Nvidia employees said that the CEO wants to turn Nvidia into Apple, where they don't have "partners" and everything is "Nvidia certified". Having board partners leads to less profit than a vertically integrated company where Nvidia sells all the cards, and names whatever price they want.
As long as people don't care about company's behaviours and still buy their products companies are encouraged to acts like dicks. NVidia will not change unless this affect their bottom line.
EVGA in the last year's have really become a company for people to point at and say , please all do it like them. In the shortage EVGA was always a company that stayed transparent and down to earth considering availability and price and now being consequent and dropping such a huge part of your sales and expertise is pretty remarkable

@@duvaintheodd5695 Nvidia decides their baseline msrp but the AIB's are able to set their msrp after the baseline msrp. When the RTX 30 series was launched the msrp was set. They all used the chip shortage and the crypto boom as an excuse to raise their prices while telling us that it was costing them more to manufacture/ship these units. So you're telling me that Nvidia and AMD have given the "green light" to these AIB's to increase their original msrp GPU's 3x the cost? EVGA was charging $2800 for their 3090's on their website.
I cannot imagine the stress of trying to run a company when you have no access to drivers to fully test your product (but will be the one getting the flack), have no idea what the price is going to be, are capped on maximum price, are going to be undercut by your suppliers own product and yet you still have to make commitments on GPU/memory kits in advance in order to have the chance of producing enough product to compete. It's insane. Every day must feel like playing russian roulette. You just have to hope the demand is there without being able to make any guesses on split of product line based on the price it's going to come out at. If you can make any money at all. Linus talks about the stresses with the vagueries of dealing with manufacturers and guessing when product will arrive. Imagine that and then all this other crap, I can totally understand why EVGA said no more.

I knew about them being bad with drivers on the Linux side (which is stupid because of how much money Linux and machine learning/HPC applications make them), but going as far as to screw over their partners ? Yeah Linus Torvalds was right, screw them.
@@playman350 Yeah, like nVidia basically created GPGPU market with CUDA, and now many of the fastest supercomputers go to AMD because then they have fully open source stack. And that matters not from any principled reason, but because that then allows the engineers and programmers that run those billion dollar facilities to diagnose, _fix_ things, and optimise the full stack. With nGreedia you're shit out of luck.
For very different reasons though. If I remember, Torvalds was just cross because Nvidia refuses to release OSS drivers. But I don't see Apple or Microsoft being cross for the same reason, so I'm like, closed source is fine if it works well. Stop complaining. @@adrycough Strongly disagree. For evidence see such technology either abandoned, separately licensed or "segmented" away from consumers such as NVLink (try to find it on the 4090) , 3DVision and vGPU. I have no love for AMD, but fsck Jensen.

I was under the impression that NVLink died because nobody used it because of its diminishing returns and lack of support by developers. Sorry to the 5 people who used and enjoyed 3DVision and vGPU. @@adrycough I never used 3DVision out of principle because they advertised it on the box, but then charged extra for the license. That was purely a moneygrab and could have made the difference between 3DTV staying or dying as it did by facilitating wide adoption. And while NVLink is not a thing in gaming anymore it is absolutely a thing for small creator 3D animation. While you can use multiple GPUs without NVLink in software such as Blender, NVLink allows you to pool the memory so you can have bigger scenes with bigger textures. NVidia has now made another moneygrab, making it almost impossible for small creators to compete with large corporations who can afford the 100% markup for equivalent Quadro (yes I know Quadro doesn't exist anymore) pro cards.
To give you an idea how good eVGA customer / enthusiast support actually was: back in 2008 I got an eVGA 8800 GTS 512 with no purchase receipt and traces of voltmods replaced under lifetime warranty, just because the card was used to set a 3DMark 2001 world record.
Honestly EVGA deserves nothing but respect and admiration for this move. Pure and utter baller move from them. Mad respect. You can bet my PC's are only ever getting EVGA PSU's for the foreseeable future. Maybe that was the goal? I don't even care.
I'm guessing they were expecting a huge plunge in gpu revenue over all. With the crash of crypto and the huge inflation the world is experiencing, I don't think the tech market will fair well over the next few years.
Yeah, GPU market is dead. So much extra inventory right now thanks to the crypto boom bust cycle. Same here, EVGA PSU's for me. That seems to be a huge vote of confidence in their PSU product lines.

Never owned an EVGA cards. But over the years, I've seen people only talk good things about them. After this I might purchase their PSU to show my support.
I guy exclusively EVGA graphics and power supply then Asus for motherboard and they best in those categories. Also EVGA power supply's have a nice finish texture to them as well looks high quality which they are.

Took a MONTH for them to agree to RMA it and I had to pay shipping! Vs Bought a EVGA 3070 direct and it fried 10 mins after playing New World the same day...Had a new GPU within the week and they paid shipping. EVGA will be missed!
I once had a dead card, i rma my card to germany, and 2 days after, i had a new card, and because the old were 3years old almost, they couldnt give me the same, so i got upgraded. They must have sent the new card almost instant when they got my card or something. Crazy

EVGA is just a great company in general. I used them in my builds for myself, friends, and family for years even before I started watching tech RUclipsrs. Never had a PSU or GPU from them fail.
My first GPU was an EVGA 1070 I bought in 2016, sold it to my buddy and it's still running, and the EVGA PSU I've had in my PC for near 7 years is still going strong
This, their hardware is stunning, top performance and pushes the envelope. But their business side just sucks hard. I mean why the hell does the CEO in his what 50’s think it’s cool to wear a thick leather jacket in EVERY video or product launch? He’s like a wannabe biker desperately trying to relive his youth.

The marketing team must have told him it was a good image to project, probably said it'll capture more of the youth market. Compared to AMD's Intels or Microsoft's CEO's, even Elon Musk, they all wear smarter clothes as you'd expect or smart casual clothes. Stuff they wear everyday. And they don't wear the exact same clothes in every video they appear in or product launch they do.
I feel like this is true of the majority of manufacturers I buy from. Great product, designers and makers are devoted and put in the effort, but executives take the piss. From electronic goods, to furniture to software etc the story repeats.
They most likely will be, assuming they stay in the motherboard market. They've been making AM4 motherboards since last year, so it'd only make sense for them to move to AM5 should they choose to continue being active in that segment.

