Marjorie or Marjory born Bruce and later Stewarts tomb on the right at 3:17, King Robert I's eldest daughter and the mother of King Robert II first Stewart Monarch in Scotland.
I’m from Paisley, Fergusley Park to be exact, emigrated to Canada when I was 10. This building had no interest for a boy that age. When I come “Home” this is a must on my list…oh and my old primary school St. Fergus. On RUclips I got hooked on a bbc show Time Team. Wishing they did an episode of the rich history here. I took my time going through this beautiful place. Tapestries hanging for centuries it looked like from its walls supporting its boat shaped ceilings, the grave statues of the princess, king and queens, the floors with the markers and the Celtic cross. Take a walk outside and the green areas were also graves of the clergy I was told. I’m 66 now, and I would go back in a heart beat. I heard about finding artifacts in an outhouse pit, that made me laugh…who’s never dropped a coin in a well. Thank you for this video.
I'm 30, born and raised in paisley. I'm literally stuck in this town. It's a shambles, the high streets dead. The council is run by people who serve themselves. The notorious one way system has killed the commerce of this town. Soon as arnotts went that was it.
Hello again Paisley Heritage - i sent you a request to use some footage of another video of yours in a story i am doing on paisley Abbey, if you approve that request, do you mind if I use some of this footage also please, again i will post video & channel link on same video.
Beautiful building, but the Russian music is odd, plenty of appropriate music to use otherwise. The abbey was founded by Catholics, funded by Catholics, and built by Catholics for Catholics, when all of Scotland WAS Roman Catholic. A spiritual and religious heritage over 1,000 years old, swept away by a self aggrandizing king who, with his cronies, lined their pockets with the spoils of the reformation. The abbey was designed and built around the primary act of devotion for Catholics, the Mass. A real shame that Masses are no longer said here, and that chant and incense no longer rise to heaven within the abbey's walls.
