Per Dr. Sharyn Rossi, BrightFocus Foundation’s Director of Scientific Programs, Neuroscience: “Some science has shown that caloric restriction can increase longevity and be beneficial for brain health/function. Caloric restriction changes the way your body processes fuel shifting from glycolysis to ketosis. It also causes many downstream genetic changes that influence inflammation, metabolic function, cellular support and survival, and genes associated with longevity. It is always important to ensure you are consuming the correct macronutrients and vitamins and minerals as recommended by your health care professional. Malnutrition can result in cognitive problems similar to dementia symptoms.”
Thank you for your question & all the best!