EVGA was the only card maker I trusted even if sometimes their cards weren't the best they'd always back up their products. I don't know any other company that supports their products like EVGA does.
Regarding the doomsday /buried pc, I actually found it quite informative as an ISP technician who manages several outdoor solar-only network deployments that utilize similar containers for outdoor housing. The video inspired me to invite my company to consider burying our containers in a similar fashion for the temperature management alone! All our above ground boxes with no actual pcs, running solid state batteries and networking switches and routers with active cooling still exceed peak operating temperatures during heat waves in this crazy California weather. Thanks for doing that video!!

EVGA is the only gpu company I trusted with my money. They had awesome customer service and the step up program was incredible value. They will be missed.

I worked for a big Korean consumer brand, I remember being approached by a big cable company to be involved in a tender bid. I spoke to our SVP, his response: we're not bidding on supplying them again. I think the cable co was shocked that a company would refuse to bid to supply them, but they were hard work as a customer, so it wasn't worth it for us. I absolutely agree about how small the industry can be. I didn't work in computing, but in our corner of 'CE', I we all are competitive in selling but we'll sit down for a beer and gossip like no one else.
I built a system in I think 2007, because Dell messed up a Dimension 9200 order. It was supposed to arrive with a 7950xx card. When first powered on, it had an ?ATi card. After some dozens of support emails, they didn't have that 7950xx card in stock. Was fairly obvious to me at the time, it was a really rare dual gpu laptop card. The 9200 wasn't a laptop. They sent me a 8800gtx ( full bore dell made) because it was the closest replacement they had. It neither fit in the d9200 case, nor could it be powered by the psu. So I built a rig around that gpu >< Intel qx6850 (quad core extreme edition), Asus Striker Extreme mobo, I think 4x 2GB OcZ rams, 2x OcZ 30gb ssd's ( in raid0), and my still in service, and ridiculous Themaltake Armor case. That original Dell Outlet order was somewhere around 700€, less than a 7950xx was worth, and I spent around 3500€ to build that system around their mistake. But, that 8800gtx was a stupendously good card, for the 6 years it lasted me.
I've had every tier EVGA card since the 1050, 1050 Ti, 1060, 1080, Hybrid 2080, Hybrid 3080, and now Hybrid 3090 Ti. It's a shame... I have been brand loyal to them for GPU's for decades. Best of the best IMO. I feel something good will come from this though.
EVGA was a go to for me for years, I had a motherboard from them that had an issue with the bios, and they had the hands down best customer support I have ever had. I will literally pay more now to buy EVGA in particular

I have used male-male plugs in emergency situations in the past. I wouldn't recommend them, but in certain situations, it can be useful. That said, anyone that would be brave enough to use a male-male plug should also know how to wire one up themselves. Allowing the public to purchase these is a horrible, horrible idea.
I have a ton of EVGA products in my computers and they are by far the most solidily made products i have. I definitely will not abandon them and support them the best i can. Good luck evga whatever you make next im saving up for.
I don't agree with all takes by LTT, but their principled stance on issues such as this one involving Nvidia is definitely commendable. This "calling out" style, for a lack of a better term, is very important in keeping the industry overall from tilting too far into cutthroat territory, thereby ultimately improving the market for everyone - not just consumers, but also the industry itself.
The high power restrictions for 4000 series has made me wonder if its a good idea for me to switch as well (This isnt hurting) ...problem is i wouldnt even know where to begin with thinking like that.
Australian's Consumer Rights regulator (ACCC) has been going after Amazon, EBay and other online retailers for a few years about both for their advertising, product safety and failure to honor consumer's rights to waranty, repair or refund. Amazon specifically has been called to give statements on this, I think they learnt the hardway that transplanting their US business model into Australia wasn't going to be easy.
I've been buying EVGA since my first EVGA GTX 550 Ti, over a decade ago. I never had a problem with their cards and always recommended them to people. I'm sad to see them move on, but also grateful to own an EVGA GTX 1060 6GB ACX 2.0, that i'm currently running to this day.
my 1060 EVGA 8 gig is still running like a champ in my other pc. 1080p is ok. But my 2080S Strix is killer for 4k. with my i7 10700k @5.1 ghz all core. NZXT AIO cooled.

Laughing at the male to male connector, I saw one for sale when I was 14 in this electronics store, then made one of my own for a project when I was 15 (There was a specific plug manufactures use in this case, but it was more free for me to make it that way on my own).
Actually since Nintendo started using Nvidia chips in their console their reliability went downhill. Nintendo consoles used to last for decades take, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU, DS, 3DS etc. Now Switch dies in 3-4 years from motherboard, GPU faults if you play a lot. So Nvidia took Nintendo's legendary reliability away.
I see that y’all are interested in in testing power cords… at this point, I think it’d be worthwhile to make a browser extension to automatically load Lab32 data, like Honey does with pricing data.

I think even if Lab32 doesn't make that, however they present their data online would make it relatively (technically) easy for a third party to make an extension that pulls that data - but not sure if that would be cool or even cease-and-desist-able, and I think Luke-n-co could deliberately create barriers to make it harder if they wanted. (But the question of a third-party extension is hopefully irrelevant, because I think Lab32 could dedicate pretty minimal resources to it, if they wanted, and still keep it decent and functional)
I am actually glad Nvidia are pros at burning bridges. It gave AMD in a distinct advantage in the past over Nvidia when the latter dominated due to overwhelming R&D budget. _"Even if Radeon wasnt as good as Geforce this generation, it is still good enough to not deal with the likes of Nvidia!"_ is a common sentiment in the Industry, and why AMD forges such strong and lasting partnerships. If Nvidia were as lovable to business partners, there is a very real risk they could have squeezed out their only rival for good over the last decade.
A close friend of my very specifically got one of those Life-Time warranties and he made out like a bandit because of it. Because by the time he could use the warranty, the card he was using was no longer in stock anywhere so they were forced to upgrade him to a better GPU. Wasn't a lot better, I don't recall exactly which ones they were, before and after, but he was super smug about it when it happened .. even if it took him 5 weeks to get the new GPU :/
I will continue to support EVGA as I absolutely love their power supplies. But honestly I don't care if Nvidia is a bit "better" anymore, I will be buying AMD GPUs from now on.
All AMD needs to do for millions of people to make this switch now, is simply have software feature parity with Nvidia and release a product that performs in the same ballpark as it relative to the prices that both can afford to offer them at. Hell, if AMD were to go and price nvidia's partners out of the market for a few years, they might be able to even gobble up some of that sales volume, by incentivizing partners to sell AMD GPUs instead of Nvidia GPUs. Offer them most of your profits for a while to do it even, if you have to, so long as it eats away rapidly at Nvidia market share. After all, it's only anti-trust worthy when you're already the market leader!
I remember when I was lead bench tech at BTO Manufacturing in Alpharetta, GA and the very first NVidia/EVGA product, the Riva TNT, came in for beta testing. Better than the ATI Rage cards we were selling at the time for sure. I remember running 3DMark 2000 on it and being blow away by the performance. I got to keep that card and now I wish I would have kept it. I've been a EVGA customer since. This is blowing my mind. Yeah, it's like going through a divorce and you're the child, to a degree. Man, this really hits home. I absolutely respect the CEO's decision but at the same time I feel like there is a hole in my freaking soul now.

