    I’ve only had one chase in the three years I’ve been flying, my hahns got chased by a hawk, my two large macaws immediately jumped in and chased the hawk away without issue. Like you, I fly pretty much every day, they are very strong macaws.

    I came close to tearing up at seeing these beautiful birds be able to fly freely, yet return to you. Obviously they fly often as they showed the strength to keep flying and yet give chase. I commend you. Just beautiful. "Pets", yet free to do what they do naturally. Be themselves.

    Thank you so much for sharing this video! Although I am very familiar with free flighted macaws, I had never seen macaws be chased by wild birds, like hawks nor chase after the hawks pursuing their flock mates! I am so glad to hear that you and your family let your macaws fly every day. This is a very beautiful thing to witness. Thank you again for sharing.😊

      Hey Sherri. Yes it’s really interesting to see. We’ve been free flying for over 8 years- it doesn’t happen often, thankfully.
      We have some other videos that show flying with ravens and turkey vultures All very interesting. Thanks for watching

    So im guessing the "extreme varety" is some sort of mix of many macaw species? Very interesting video! 😎 It's nice to see them as they were meant to be. (in the sky) ☀️
    Edit: Buffons and Scarlet! Beautiful! (I watched your other video) LOVE the 'Aqua Blush'! ❤ But,in all honesty i have never seen a macaw not be stunning.

      We build trust and a strong relationship. They are our friends, and they trust us to take care of them. We only ask for the behavior we want and allow them to choose to do it. This is referred to as positive reinforcement. We introduce new things slowly always mindful of our bond (relationship) All that we do with and for them is in the best interest of their health, well-being.

    Beautiful birds there,
    Don’t forget parrots are jungle birds and come across just as deadly as hawks,
    Also there claws and beaks of most parrots signal to other birds they are also tough cookies and vet smart and clever

    • @epicfreeflight
      @epicfreeflight  Год назад

      Absolutely

    • @EyeSeeThruYou
      @EyeSeeThruYou Год назад +2

      No. There are jungle-hunting raptors that regularly prey on macaw species.
      Being "smart" helps, but it will not protect a macaw from any aerial hunter which evolved to hunt other birds of any size.
      Pstticine intelligence is not an inherent guarantee against predation. Read "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" to understand why.
      She is taking unnecessary chances with her birds believing that they can continually evade Harris hawks as that species hunts in groups, very successfully.

    I'd be looking for the *other* Harris hawks as they almost never hunt alone.
    Probability favors raptors as they are significantly faster and more maneuverable in the air than is any pstticine species, and the inherent strength in raptor talons and attack vector (overhead or from behind) highly disfavors pstticines.
    In comparison, a pstticine is a weak, slower flier compared to any member of Falconiformes, Accipitriformes, and Cathartiformes.
    Pstticines do have the advantage in working socially, as a flock, against a single raptor when in a tree or on the round, but Harris hawks also hunt in groups...and are notoriously adept at hunting techniques involving ground pursuits (running and short burst pouncing).
    This species of hawk, specifically, represents your macaws' most fomidable adersary, which is also defending its native range from your introduced macaw species.
    Pstticine and human, beware.
