Mechatronik is well known to upgrade Mercedes M Coupe/Cabriolet and SL with 5 and 5.5 liter engines. Their latest experimental C107 and R107 with updated Mercedes engine and carbon fiber body panels. Excellent concept. This is a proper sleeper with the 2JZ and super reliable for sure. Impressed!

The steering wheel was on the left side which makes it a Non-Japanese market car originally (most likely made for the US market) that was imported to Japan. Usually by “imports” the US centric market refers to vehicles shipped into the US from places like Japan with a right (“wrong”) side steering wheel. This was the reverse of that with a left side steering wheel vehicle being imported into Japan which is a right side steering wheel country, thus “reverse import”
I understand the swap is easier and more logical to do considering the availability of the 2jz in Japan... But boy oh boy would a m104 be more awesome. The German 2jz, also capable of 1000hp, look up TurboBandit Mercedes.
Is there a chance you and Masa could l go visit Akira Nakai? I’d imagine difficult because he’s out of the country doing his build. But man he’s fascinating builder/enthusiast an OG l racer. He’s humble as hell and stays out of the spotlight. A Porsche Ninja 🥷
I really like masas "character development", if you will, to see him grow up and establish himself is really cool.