If I recall correctly there was one driver update to fix a power related bug and she was off to the races. Gonna' miss EVGA graphics cards. This is not true. NVLink also gets new versions/more links over time. The new Hopper architecture for server GPUs does come with the newest NVLink and PCIE 5.0. To quote the Nvidia H100 product website: SXM board: NVLink: 900GB/s PCIe Gen5: 128GB/s PCIE board: NVLink: 600GB/s PCIe Gen5: 128GB/s I think Nvidia just sees NVLink as an enterprise or at least professional workstation (Quadro) grade feature which they wont give to consumer cards anymore. There is just more money to be made there, I guess.
I've been getting Founders' Edition cards because of the debacle with the power chips on cards making them unreliable. I had *no* idea that Nvidia had crippled all their partners with a lack of drivers and information. It's a joke, and probably enough to move me across to AMD's cards once and for all.

Those are immensely frustrating to use, be it if you just want to click something in the footer section, or find an item again that was located several scroll-downs and re-loads away. Give me a paginated list with big enough item count per page anyday instead!
Scrolling "forever" is a bit of a stretch (I know Luke said it first). He reached the bottom in like 5 seconds. There was 53 items total. Even if they do get more items eventually that is what the filter system is for.
I _despise_ infinite scrolling pages. It's especially annoying when you click on something then try to go back and the page either becomes unresponsive for a while as it reloads hundreds of items attempting to return to your previous position - or worse when it just _doesn't_ and puts you back at the start of the page and you have to find where you were manually. Middle-click to open in new tab sometimes works but those types of sites tend to be very Javascript heavy and often breaks that functionality. Actually, you should have been _left-clicking_ to open in a new tab this whole time but of course you don't actually realize that until you have fifty null tabs open. Some days I almost miss the old WEB 1.0 days, with it's direct links, blinking text, difficult to read fonts and embedded MIDI files...almost.

It would be so beautiful to see a boycott of Nvidia products, as they are massively all for their shareholders 110%.. so would be fun to hit them were it hurts, with our wallets.. I’m definitely wayyy more persuaded to put team red back in my pc for the 7000 series gpu’s. Morals matter more to me than having a few fps extra in my games.
@@nadirqg amd has already stepped up their game though. fsr is a life saver for anyone with a weaker or older gpu that wants to play modern games (nvidia's dlss isn't even available to their older gpus as far as I know) which alone makes their reputation as a company better than nvidia. the performance of the 6000 series gpus is also comparable to the rtx 30 series gpus at lower power consumption which saves you money in the long run and that's for the same performance as nvidia. Ray tracing contrary to popular belief also works with the rx 6000 series gpus and you could play with playable framerate
Unfortunately, a huge chunk of GPU sales are for business applications, and as someone in this position, I simply can't justify going with AMD again. I've made that mistake twice now, never again. Their CPUs are excellent, unrivaled in some categories, but on the GPU side they're just not a practical replacement in real world use where it *actually costs money if the GPU doesn't work properly*. Gamer's GPU shits itself, whatever, go touch grass. If my GPUs die, or I have some driver incompatibility that breaks stuff, I'm fucked, and I have never been able to get AMD cards to be at the level of reliability I need.
Really hope they jump to AMD, I have already switched to Radeon and would love to get an EVGA card next time. Sapphire is great having both on the Red team would be good for competition.
Releasing the tools used to make the game is a good move. Never winter nights did the same thing and it’s still around and still has new content constantly coming out from the community.
What Linus said about how much easier it has become to sell dangerous things since online shopping happened is certainly true. Some say that we don’t need any regulation because businesses that make bad things will be out of business soon. That might have worked back when you shopped from people in your town and you knew them but online you can just rename your business and sell the same thing over and over.

