crystallary and Oracle cards...sadly, that's the only book I have on crystals. 🙁

Hey, that's a great start! I love that Moon Magic book. It's still probably the top book I'd recommend for lunar magick specifically. And it's ok if you only have 1 book on crystals! I find that everyone's experience with different crystals vastly differs... Sometimes it's better to just experiment with a crystal and see how it makes you feel. ☺️ And thank you!!

I love looking at other's books. Great video. On a personal note, I'm not a big fan of Llewellyn. Some of their books are important, but most are just "wiccan fluff." And the reason why many don't care for the Kybalion is that it's a fairly new book and isn't actually Hermeticism. There's ideas in it that are just new age or new thought.

    • @IvyTheOccultist
      @IvyTheOccultist  Год назад

That is a HUGE question that deserves an entire video to explain! 😂 I won't be able to fully explain this in a comment but here goes: quantum physics gives a potential explanation for how and why magick works, in many different ways. For example, chaos magick is based heavily on chaos theory which is rooted in quantum physics. If you're ever interested in the "how" and "why" of magic, definitely look into some quantum physics/quantum mechanics!
