Yeah our plan was to go when our youngest was a little older but then we randomly checked if the campgrounds had open sites and next thing we knew we planned out a full week in Southern Utah. haha
Thanks! So happy it came out! I dunked my Sony a7 into a river the day before this trip and was completely depressed I had to shoot the entire trip to Zion on my iPhone. but the videos came out so well which was a relief. Haha
A few small missteps haha. But man I wish I could have fit the van into more spots of East Zion, so beautiful out there. But you know it was a great trip when the kids are super sad to go home after a week in the area :) It’ll be great to see you and the family tackle the National Parks! Honestly, I don’t know how you do it! These national parks have so much to talk about. Never sure what facts to focus on 😅
Wait a minute! It's so amazing place and unique experience crossing the river and the best camping. WOW SO COOL!! Thank you for detail information all of this great adventure and I love your thumbnail ❤ as always great video!😊🙂💯👍
what an experience. didnt realize visiting Zion needed so much planning ahead. Narrows looked awesome, hard work backpacking with the kids through the water 💪 nice setup with the portable hot water. missing the shuttle back would be one of my worst fears. those 20 minutes you got with the waterfall by yourselves was precious. thanks for sharing ✨
Great coverage. You definitely need to try it late summer (end of August, 1st week of September). Water level is lower, and the temp is good to wade through with kids with just shorts. Need to stay at Watchman with electric so you have AC though. I remember when that park was not very busy back in the days, but those days are long gone.
Yeah we would love to go again when the girls are older when the River is lower. We walked up to narrows initially with similar info from all our friends. Saw the river and said, oh yeah they all went in summer, not spring. The extra miles and returning definitely taught us a valuable lesson 😅
It was fun. Happy to go have gone with the kids at such a young age so I could use them as an excuse to avoid the angels landing hike haha I really wanted to do it but am to nervous to try haha.
Great video - thank you for sharing! May be headed there this fall with our 2.5yo. Question: How did you get to drive to the other part of Zion since the South (Springdale) entrance roads are shuttle only?
Thanks! Hope you and the family get to make it out there it's great. As for driving around Zion, a large section of it is drivable. The park has a lot of through traffic so you can still drive through the south gate, but parking inside the park on the side of the road is really sparse. The Shuttles are just for the main canyon (which has it's own shuttle entrance a couple miles after the Springdale NP gate), so you'll need your car to get to any of the trails outside of it's service area.
Definitely on the bucket list. This video was a great heads up for both kids and adult preparation! Thank you and have fun! Do you have any tips on rentals for camper-vans like yours?
Yeah when I finished the edit I was thinking this video might not focus on the kids enough haha. Kept going back and forth on what we should try to share. As for renting an adventure van like ours, I've heard good things about Outdoorsy. It's like an Airbnb for Rv's and Vans. We also see a ton of Cruise America Campers on the road when we're out so that probably a good bet as well!
Great video, but it sadly discouraged me from taking my family I have 4 kids 15 years 4 year old twins 2 year old I feel like it would be too much work to enjoy the park
Yeah that would be a bunch of work with 4 at there ages, I think once the twins turn 6 you’ll have a much easier time with Zion. Sticking to only exploring the stops with the shuttle would help a lot as well.
Those are Minimeis Carriers. They take a little bit to break in and get used too but once you do they are pretty easy to use. Trang never got used to it, but I used them until the girls were too big to be carried in them.
How would you feel about going to Zion with a 5 year old who is about right at the weight limit for those carriers and would probably have to hike on her own?
Ah sorry for the slow response. If you are at the weight limit on the shoulder carrier I would personally opt not to get it, since your kiddo will be growing out of it so fast. Also carrying our oldest who was 5 at the time of that narrows hike kicked my butt, and I tapped out way sooner than Trang did. While I did carry her on the narrows hike, our oldest was easily able to hike all the other kid friendly Zion Hikes. Also if you visit narrows in the summer it’s a much easily hike with way lower water. Atleast four families that we know have hiked narrows with there 5-8 year olds in the summer and they did pretty good. Making it about a mile before turning around. And that’s a decent distance to see some great stuff imo. Hope that helps! It’s an amazing national park :)
Zion is definitely a site to be seen cause it’s one of our most beautiful national parks, and it’s well setup to handle families with a town right next to the park if you need anything. It’s just really crowded which can be stressful, and you have to rely on their transportation system. Snow canyon is great because it feels like a mini national park. It’s not that big, and you can go through it at your own pace. BUT, If you’re driving in from distance, we would still recommend seeing Zion and suffering through the crowds because to this day, it’s still one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been to in America. With some of the most jaw dropping landscapes that are hard to forget. Snow canyon is the perfect day trip to add onto Zion. Sadly we just can’t recommend Snow Canyon over Zion if you can only visit one.
@@averageguy1261 Awesome! Happy you found us! We still got a huge backlog for California and International stuff to get uploaded so we’ll be posting for some time. Congrats on the growing family. Life gets pretty intense once you grow to 4 so good luck and feel free to reach out whenever you got any questions. We try to be quick to respond. Happy new year :)
Thanks! Including riverside walk the hike out to Big Springs is approximately 4.5miles. The folks that we rented our gear from said it takes about 8hours to hike riverside walk + narrows to the turnaround point.
I’m sorry if there is a story but personally, I would just close my truth. Best friend I’ve ever had but I have to story tell you about this kid. I had to learn more about his best friend. He’s a Burlington and there’s also this I tell you how we grew up here I am I had to talk to you later because I have to do something I am my best friend friend just died and we don’t want to go letters to make people I know I don’t want to get ugly. It’s Christmas time in doing it. I’m not trying to call this person at all.
the most epic hike we've ever done. wonderful sharing
Thanks! Yeah narrows is such a fun experience :)
Showed us so much of beautiful Zion!
Hope it was helpful :)
So cool! We camped out in Zion several years ago before kids. Since then, we’ve been thinking about a good age to take our kids out there.

The most epic hike we've ever done. What a wonderful experience for your family!
Yeah it’s just such a unique stand out hike. We’re glad to gave it a go with the kiddos :)
Great guide! We loved our time in Zion as well

Much appreciated. Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks!!! Everywhere we went in southern Utah was so beautiful. Zion's such a great National Park.
Such great insight and tips. Thanks!
No problem :) Such a great place to see in person.

Yeah Lower Pine Creek Waterfall alone was amazing considering how many folks were visiting the park. Couldn't believe it
Enjoyed your video! I love visiting Zion’s. It’s one of my favorite places. But it is getting very crowded.
Thanks for watching it :) Yeah we went off season and were surprised by the crowd size. Couldn’t imagine peak season.

Really nice tips, I haven't been to zion in 9 years. We tried to do that river hike but didn't go that far because of our relatives.
It was fun. Happy to go have gone with the kids at such a young age so I could use them as an excuse to avoid the angels landing hike haha

What is the brand of the kids hiking backpack/ chair

If you had to choose between Zion and Snow Canyon for a family of four, which between the two?

Things to know, don't bring children under 5, they won't remember it and all they will do is complain....
That’s definitely an option :)