Little trick for youtube ads on smartphones-> tap on the video (ad starts), minimize the video, close it, tap on it again (ad starts), minimize it, close it, tap on the video (no ad on the third try). Works 100% of the times for me and on a decently fast phone it's faster than sitting through a minute of unskippable ads :). PS: support the creators you care about and watch the ads :)
EVGA is my go-to for power supplies. Their PSUs have never let me down, give above and beyond, are priced reasonably, and support is awesome, even for small things.
My take: EVGA is trying this as a last measure to get nVidia to flip on the issue. That's why they haven't had any discussions with AMD/Intel. If nVidia doesn't change its mind, EVGA will continue with AMD. If it wasn't like this I feel like they wouldn't have spent so much time elaborating how they're not in kahoots with anyone and that they're leaving the space entirely.
NVIDIA's negative conduct is huge negative impact, especially with their monopoly on AI compute power. If this is the way NVIDIA treats partners you can only imagine how they would treat AI. The GPU space needs more competition to prevent over reaching power.
i used to be really into prepper videos just because it was very fun to watch and see the thought processes into being ready (I started by watching videos about natural disasters) and I personally really liked the prepper pc video, and seeing that its possible to have a low-power cost PC is good for the environment
Does anyone remember when Nvidia bought out the arguably greatest video card manufacturer of all time 3DFX- Voodoo? At the time of purchase, the new designs of the Voodoo 3 through 5 were so far ahead of anything Nvidia produced for years afterwards, if ever. I owned a Voodoo daughter card that was linked to a Matrox Mystique and later, a Voodoo II card and nothing on the market bested these cards for a very long time. Nvidia stopped supporting Glide which was superior to openGL, and just set the gaming community back for whatever purpose only they would know for sure. Ancient history now, and it was commonly known that 3DFX was financially strapped due to their honest , hard working R&D division that were pioneering every aspect of video cards and software for gaming. And they were also undercut by some very cheap video cards used in economy PC's that had little use for high end graphics, but were the highest profit division by far. R&D is very expensive but Nvidia had the resources to keep it running and be literally masters of all the market divisions. But don't listen to me. I turned down stock in both Google (what a stupid name) and Amazon , (what the heck is that?) at their initial offering.
Cool story bro but do you have any sources to back up that idea? ;) From my own pc building around that time the top tnt cards we're already more powerful than the voodoo 3+ cards in 99 and by the 3dfx v5, Nvidia we're off and going with the annihilator series by 2000. At the time I was building some of the world's fastest single chip pcs along side gibbo and marshy, so what ever topped the charts was what went in the pcs. But yeah 3dfx did have some cool technologies hence why they bought them. That's just life. Nvidia has always been and will always be a profit driven cut throat business though. But I do miss my banshee card, that card in my parent pc at the time got me into pc's professionally and was sweet playing half-life for a year and a half before I started working and built my first heavily over clocked pc.
I was very young at the time and had the Diamond Voodoo 1 for a year. Then i went to college and bought a Voodoo 3 and then their final Voodoo 5 which run Quake III with full FSA like a dream. At the time some of my friends bought other cards plus the top of the range Nvidia card. Clearly the Voodoo was wayyyy better in performance than and NVidia product, but the Tech magazines of the time favored NVIDIA in reviews and praised its full Direct X compatibility vs 3DFX glide API. Clearly the magazines worked with Nvidia to push away 3DFX. Shame the Mafia company won that race.
Been a RUclips Premium subscriber for years now and it never ceases to amaze me how many ads I'm might be missing out on while still supporting every channel I watch more than "free users" that have to deal with it. And ad-free YT Music streaming is so underrated.
Suffer? I use an ad blocker, and I haven't seen an ad on desktop RUclips in years. Before I upgraded laptops, my ad blocker had blocked over 500k ads. And since I replaced TV with RUclips, I bet a solid minimum 15% of that is from RUclips.
My view of Nvidia comes from the age of multiple GPU builds, when SLI and Crossfire were relevant. Nvidia's focus on multiple GPU builds was alternating frame rendering, where each GPU draws a full frame and the frame rate cycles through the cards. ATI developed Crossfire to support screen splitting modes to split per-frame workload. At the time, AFR was able to demonstrate better results than screen splitting modes at the time. This forced ATI to focus on AFR in order to compete, despite screen splitting would be able to make a comeback if development continued. Eventually, Nvidia phased out SLI. At one time, multiple GPU rigs was a way to sell more GPUs. So, why did Nvidia phase out SLI? Is it not necessary anymore? Well, if you want 8K resolution... The problem with multiple GPU modes was it would make a pair of Nvidia's GTX/RTX xx70 model cards match or outperform the series Titan card for a lower price. You just need to invest into a motherboard/CPU combo to have the PCIe bandwidth to support 2 or more cards. I figure Nvidia is the major player that set multiGPU support on the software developers over the drivers. I will say there was still potential to develop a better driver-based multiGPU, especially if tile rendering was working. With tile rendering where a GPU renders a screen by dividing the screen into tiles and rendering 1 tile at a time, all the GPUs can automatically dynamically allocate the tiles being drawn, coordinating which GPU drew the tile, which would allow minimal loss scaling. Given Nvidia, or any profit-driven business, would rather sell 1 $1,500 titan class card instead of 2x $500 cards for the same performance, you can see why such strategies needed to die.
the bigger issue with SLI/Crossfire solutions is that ATi and Nvidia couldn't write a driver that treats two separate GPUs as one virtual GPU without introducing latencies that lead to microstutter, and game developers had to optimise for this to combat the latency as well which took a lot of work the developers couldn't financially justify. That's why so many manufacturers developed dual-die cards that reduce the distance between the GPUs as much as possible, to eliminate as much latency as possible. But to reiterate on the point, without a driver that can virtually treat several cards as one, there will be problems with multi-GPU solutions. I reckon AMD is taking their time to develop that for when their GPUs go to chiplet designs just like Zen 2 did.
@@michelvanbriemen3459, the latency issue is a problem with AFR only. AFR demonstrated easy, marketable performance numbers, but it has problems from timing the frame rate pacing, as each card is drawing a different frame. Timing when to tell the game engine when to send the next frame update created your timing issues. Next up was drawing tricks involving using the previous frame, as the previous frame is still being drawn while the new frame is drawing. Nvidia had all the same problems. ATI was developing frame splitting techniques for Crossfire in addition to AFR. The problem with the frame splitting was workload balance. The attempts at frame splitting was Card A drew absolute areas of the frame while Card B drew the other half. Due to each region having different levels of activity, the frame rate was based on the card that had the most workload. The frame splitting techniques would not fall victim to the problems of AFR as a new frame doesn't start until the current frame is done. If a frame splitting technique came around to dynamically balance the drawing workload, then frame splitting rendering would easily overtake AFR. A rendering technique called tile rendering was thrown around alot at one time. Tile rendering split a frame into tiles and the GPU drew one at a time. The logic was the tiles would be scaled based on cache memory, rendering a block that can fit in the cache bank and then writing it to the frame buffer in VRAM, thinking the overhead of tile rendering would be less than the performance gain from reduced strain on VRAM bandwidth. Tile rendering would allow a dynamic frame splitting technique that would permit high scalability with multiple GPUs, as all the GPUs are loaded with the same frame, but each one starts on a different tile, only having to tell the other GPUs which tiles are drawn, uploading the tile to the master GPU when PCIe bandwidth permits during the frame.

I've got NO problem sticking with AMD forever once I finally am able to replace this 1070 at a sensible price (AT msrp right before a new generation is not sensible), and all AMD has to do to keep my business is 1) provide even remotely competitive performance and 2) not start doing things as awful as nvidia does.

