Great tutorial! So a little trick you can do if you don’t want something as strong as epoxy but your worried the wax isn’t strong enough is use some Elmers Glue All glue. It’s surprising strong, easy to clean up while wet, and waterproof but also not so strong that you can get the handle off.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll give this a shot next time. How much do you use? The same way I used the beeswax or just a little at the bottom and then beeswax on top?
@@AGuThing it depends on how tight the fit is. I usually put enough to completely cover the tang in a thick coat and a thin layer on the inside of the handle. The squeeze out is cleaned up with a little water on a towel. If you get squeeze out then you don’t need to use wax because the glue has filled the gap. Let it sit for a few days, at least 48 hours. It takes longer to cure then some other glue.
Maybe? lol. After placing this order I messaged the seller and asked for a blue one and they obliged. The last time I ordered one, I asked for yellow/orange, they said ok, but I received a green/purple one. Was still gorgeous though so wasn’t too upset.
is it 100% pure beeswax? or the one they use for hair removal? and i know it's been a while since you posted this, but how did the handle turned out? has it come loose? would you still preffer wax instead of hot glue?
It was 100% pure beeswax, used for candle making. Handle has never come loose and I use this knife very regularly. I’m still very happy with the result!
Slightly heavier and the balance shifted towards the handle. Balance point is now right at the top of the handle, which for me is perfect in a straighter profile knife; faster chopping.
Hello I just ordered a tojiro shirogami , handle and beeswax to give it a try. My first white steel knife I wonder how sharp I can get it too. Thanks for sharing.
Good video! Glad I found it, cause these are great knives but the handle is just useless lmao. Do you think I could use epoxy to glue the new handle in?
For sure, I have materials to make a replacement handle...but for the price of those Chinese ones I might just save myself the work and order one..or two or three lol. Now that you’ve shown how easy it is to get the old handle off I’m raring to get at it. I’m loving the Tojiro white #2 steel after these years. Such a pleasure to sharpen. The sheer length of the blade @240 mm adds a bit of difficulty in the process though.
I don't have a torch, is it okay if I will heat the tip of the handle via gas stove burner? sorry for this question, kinda new/just starting out with knife maintenance
Josen John Manuel Gas stove would definitely work fine. It doesn’t need be super hot, just hot enough to melt the beeswax. When you say silicon gasket do you mean something similar to bath tub caulking? Id never done it but If it’s food safe, I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work but it sounds much more permanent than beeswax.
Here ya go: a.aliexpress.com/_mtUG9sj only thing is you can’t choose the color, you get a random one. However I’ve gotten 4 so far and they’ve all been unique and beautiful.
Thanks for the video. Handle is very beautiful.
My pleasure! Thank you.
good job. thanks for sharing. excellent contents.
Thanks for the feedback!
@@AGuThing can you instruct me where you bought the new knife handle? That blue one is awesome. Do you have a link for it? Thanks
Huy Lam here ya go: Only thing is you can’t choose the specific color you want.

Well done re-handeling.
Thanks. Such a cheap and easy mod to do but makes such a noticeable difference.
Great video I ordered one for myself also if I ever get upset with factory wenge!
👍👍
Awesome!
Very nice, I was looking to do something similar. I take it that you can't choose the color of the handle you order from Aliexpress?

thanks, will try the same. i'll get some beeswax then, great video by the way@@AGuThing
@@cristobalsilva6288 thanks! Would love to hear how it goes for you.
Looking forward to sharpening
Is it heavier? Did the balance changed? Great video, cheers!

Edward Jarrell Nice! Enjoy it. I’m really liking how the patina is developing as I use it. Gives it character IMO.
Good video! Glad I found it, cause these are great knives but the handle is just useless lmao. Do you think I could use epoxy to glue the new handle in?
Thanks for the feedback! Could for sure use epoxy. Would be permanent though so make sure it’s the handle you want.
I’ve had the kiritsuke for 4 years and the handle is entirely functional.
TrappenWeisseGuy ; for sure functional, but I like this one much better.

You could use epoxy, but of course you’d never be able to get the handle off ever again without destroying it.
hey just wondering how your clone Ali express massage gun is doing? like is the battery holding up etc
Still running strong! Runs a little louder than when it was brand new but nothing crazy.

or can I use a silicon gasket instead?

@@AGuThing oh I see, thanks a lot! maybe I'll stick with the beeswax considering that it is more food safe haha.
Thanks again!
Josen John Manuel my pleasure. Good luck!
Where did you by the Handel

@@AGuThing thanks
I use hot glue same Concept
Nice! Do you only use hot glue or in conjunction with beeswax for the final sealing at the seam where the blade meets the handle?