Here in the US, RUclips ads can be pretty scammy, and outright nasty during election season. I've started combatting that by setting my VPN to somewhere in Europe. Now my ads are mostly for normal household products. The only downside is I can't do that with the RUclips app on my TV set top box.
That time was a decade ago, right now all that's left is the race to the bottom for the remaining partners. And it wont be long before Nvidia completely does away with them since they've been laying the groundwork for this move for over a decade.
It's sad that EVGA got pushed out by this, but I respect their decision. Almost every GPU I've owned has been an EVGA (and my first built computer had a core2duo, so that's a fair few cards) and all of them have been amazing. I've loved them all. They make good products and have good service. I can't say for sure it will be, but after this, I kind of hope my 2070 is my last Nvidia card...
Every card i've owned in my primary gaming PC since 2011 has been an EVGA FTW series card, ive had every generation since the GTX580. Honestly i've been so impressed by the newer AMD cards, if EVGA did partner with AMD I would make the switch just to buy a RX 8000 FTW card and support EVGA. I have multiple of their motherboards as well. The longest board i've ever owned is my EVGA Z77 FTW, which was the first board to really impress me again since the old XFX 790i Ultra SLI Motherboard.
After continually getting multiple unskippable ads in the middle of 2-4 minute videos, i installed an adblocker a couple years ago and never looked back.
Thanks for your message directed at Nvidia. You have an ability to get through to them that I don't, and you're saying pretty much what I'd like to say. I hope Nvidia is listening. What I'd like is Nvidia to forget about pride, admit it's been abusive, and do whatever it takes to convince EVGA to continue making GPUs.

Nvidia employees said that the CEO wants to turn Nvidia into Apple, where they don't have "partners" and everything is "Nvidia certified". Having board partners leads to less profit than a vertically integrated company where Nvidia sells all the cards, and names whatever price they want.

EVGA in the last year's have really become a company for people to point at and say , please all do it like them. In the shortage EVGA was always a company that stayed transparent and down to earth considering availability and price and now being consequent and dropping such a huge part of your sales and expertise is pretty remarkable

@@duvaintheodd5695 Nvidia decides their baseline msrp but the AIB's are able to set their msrp after the baseline msrp. When the RTX 30 series was launched the msrp was set. They all used the chip shortage and the crypto boom as an excuse to raise their prices while telling us that it was costing them more to manufacture/ship these units. So you're telling me that Nvidia and AMD have given the "green light" to these AIB's to increase their original msrp GPU's 3x the cost? EVGA was charging $2800 for their 3090's on their website.
I cannot imagine the stress of trying to run a company when you have no access to drivers to fully test your product (but will be the one getting the flack), have no idea what the price is going to be, are capped on maximum price, are going to be undercut by your suppliers own product and yet you still have to make commitments on GPU/memory kits in advance in order to have the chance of producing enough product to compete. It's insane. Every day must feel like playing russian roulette. You just have to hope the demand is there without being able to make any guesses on split of product line based on the price it's going to come out at. If you can make any money at all. Linus talks about the stresses with the vagueries of dealing with manufacturers and guessing when product will arrive. Imagine that and then all this other crap, I can totally understand why EVGA said no more.

I was under the impression that NVLink died because nobody used it because of its diminishing returns and lack of support by developers. Sorry to the 5 people who used and enjoyed 3DVision and vGPU. @@adrycough I never used 3DVision out of principle because they advertised it on the box, but then charged extra for the license. That was purely a moneygrab and could have made the difference between 3DTV staying or dying as it did by facilitating wide adoption.
And while NVLink is not a thing in gaming anymore it is absolutely a thing for small creator 3D animation. While you can use multiple GPUs without NVLink in software such as Blender, NVLink allows you to pool the memory so you can have bigger scenes with bigger textures. NVidia has now made another moneygrab, making it almost impossible for small creators to compete with large corporations who can afford the 100% markup for equivalent Quadro (yes I know Quadro doesn't exist anymore) pro cards.

To give you an idea how good eVGA customer / enthusiast support actually was: back in 2008 I got an eVGA 8800 GTS 512 with no purchase receipt and traces of voltmods replaced under lifetime warranty, just because the card was used to set a 3DMark 2001 world record.
8800 GTS 512mb was a beast. Was my first upgrade!

I'm guessing they were expecting a huge plunge in gpu revenue over all. With the crash of crypto and the huge inflation the world is experiencing, I don't think the tech market will fair well over the next few years.

They have the BEST customer support....Asus is the worst IMO.
I guy exclusively EVGA graphics and power supply then Asus for motherboard and they best in those categories. Also EVGA power supply's have a nice finish texture to them as well looks high quality which they are.

Just built my new rig with a 80+ gold EVGA 850w PSU and I love it. The quality of the cables are top notch and the ECO (quiet) mode is nice to have.
I once had a dead card, i rma my card to germany, and 2 days after, i had a new card, and because the old were 3years old almost, they couldnt give me the same, so i got upgraded. They must have sent the new card almost instant when they got my card or something. Crazy

EVGA is just a great company in general. I used them in my builds for myself, friends, and family for years even before I started watching tech RUclipsrs. Never had a PSU or GPU from them fail.

My first GPU was an EVGA 1070 I bought in 2016, sold it to my buddy and it's still running, and the EVGA PSU I've had in my PC for near 7 years is still going strong

The marketing team must have told him it was a good image to project, probably said it'll capture more of the youth market. Compared to AMD's Intels or Microsoft's CEO's, even Elon Musk, they all wear smarter clothes as you'd expect or smart casual clothes. Stuff they wear everyday. And they don't wear the exact same clothes in every video they appear in or product launch they do.
I feel like this is true of the majority of manufacturers I buy from. Great product, designers and makers are devoted and put in the effort, but executives take the piss. From electronic goods, to furniture to software etc the story repeats.

They most likely will be, assuming they stay in the motherboard market. They've been making AM4 motherboards since last year, so it'd only make sense for them to move to AM5 should they choose to continue being active in that segment.
I just wish they made a b-series motherboard, cause right now they only make the x-series and z-series.

EVGA was the only card maker I trusted even if sometimes their cards weren't the best they'd always back up their products. I don't know any other company that supports their products like EVGA does.
Regarding the doomsday /buried pc, I actually found it quite informative as an ISP technician who manages several outdoor solar-only network deployments that utilize similar containers for outdoor housing. The video inspired me to invite my company to consider burying our containers in a similar fashion for the temperature management alone! All our above ground boxes with no actual pcs, running solid state batteries and networking switches and routers with active cooling still exceed peak operating temperatures during heat waves in this crazy California weather. Thanks for doing that video!!
EVGA has my respect. If EVGA makes it, I will buy it over other brands for the foreseeable future. Hope they go AMD.

I worked for a big Korean consumer brand, I remember being approached by a big cable company to be involved in a tender bid. I spoke to our SVP, his response: we're not bidding on supplying them again.
I think the cable co was shocked that a company would refuse to bid to supply them, but they were hard work as a customer, so it wasn't worth it for us.
I absolutely agree about how small the industry can be. I didn't work in computing, but in our corner of 'CE', I we all are competitive in selling but we'll sit down for a beer and gossip like no one else.
Shocking news about EVGA. I've bought their cards since the 8800 GTX, that's a real shame. At least their PSUs are still amazing but that's wild.
Also one of the better companies to deal with as far as RMAs for GPUs from my experience.

I built a system in I think 2007, because Dell messed up a Dimension 9200 order. It was supposed to arrive with a 7950xx card. When first powered on, it had an ?ATi card. After some dozens of support emails, they didn't have that 7950xx card in stock. Was fairly obvious to me at the time, it was a really rare dual gpu laptop card. The 9200 wasn't a laptop.
They sent me a 8800gtx ( full bore dell made) because it was the closest replacement they had. It neither fit in the d9200 case, nor could it be powered by the psu.
So I built a rig around that gpu >< Intel qx6850 (quad core extreme edition), Asus Striker Extreme mobo, I think 4x 2GB OcZ rams, 2x OcZ 30gb ssd's ( in raid0), and my still in service, and ridiculous Themaltake Armor case.
That original Dell Outlet order was somewhere around 700€, less than a 7950xx was worth, and I spent around 3500€ to build that system around their mistake.
But, that 8800gtx was a stupendously good card, for the 6 years it lasted me.
I've had every tier EVGA card since the 1050, 1050 Ti, 1060, 1080, Hybrid 2080, Hybrid 3080, and now Hybrid 3090 Ti. It's a shame... I have been brand loyal to them for GPU's for decades. Best of the best IMO. I feel something good will come from this though.
EVGA was a go to for me for years, I had a motherboard from them that had an issue with the bios, and they had the hands down best customer support I have ever had. I will literally pay more now to buy EVGA in particular

I have used male-male plugs in emergency situations in the past. I wouldn't recommend them, but in certain situations, it can be useful. That said, anyone that would be brave enough to use a male-male plug should also know how to wire one up themselves. Allowing the public to purchase these is a horrible, horrible idea.

I don't agree with all takes by LTT, but their principled stance on issues such as this one involving Nvidia is definitely commendable. This "calling out" style, for a lack of a better term, is very important in keeping the industry overall from tilting too far into cutthroat territory, thereby ultimately improving the market for everyone - not just consumers, but also the industry itself.
If you can play dirty, the one that plays the most dirty wins. If you can't play dirty, the one that has the best product at the best price wins.

Australian's Consumer Rights regulator (ACCC) has been going after Amazon, EBay and other online retailers for a few years about both for their advertising, product safety and failure to honor consumer's rights to waranty, repair or refund. Amazon specifically has been called to give statements on this, I think they learnt the hardway that transplanting their US business model into Australia wasn't going to be easy.

I've been buying EVGA since my first EVGA GTX 550 Ti, over a decade ago. I never had a problem with their cards and always recommended them to people. I'm sad to see them move on, but also grateful to own an EVGA GTX 1060 6GB ACX 2.0, that i'm currently running to this day.
my 1060 EVGA 8 gig is still running like a champ in my other pc. 1080p is ok. But my 2080S Strix is killer for 4k. with my i7 10700k @5.1 ghz all core. NZXT AIO cooled.

Laughing at the male to male connector, I saw one for sale when I was 14 in this electronics store, then made one of my own for a project when I was 15 (There was a specific plug manufactures use in this case, but it was more free for me to make it that way on my own).

Actually since Nintendo started using Nvidia chips in their console their reliability went downhill. Nintendo consoles used to last for decades take, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU, DS, 3DS etc. Now Switch dies in 3-4 years from motherboard, GPU faults if you play a lot. So Nvidia took Nintendo's legendary reliability away.

I think even if Lab32 doesn't make that, however they present their data online would make it relatively (technically) easy for a third party to make an extension that pulls that data - but not sure if that would be cool or even cease-and-desist-able, and I think Luke-n-co could deliberately create barriers to make it harder if they wanted.
(But the question of a third-party extension is hopefully irrelevant, because I think Lab32 could dedicate pretty minimal resources to it, if they wanted, and still keep it decent and functional)

I am actually glad Nvidia are pros at burning bridges. It gave AMD in a distinct advantage in the past over Nvidia when the latter dominated due to overwhelming R&D budget. _"Even if Radeon wasnt as good as Geforce this generation, it is still good enough to not deal with the likes of Nvidia!"_ is a common sentiment in the Industry, and why AMD forges such strong and lasting partnerships. If Nvidia were as lovable to business partners, there is a very real risk they could have squeezed out their only rival for good over the last decade.
A close friend of my very specifically got one of those Life-Time warranties and he made out like a bandit because of it. Because by the time he could use the warranty, the card he was using was no longer in stock anywhere so they were forced to upgrade him to a better GPU. Wasn't a lot better, I don't recall exactly which ones they were, before and after, but he was super smug about it when it happened .. even if it took him 5 weeks to get the new GPU :/
I will continue to support EVGA as I absolutely love their power supplies. But honestly I don't care if Nvidia is a bit "better" anymore, I will be buying AMD GPUs from now on.
All AMD needs to do for millions of people to make this switch now, is simply have software feature parity with Nvidia and release a product that performs in the same ballpark as it relative to the prices that both can afford to offer them at. Hell, if AMD were to go and price nvidia's partners out of the market for a few years, they might be able to even gobble up some of that sales volume, by incentivizing partners to sell AMD GPUs instead of Nvidia GPUs. Offer them most of your profits for a while to do it even, if you have to, so long as it eats away rapidly at Nvidia market share. After all, it's only anti-trust worthy when you're already the market leader!

I remember when I was lead bench tech at BTO Manufacturing in Alpharetta, GA and the very first NVidia/EVGA product, the Riva TNT, came in for beta testing. Better than the ATI Rage cards we were selling at the time for sure. I remember running 3DMark 2000 on it and being blow away by the performance. I got to keep that card and now I wish I would have kept it. I've been a EVGA customer since. This is blowing my mind. Yeah, it's like going through a divorce and you're the child, to a degree. Man, this really hits home. I absolutely respect the CEO's decision but at the same time I feel like there is a hole in my freaking soul now.

If I recall correctly there was one driver update to fix a power related bug and she was off to the races. Gonna' miss EVGA graphics cards. Only cards I've ever run simply because I've always been able to rely on them and they always take a solid overclock on water.

yeah I mean that kind of seems similar to the recent increase in usb 4 speeds, where we will get 80 gbit speeds over usb. Is thunderbolt even necessary at that point if the universal standard can match or exceed the speed? We'll just have to see what happens

This is not true. NVLink also gets new versions/more links over time. The new Hopper architecture for server GPUs does come with the newest NVLink and PCIE 5.0. To quote the Nvidia H100 product website:

I think Nvidia just sees NVLink as an enterprise or at least professional workstation (Quadro) grade feature which they wont give to consumer cards anymore. There is just more money to be made there, I guess.

I've been getting Founders' Edition cards because of the debacle with the power chips on cards making them unreliable. I had *no* idea that Nvidia had crippled all their partners with a lack of drivers and information. It's a joke, and probably enough to move me across to AMD's cards once and for all.

Those are immensely frustrating to use, be it if you just want to click something in the footer section, or find an item again that was located several scroll-downs and re-loads away. Give me a paginated list with big enough item count per page anyday instead!
Scrolling "forever" is a bit of a stretch (I know Luke said it first). He reached the bottom in like 5 seconds. There was 53 items total. Even if they do get more items eventually that is what the filter system is for.
I _despise_ infinite scrolling pages. It's especially annoying when you click on something then try to go back and the page either becomes unresponsive for a while as it reloads hundreds of items attempting to return to your previous position - or worse when it just _doesn't_ and puts you back at the start of the page and you have to find where you were manually.
Middle-click to open in new tab sometimes works but those types of sites tend to be very Javascript heavy and often breaks that functionality. Actually, you should have been _left-clicking_ to open in a new tab this whole time but of course you don't actually realize that until you have fifty null tabs open. Some days I almost miss the old WEB 1.0 days, with it's direct links, blinking text, difficult to read fonts and embedded MIDI files...almost.
Chill out, it's just the beta site at this point. Send your feedback using the method they shared and maybe they'll remove it from the new version of the site when it goes live.

@@nadirqg amd has already stepped up their game though. fsr is a life saver for anyone with a weaker or older gpu that wants to play modern games (nvidia's dlss isn't even available to their older gpus as far as I know) which alone makes their reputation as a company better than nvidia. the performance of the 6000 series gpus is also comparable to the rtx 30 series gpus at lower power consumption which saves you money in the long run and that's for the same performance as nvidia. Ray tracing contrary to popular belief also works with the rx 6000 series gpus and you could play with playable framerate

Unfortunately, a huge chunk of GPU sales are for business applications, and as someone in this position, I simply can't justify going with AMD again. I've made that mistake twice now, never again. Their CPUs are excellent, unrivaled in some categories, but on the GPU side they're just not a practical replacement in real world use where it *actually costs money if the GPU doesn't work properly*. Gamer's GPU shits itself, whatever, go touch grass. If my GPUs die, or I have some driver incompatibility that breaks stuff, I'm fucked, and I have never been able to get AMD cards to be at the level of reliability I need.
They're publicly traded company. The people in power have to be 100% legally working for the benefit of shareholders or they will be kicked out.
Really hope they jump to AMD, I have already switched to Radeon and would love to get an EVGA card next time. Sapphire is great having both on the Red team would be good for competition.

What Linus said about how much easier it has become to sell dangerous things since online shopping happened is certainly true. Some say that we don’t need any regulation because businesses that make bad things will be out of business soon. That might have worked back when you shopped from people in your town and you knew them but online you can just rename your business and sell the same thing over and over.

Little trick for youtube ads on smartphones-> tap on the video (ad starts), minimize the video, close it, tap on it again (ad starts), minimize it, close it, tap on the video (no ad on the third try). Works 100% of the times for me and on a decently fast phone it's faster than sitting through a minute of unskippable ads :).

EVGA is my go-to for power supplies. Their PSUs have never let me down, give above and beyond, are priced reasonably, and support is awesome, even for small things.
I've only owned EVGA cards my entire gaming life (all GTX models) sad to see them go out of that business.
My take: EVGA is trying this as a last measure to get nVidia to flip on the issue. That's why they haven't had any discussions with AMD/Intel. If nVidia doesn't change its mind, EVGA will continue with AMD. If it wasn't like this I feel like they wouldn't have spent so much time elaborating how they're not in kahoots with anyone and that they're leaving the space entirely.
NVIDIA's negative conduct is huge negative impact, especially with their monopoly on AI compute power. If this is the way NVIDIA treats partners you can only imagine how they would treat AI. The GPU space needs more competition to prevent over reaching power.
Oh, the upsides to being a multinational monopoly, nobody can tell you what to do without the risk of you just moving your operations.
i used to be really into prepper videos just because it was very fun to watch and see the thought processes into being ready (I started by watching videos about natural disasters) and I personally really liked the prepper pc video, and seeing that its possible to have a low-power cost PC is good for the environment

Does anyone remember when Nvidia bought out the arguably greatest video card manufacturer of all time 3DFX- Voodoo? At the time of purchase, the new designs of the Voodoo 3 through 5 were so far ahead of anything Nvidia produced for years afterwards, if ever. I owned a Voodoo daughter card that was linked to a Matrox Mystique and later, a Voodoo II card and nothing on the market bested these cards for a very long time. Nvidia stopped supporting Glide which was superior to openGL, and just set the gaming community back for whatever purpose only they would know for sure. Ancient history now, and it was commonly known that 3DFX was financially strapped due to their honest , hard working R&D division that were pioneering every aspect of video cards and software for gaming. And they were also undercut by some very cheap video cards used in economy PC's that had little use for high end graphics, but were the highest profit division by far. R&D is very expensive but Nvidia had the resources to keep it running and be literally masters of all the market divisions. But don't listen to me. I turned down stock in both Google (what a stupid name) and Amazon , (what the heck is that?) at their initial offering.

From my own pc building around that time the top tnt cards we're already more powerful than the voodoo 3+ cards in 99 and by the 3dfx v5, Nvidia we're off and going with the annihilator series by 2000.
At the time I was building some of the world's fastest single chip pcs along side gibbo and marshy, so what ever topped the charts was what went in the pcs.
But yeah 3dfx did have some cool technologies hence why they bought them.
That's just life.
Nvidia has always been and will always be a profit driven cut throat business though.
But I do miss my banshee card, that card in my parent pc at the time got me into pc's professionally and was sweet playing half-life for a year and a half before I started working and built my first heavily over clocked pc.
I was very young at the time and had the Diamond Voodoo 1 for a year. Then i went to college and bought a Voodoo 3 and then their final Voodoo 5 which run Quake III with full FSA like a dream. At the time some of my friends bought other cards plus the top of the range Nvidia card. Clearly the Voodoo was wayyyy better in performance than and NVidia product, but the Tech magazines of the time favored NVIDIA in reviews and praised its full Direct X compatibility vs 3DFX glide API. Clearly the magazines worked with Nvidia to push away 3DFX. Shame the Mafia company won that race.

My view of Nvidia comes from the age of multiple GPU builds, when SLI and Crossfire were relevant. Nvidia's focus on multiple GPU builds was alternating frame rendering, where each GPU draws a full frame and the frame rate cycles through the cards. ATI developed Crossfire to support screen splitting modes to split per-frame workload. At the time, AFR was able to demonstrate better results than screen splitting modes at the time. This forced ATI to focus on AFR in order to compete, despite screen splitting would be able to make a comeback if development continued. Eventually, Nvidia phased out SLI. At one time, multiple GPU rigs was a way to sell more GPUs.
So, why did Nvidia phase out SLI? Is it not necessary anymore? Well, if you want 8K resolution... The problem with multiple GPU modes was it would make a pair of Nvidia's GTX/RTX xx70 model cards match or outperform the series Titan card for a lower price. You just need to invest into a motherboard/CPU combo to have the PCIe bandwidth to support 2 or more cards. I figure Nvidia is the major player that set multiGPU support on the software developers over the drivers. I will say there was still potential to develop a better driver-based multiGPU, especially if tile rendering was working. With tile rendering where a GPU renders a screen by dividing the screen into tiles and rendering 1 tile at a time, all the GPUs can automatically dynamically allocate the tiles being drawn, coordinating which GPU drew the tile, which would allow minimal loss scaling. Given Nvidia, or any profit-driven business, would rather sell 1 $1,500 titan class card instead of 2x $500 cards for the same performance, you can see why such strategies needed to die.
the bigger issue with SLI/Crossfire solutions is that ATi and Nvidia couldn't write a driver that treats two separate GPUs as one virtual GPU without introducing latencies that lead to microstutter, and game developers had to optimise for this to combat the latency as well which took a lot of work the developers couldn't financially justify.
That's why so many manufacturers developed dual-die cards that reduce the distance between the GPUs as much as possible, to eliminate as much latency as possible.
But to reiterate on the point, without a driver that can virtually treat several cards as one, there will be problems with multi-GPU solutions.
I reckon AMD is taking their time to develop that for when their GPUs go to chiplet designs just like Zen 2 did.
@@michelvanbriemen3459, the latency issue is a problem with AFR only. AFR demonstrated easy, marketable performance numbers, but it has problems from timing the frame rate pacing, as each card is drawing a different frame. Timing when to tell the game engine when to send the next frame update created your timing issues. Next up was drawing tricks involving using the previous frame, as the previous frame is still being drawn while the new frame is drawing. Nvidia had all the same problems.
ATI was developing frame splitting techniques for Crossfire in addition to AFR. The problem with the frame splitting was workload balance. The attempts at frame splitting was Card A drew absolute areas of the frame while Card B drew the other half. Due to each region having different levels of activity, the frame rate was based on the card that had the most workload. The frame splitting techniques would not fall victim to the problems of AFR as a new frame doesn't start until the current frame is done. If a frame splitting technique came around to dynamically balance the drawing workload, then frame splitting rendering would easily overtake AFR. A rendering technique called tile rendering was thrown around alot at one time. Tile rendering split a frame into tiles and the GPU drew one at a time. The logic was the tiles would be scaled based on cache memory, rendering a block that can fit in the cache bank and then writing it to the frame buffer in VRAM, thinking the overhead of tile rendering would be less than the performance gain from reduced strain on VRAM bandwidth. Tile rendering would allow a dynamic frame splitting technique that would permit high scalability with multiple GPUs, as all the GPUs are loaded with the same frame, but each one starts on a different tile, only having to tell the other GPUs which tiles are drawn, uploading the tile to the master GPU when PCIe bandwidth permits during the frame.
I’m pretty sure my first or second GPU in the early 2000s was EVGA. It worked well and was affordable.

What sucks is I have a 10 year warranty i purchased from evga. I doubt they will have stock then so it would be nice to get clarification from them.
Here in the US, RUclips ads can be pretty scammy, and outright nasty during election season. I've started combatting that by setting my VPN to somewhere in Europe. Now my ads are mostly for normal household products. The only downside is I can't do that with the RUclips app on my TV set top box.

That time was a decade ago, right now all that's left is the race to the bottom for the remaining partners. And it wont be long before Nvidia completely does away with them since they've been laying the groundwork for this move for over a decade.
It's sad that EVGA got pushed out by this, but I respect their decision. Almost every GPU I've owned has been an EVGA (and my first built computer had a core2duo, so that's a fair few cards) and all of them have been amazing. I've loved them all. They make good products and have good service. I can't say for sure it will be, but after this, I kind of hope my 2070 is my last Nvidia card...
RDNA 2 is extremely competitive with Ampere, and leaks suggest RDNA 3 will be even more so with Lovelace. I think you'll be able to pull that off. :)

Every card i've owned in my primary gaming PC since 2011 has been an EVGA FTW series card, ive had every generation since the GTX580.
Honestly i've been so impressed by the newer AMD cards, if EVGA did partner with AMD I would make the switch just to buy a RX 8000 FTW card and support EVGA.
I have multiple of their motherboards as well. The longest board i've ever owned is my EVGA Z77 FTW, which was the first board to really impress me again since the old XFX 790i Ultra SLI Motherboard.
